The score made this scene so powerful and intense I literally was at the edge of my sit watching this in the theater. My favorite batman villain dead :( eckhart did a wonderful job portraying two face. Though he never got the credit he deserved
Just watched this scene yesterday. It's such a tense scene you almost forget to breathe. And Eckhart is fantastic. You really see him start to lose it when he kidnaps one of Jokers goons, but he was outshone by Ledger.
From depression, to mentally collapse, to insanity. And insanity give birth to hatred, madness and despair, and at the end as the mind crumbles to nothingness, so is the body itself.
I love this music. It's so powerful and has a dark emotion. It also makes you wonder what would you do if you loose someone you loved more than anything. I personally believe that some people, no matter how good they are can fall. Like Harvey Dent did. I mean you have to lie to a person you love that everything is going to be alright, when you know that its not. When you think of it, it feels terrible.
The majority of people fold. Ask any soldier or drug addict, when the chips are doen few of us have the character. Even Jesus asked that the bitter cup be taken; thy will be done.
+m1guel Puolis Harvey Dent's "bad day" was Rachel dying because of the Joker, and it drove him into insanity. That's how far the world is from where people like Joker and Dent are - just one bad day.
I think the best part about this track (and scene it was in), is how, when it climaxes, you can clearly hear the Joker's influence in the background. It's like you can see and hear him, watching and laughing at the whole thing. It's like he's right there watching the world burn.
Just watched that scene a few hours ago. Easily one of the best scenes in the film. The action sequences are great. But seeing Jim trying to convince Harvey not to kill his son is chilling.
There's a lot of subtle clever things to this movie. Not without it's flaws, and some things might not have been intentional, but the little things like this...breath taking
This piece was composed by James Newton Howard only. These are his own words when he was explaining why he didn't return to score The Dark Knight Rises "I felt that by the end of The Dark Knight, there was one cue in particular that I had written where Gary Oldman is confronting Harvey Dent and Batman comes in, and I was really pleased with the way that whole thing culminated. I thought, wow, this is a good, no pun intended, note to go out on."
But I agree on how well they really portrayed him. The beauty of Nolan's film is that he can make even the silliest comic-villain into something extremely dark and tragic.
Did you know that Joker falling from the construction site was a reference to an older Batman movie where Batman let the Joker fall to his death. Chris Nolan took some parts from that movie and twisted it around. In the older movie Joker was created mid-way through the movie, but here Two-Face was created instead of Joker, and instead of Joker falling to his death Two-Face did.
It would be cool if he comes back. But I think Nolan did such a fantastic job with him, that making him the main villain in the third installment might feel like a breath of fresh air. I want to see different villains for the third installment. Or maybe Nolan might be able to pull something out of his ass again, and give an incredible story that involves Batman, Two-Face, and the Riddler. The future seems bright, in this dark world that Nolan has created. :)
I don't know about you guys, but I picture Bruce confronting Red Hood and finding out he's actually Jason when I listen to this. Then as the song goes along, Jason is describing his actions and feelings and just being mad as f***.
MrMejia187 Actually I could picture the ending confrontation between Jason, Batman and Joker in Under the Red Hood to be rescored with this exact tune.
TDKR wasn't horrible. 2 things I think that killed were 1.) people were expecting to be as good, if not better than The Dark Knight and 2.) the terrible twist that Bane was working for Talia because of some unexplained devotion to her. there is a comic story where Bane works for Ra's al-Ghul and impresses him so much that he starts to consider him as a possible heir instead of Batman. if Nolan had gone with that story and simply made it that Bane was trying to complete Ra's mission and avenge his death, it would've made TDKR much better. and if he rally wanted Talia in the story, he could've simply had her seeking revenge and merely working alongside Bane rather than that bullshit love story
Rocky Cadena yes, but it's never explained why. the only thing I could think of is because Talia was a child in a prison environment. also, it just felt really forced. the whole set-up to the film was to have Bane be the main villain. they could've easily left Talia out of the picture. and if they really wanted her in, it could've simply her seeking to avenge her father and finish his mission and Bane working alongside her
Play this and 'Immolation' from Angels and Demons side by side simultaneously. You won't notice any difference at all for the first 15secs or so! Extremely similar soundtracks
Not really. He was perfectly fine, physically, aside from his burns. He was able to hold several people at gunpoint, take an experienced police officer by surprise and knock him to the ground, etc. So other than his burns, he was fine physically. He landed on his neck, that's why. The Dark Knight Rises mentions that.
Well, it wouldn't have mattered. She wasn't making it out of there either. So it wasn't as much abandonment as much as the necessity to leave the wounded Bane so the reactor bomb would have been protected.
Nolan said he was really dead. It's not bad though, if he lived, their wouldn't be any sort of impact. Better that they bring in the Riddler and the Penguin for the third film.
This music seems too appropriate now for the election. The world economy has now tanked, people are gripped in fear. This just seems too appropriate now. . .I think it was said best in Star Wars Revenge of the Sith, "So this is the way democracy dies. Not with the sound of guns but with thunderous applause."
Oh, shut the hell up. Ledger didn't have anything to do with it as much as the fact that it was featuring Joker and Batman. That is the reason why it did well, not because of Ledger, may his soul rest in peace.
The dark knight rises is bad due to the popularity of the dark knight. producers, directors n script writers along with hanger ons n wives etc...tend to believe themselves masters after a worldwide hit, so constructive criticism is not forth coming in later work. same thing happen with the pirate films after the 1st one.
just wanted to add that the movie started off silly with "catwoman" flipping out the window, it was just too overtly cheesy, the film became a dud to me from then on. Hardly made any rhyme or reason..clock king would have been a better villain.compared to the cliche nuke bomb bad guy angle. dark knight rises is just blah, only watched it ONCE whereas I watched the dark knight at least 20 times along with batman begins
Don Juan Totally agree with your analysis. Rises was just full of cheesy bullshit and lame one liners. What the hell happened? I was so disappointed with it after the brilliant Begins and the absolutely spectacular TDK. Rises was worse in every conceivable way. Combat (lame), plot (contrived), acting (dull), dialogue (cheesy). As an example, compare how intense Dent's death was in TDK to how lame and pathetic Bane's and Talia's deaths were in Rises. Bane is a major Batman villain, and to have Catwoman just come in and blow him away, followed by another stupid one-liner, was cringe-worthy. He should have been treated with a lot more respect, the way Harvey Dent was in TDK. Catwoman's character was largely useless, with barely any character development at all. The combat was dull and uninspired after the high-intensity close-up fights of the first 2 movies. Seriously, I could go on and on, but my main point is that I hated the fuck out of this movie. Even the soundtrack was boring, and this is coming from a guy who loves soundtracks in general!
There's not a better title for this track. It's very OMINOUS and DARK! IT'S HOPELESSNESS IN MUSIC FORM. This kinds of remind me of what WORLD WAR 2 probably felt like. Watching European countries fall under the Germans and Hitler watching the world burn
You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become a villain
Masterful. I remember watching Harvey's final descent in the theater and thinking it was scored perfectly.
Just watched it again last night and the music in this scene really stood out to me
Right when it hits 2:57... that's the real anxiety building tear jerker section.
From depression, to mentally collapse, to insanity. And insanity give birth to hatred, madness and despair, and at the end as the mind crumbles to nothingness, so is the body itself.
I would say incredibly deep but im already in the nothingness phase so the only thing that you'll get from me is ...........................
You can literally feel the madness build after each minute passes, James Newton Howard and Hans Zimmer are gods! 🙌🏼
Starting at 3:10 is the most powerful piece in the whole soundtrack
I love this music. It's so powerful and has a dark emotion. It also makes you wonder what would you do if you loose someone you loved more than anything. I personally believe that some people, no matter how good they are can fall. Like Harvey Dent did. I can't explain how much I love this song...
piece, it is called a piece a song is when somebody sings something, a piece is an instrumental.
+Poor man Genius oh i didnt know that! thanks you!
your welcome
Tell your son it'll be alright, Gordon. Lie.. Like I lied.
Just watched that scene a few hours ago. Easily one of the best scenes in the film. The action sequences are great. But seeing Jim trying to convince Harvey not to kill his son is chilling.
It's going to be all right, son.
+MegaAlexsmith123 [Flips Coin]
+One Winged Ice Angel *TACKLE*
+ManNotFoundDog [Breaks neck]
This song gives me goosebumps
I've listened to this five thousand times and I'm never getting tired of it.
Listen very closely to the last minute, with headphones on, volume up. You'll hear the subtle Joker violin string in the background.
+Mike Hunt Holy shit.
Man I'm so glad I know about that now
thanks mike hunt
Well done on that observation mike hunt lmao
There's a lot of subtle clever things to this movie. Not without it's flaws, and some things might not have been intentional, but the little things like this...breath taking
If my mind was put into music this would be it... its perfect.
I don't think I've experienced more tension watching a movie then the final scene with Two Face. Simply haunting.
But I agree on how well they really portrayed him. The beauty of Nolan's film is that he can make even the silliest comic-villain into something extremely dark and tragic.
grim & creepy, yet oh so beautiful! this is the hardest track on here…hands down!
The Dark Knight could also mean Harvey after the incident:
Descent from The White Knight to The Dark Knight.
Just a small thought.
Nah I don't think so the sequel was called The Dark Knight Rises and Two-Face was already dead.
But still an interesting theory.
The Dark Knight refers to all 3 of them imo, but def towards the parallels of Batman and Harvey Dent.
Yup Batman 1989 with Jack Nicholson as The Joker.
The Dark knight is the only superhero movie i can call a masterpiece on it's own instead of just being a good comic book movie.
James Newton Howard...
Enough said. =)
I will play this November 8th, 2016.
Lmao😂
why?
Are you American?
Bat5hade Ah Election
TheRedHavokz
Right....

Seriously now...this music is beyond fuckin' haunting. Outstanding stuff.

Best track in the whole movie.
Also, how the fuck can Batman Begins and The Dark Knight be so fucking awesome and TDKR be so fucking horrible?!
Not just the best track also the best scene of the film. I often watch the scene before i head for work :)
TDKR wasn't horrible. 2 things I think that killed were 1.) people were expecting to be as good, if not better than The Dark Knight and 2.) the terrible twist that Bane was working for Talia because of some unexplained devotion to her.

milestone380 reading this while listening to this music made this comment a whole lot more chilling.
milestone380 I don't think it was love story. Talia looked up to Bane as a foster father, or an uncle.
Rocky Cadena yes, but it's never explained why. the only thing I could think of is because Talia was a child in a prison environment.
also, it just felt really forced. the whole set-up to the film was to have Bane be the main villain. they could've easily left Talia out of the picture. and if they really wanted her in, it could've simply her seeking to avenge her father and finish his mission and Bane working alongside her
Heads, you get to keep your head.
Tails, *not so lucky*.
Play this and 'Immolation' from Angels and Demons side by side simultaneously. You won't notice any difference at all for the first 15secs or so! Extremely similar soundtracks

Rightfrom the best scene in TDK💯
Pity i was dead for that scene.
fucking chilling
that what i felt when i broke up with my girlfriend
I wrote a Music final deciphering the instruments played in this track, there was so much to write about I couldn't NOT be given an A lol.
What types of instruments are played. I'm terrible at deciphering this type of music.
ive lifted at my heaviest peak to this track .
To this? Not typical workout music.
1. it was higher
2. two face didn't fall feet first like Maroni, he fell head first
I am playing this now on election night because we are watching the nation burn.....
Bat5hade same here dude
Indeed
''It´s not about what I want. It´s about what´s FAIR. You tought we could be decent man in indecent time''
Harvey broke his neck because he landed differently.
Sal landed on his feet.
even the best of us can fall...
For some reason, this beginning reminds me of the music from Batman Returns. Could be just me :P
its not about what i want.. its about what's fair!
@Ricorodrigeuz dent falls on his back, salvatore falls on his legs
Not really.
He was perfectly fine, physically, aside from his burns.
He was able to hold several people at gunpoint, take an experienced police officer by surprise and knock him to the ground, etc.
So other than his burns, he was fine physically. He landed on his neck, that's why. The Dark Knight Rises mentions that.
what
PMC Anon's darkest hour.
3:08 "🥺... Harvey, you're right... Rachel's death *was* my fault... 😢P-P-Please don't punish the boy. Please punish *me.* "
@Ricorodrigeuz But harvey dent was already extremely injured
I thought Nolan did a great job with Bane. :)
Well, it wouldn't have mattered.
She wasn't making it out of there either. So it wasn't as much abandonment as much as the necessity to leave the wounded Bane so the reactor bomb would have been protected.
