    The fit of the sweater suits you SO WELL! Less positive ease with the long ribbing looks stunning!

    Beautiful job on your purple sweater. I think I would bite the bullet and pull out the hem and ribbing, then reknit the additional 2" length and ribbing again, since you can't wear it in Boston for a few months anyway. That would be preferable to being annoyed with a kitchener stitch that might be visible. Good luck!

    It's so amazing how blocking can make such a difference in the draping of a garment. Excellent job on your projects, Amy! 👏🏾🧶 Your DRK Everyday Sweater is stunning! 💜

    The DRK Everyday Sweater is one of my favorites and a truly great pattern. I’m making my 4th now. Yes, you do split for sleeves quickly after finishing the yoke- so there won’t be a lot of fabric under the arm. I saw a comment about Andrea Mowry’s sleeves being narrow: some ppl knit more tightly for small circumference knitting, which is why Andrea recommends going up a needle size for the sleeves.

    Hi NE! I wanted to ask what advice you had for someone starting their own knitting podcast? How do you market yourself, find an audience, etc? I love your podcasts!!

    • @neknits
      @neknits  Місяць тому +11

      Hi! Thanks for asking! I didn't do much marketing of myself when I started - I just posted what I wanted and hoped those with similar interests would find me and stick around. Stay true to what YOU like and don't feel like you need to please everyone with your content, because you won't. As for tech/the algorithm, I definitely recommend prioritizing good lighting (sit facing a window) and clear audio. Sadly even excellent podcasters might get skipped if their video is hard to watch from a quality perspective. (Don't need expensive gear, I just started with my iphone!). Try different thumbnail styles and see what gets more reach. Sometimes a "trendy" video theme is a good way to get on the map! Best of luck to you!

    haha it's funny that you had the same result as when I knit my DRK everyday sweater. I knit mine short because I am only 5' 3" and when I lift my arms it comes up a lot. I had planned on doing the same sweater surgery but am still enjoyed it working from home with high waisted legging on.

    Hi Amy. I love these 3 FOs. They look awesome in you. I think you are so brave cutting your DRK sweater and then picking up the stitches, adding the length and reattaching your rib band. I would have to frog the whole band to remit the body. I would love to see a video of you doing that. It might inspire me for future projects. ❤❤

    Thanks Amy- love your podcasts. In my experience all Andreas patterns have surprisingly tight sleeves compared with the oversized body fit. I tend to cast on extra stitches under the arm to allow for this now.

    Andrea Mowry patterns have a tendency to have very narrow arms and a larger armscye is a modification I have to make on any DRK pattern, so you are totally right on with your observation about the arm tightness!

    Ooh! The DRK everyday sweater looks amazing! I love the color and fit. I really like the cropped look but get wanting it a bit longer. This was fun to just see your finished objects for this time. Also so excited to see your new space! I’m also moving soon and actually really love the feeling of a new space.

    Oooh! I love the colour of the Everyday sweater on you. I think the extra 2 inches will make you so much more comfortable while still being cropped. If you talk with your hands like I do, the exposure at the current length would drive you crazy.
    Good luck with getting into your new home quickly. Can’t wait to see you blogging from there. 🥰

    Good morning. Just to start off by saying I love your podcasts. As to the DRK everyday sweater, I have to say, I do like the cropped on you. I’m not one for cropped sweaters but the way this is done with the large ribbing on the collar and hem, it looks proportionately accurate. Looks great to me.

    I think I commented the first time you mentioned your DRK Everyday Sweater about the Patagonia Organic Merino. I recently finished the sweater I was making with it and found that if the sweater snags, the yarn thins out VERY easily. After just one wear I already need to repair it. There are some comments on the yarn page about people having issues with it breaking while they were knitting, and while I didn't have that issue I guess the fragility is still present in the final knitted fabric. Be careful!

    • @neknits
      @neknits  Місяць тому

      Good to know, thank you! Would not have guessed that about the yarn from knitting it, will see how it wears this Fall!

    As others have said, Andrea Mowry designs tighter sleeves, and contrary to what she says on her podcast and in her pattern instructions, it's not that everyone's gauge tightened up, it's that they are designed at a small circumference. If you compare her schematic to other designers who do similar sweaters you can see this. Now that I know this, I always pick up more stitches and don't start decreases for a couple of inches, to accommodate my upper arm circumference.

    Love your podcast, Amy ❤ just fell in love with the juniper moon yarn and discovered that it's available here in the Netherlands as well! I'm thinking of making a sweater in the ivory colour. Would you mind sharing how much yarn you used for your sweater? Greetings from NL 🧡

    • @neknits
      @neknits  Місяць тому

      For my size 2 sweater (with the cropped body) I used about 2.5 skeins of the yarn! Expecting to use close to 3 skeins once I add length back to the body.

    Hey Amy! How would you describe the difficulty level of the Chrysler tank? Are KFO’s patterns easy to follow? I’ve only ever followed a PetiteKnit pattern

    • @neknits
      @neknits  Місяць тому

      I would call the Chrysler Top adventurous beginner to intermediate! The bottom up construction in my opinion is easier than a top down camisole where you have to join all the parts at the beginning. I found this KFO pattern to be written pretty similarly to PetiteKnit patterns and straightforward to follow. This was my first KFO pattern, however I have heard some other patterns of theirs are tougher to follow.
