Another option for not using Double Team would be to level up until level 21 and replace Double Team with Calm Mind, so that you can deplete your PP without having to use Double Team. Congratulations on the wedding! Gardevoir is one of my favourite Pokemon so I'm happy to see it do so well. One thing that might make your Emerald Psychic runs slightly smoother in the future is that you can get the Thief TM without having to clear out the museum, which allows you to avoid defeating the Carvanha Aqua Grunt with Swagger or Struggle. It only saves 1 Dark type Strugglefest but it's something!
I had a Female Gardevoir named Aurora when I played through Emerald a few years back and she quickly became my favorite Pokémon. She carried me through the game to the point where she was actually out leveling my Starter because of how often I used her. She even carried me through the Battle Frontier and completely swept Brandon and his team of Regis. My other two Pokémon were fainted and she landed Hypnosis and I was able to set up Calm Mind, put his Pokémon to sleep again, and then I swept him with Psychic and Thunderbolt. And since that day I would put a Gardevoir on my team in every game I can get her in and she has always carried her weight.
I cannot express just how happy I am to hear about you, and your now wife having taken the next step - been watching the channel for ages now, and I'm so proud of the growth you've had to date thus far-- here's to many, many happy years for you both!
Was my Psychic type of choice in Generation 3 until I realised how painful I find the Slow growth rate - I prefer Grumpig these days but Gardevoir will always be the first Hoenn psychic type that comes to mind.
A grumpig vs gardevoir video would be awesome. Grumpig to me is like the Hypno equivalent for Hoenn, so a comparison between those two would be really fun
Congratulations Scott! You and your wife evolved like the Nidoking and Nidoqueen evolutionary line: boyfriend>fiancé>husband and vise versa for your wife. With the final evolution coming from a stone (on an engagement ring)!
Wife who loves and supports you in the things you do, earned musical talent, a job where you play Pokemon for as long as you want and hang out with other people who like it too, a demonstrated ability to manage your ADHD and produce content that requires focus and diligence... and several cats besides. Ten-year-old Scott must be so proud of you, and so are Tangela and I.
An interesting tactic you could use against Tate & Liza is Imprison alongside Psychic and Calm Mind. I’ll delineate. Imprison prevents the opponents from using any moves that the user knows as long as the user is still on the field. All of their Pokémon know Psychic, and two of them know Calm Mind. From there, you could use Imprison turn 1 to prevent any Calm Mind setups or Xatu and Lunatone from attacking outright. Things would be even better if you started with the Trace ability, as it could trace Claydol’s Levitate and make you immune to EQ. Trace would also eliminate the need for the Persim Berry at Norman since you’d copy Own Tempo from Spinda. Perhaps most importantly, it would copy Intimidate from all those Mightyenas, which would aid in setting up against Sidney. On another note, congrats on the wife, m8!
I know the bag trick is tough at 4x speed, but i think you held down the run button to try getting by him, and running will always make a trainer look at you even at 1x speed. just a thought, amazing vid as always!

Unless I'm missing something, there's not really any benefit to using them against wild mons outside of draining PP and it feels a lot more in the spirit of the challenge to let Gardevoir spam out 15 Double Team PP than leveling all the way up to 21 to replace it with Calm Mind.
I know I'm a bit late, but confreakinggrats dude. I've been loving your channel these past few years and it's been a pleasure to watch you grow and improve, and I cannot wait to hear all the wedding stories
Found this channel not too long ago and been binging a lot while thinking "oh this guy talks a lot about his fiancee in old videos, i wonder if they are already married currently". Seems that now you are, congratulations! Wishing the best for you both
Congratulations Scott! When I saw the alert I laughed a little because I couldn't believe I didn't think of Gardevoir when you mentioned that your wedding day would have a special run. Very excited that your fiancee is evolving into your wife and I wish you both so much happiness together!
Thanks for all the amazing videos man, I've been using these to help me get to sleep for months now and its really helped me get around my insomnia you have such a soothing voice! About to go to sleep to this one now but just wanted to say congratulations on the wedding, wishing you a happy honeymoon and rest of ur life
Congrats on the wedding and marriage!! As someone else mentioned, I think HP Ice would have solved the Sidney problem much better than Shock Wave. It makes the Tate & Liza fight a bit harder, but HP Ice still hits Claydol super effectively and Thunderbolt would likely still do enough damage to Solrock/Lunatone, and Psychic does only 5 less damage (90 x 1.5 = 135) damage to Phoebe than HP dark (70 x 2 = 140) does. Also, big fan of your Glalie = Ice/Dark type theory
Missed the premier for travel but congratulations Scott!!! I have loved watching your relationship grow alongside you as a content creator! Thanks for the hours upon hours of great content!
Congratulations! Seeing you grow from a fan of the series making videos when he could to setting a high standard for not only Pokemon content, but UA-cam content has been a privilege to witness. To your marriage and continued growth and success!
Congratulations on your marriage! I wish you both a happy Life together! Gardevoir making up that time loss from dark types and the shockwave fail plus the slow growth rate shows how good psychic types are in gen 3. I always used one in my frontier brain team in gen 3!
Man, I just realized, I think I've been watching you since the start. I remember you only had like three or so videos out when I first saw you. Damn time flies (Time used Fly, its super effective)
I started watching your videos when I met my current fianceé, and it just so happens that we're getting married this weekend too! I've been so happy to see your progression over the years, and I love that you're still just as excited about playing these games as you were back then. Can't wait to see what the future will bring!
Using Substitute to setup CM along with Psychic and Thunderbolt would have been interesting. I think the added utility of preventing status moves like confuse ray and sand-attack would have been more valuable over the added coverage of HP Dark.
Congratulations on the marriage I also noticed you got far better performance wise over the years at Pokémon You will honestly surpass my skill at gen 3 in a year at this rate because I am pretty capped skillwise but you have much more potential than i ever had
Congrats, man. I found your channel probably about a year ago, and I look forward to all your releases. Never really comment, but I am genuinely happy for you and your wife. Wish you two the best
Congratulations! So much happiness on your way through life together. I dont know whos mor lucky you or her as youre an awesome guy! Keep it on like that!
I can't imagine how better it would be if Fairy existed in Gen 3. Fun fact in Gen 6-8, one of its starting moves is Moonblast. Good Video. Gardevoir has always been my fav Psychic type and one my fav Fairy Types. Also congrats.
Congratulations for your achievement! Enjoy the marry ride! The rule exception was fine, even if I did like more the fake out finish. Kind of hard to say how I would approach the challenge differently because all my "other options" like Shadow Ball and HP Fighting hit the bump called Gardevoir's Attack. At least HP would be more flexible if Calm Mind + Thief would be consistent enough against Tate and Liza (which I doubt).
Mega congratulations, Scott! That art of you and your wife is so cute! I always thought paired trainers were really cool, now that you are one you should do a romhack that turns everything into double battles!
Only 18 seconds in, but here's my contribution for the algorithm : CONGRATS FOR THE WEDDING!🎉 I wish you two infinite happiness ❤ What a journey you two are living, and I feel like we've all been with you since you started this channel. Like we say here in France : VIVE LES MARIÉS 🍾
Congrats Scott! I hope you had a great wedding. As for the versus idea. I think Slaking would be a good option. Both the Slaking line and the Gardevoir line are available early but require some investment to get going. They also have completely different styles of play so it would be interesting to see how they play next to each other.
Scott - wishing you and your wife all the best for your special day and for all the days to come!! Your content has provided so many hours of enjoyment in our household. At this point, my own wife will hear a Pokèmon video in the background and go, "say hi to Scott!" So congrats from both of us and don't forget to relax and enjoy life in between all the content!
I felt like the Swagger strat went underappreciated… that was pretty big brain! When I did my Psychic only run in Emerald I spammed out all my PP again
Congratulations Scott, I wish you both a journey together as grand as Ash and Pikachu. Now cringe reference aside I think a cool vs run would be Gardevoir vs Hariyama, the special attacker vs the bulky physical attacker.
Normally I don't comment on these videos because I leave them playing as background noise while I'm doing other things or falling asleep, but I wanted to say congrats on your marriage! Your talk of your partner has always made me smile with how cute it's been, and your wedding date also happens to be on my birthday! So it just felt right to say something this time around.
Man, today is a joyous day. Congrats on the big day. Having been privy to when your girlfriend became your fiancée via your videos as well, I can't help but feel proud and happy over your growth as a content creator and as a person. May you be happy alongside your now wife.
First off, congratulations! 13:21 Yeah, that IS nice health to start sweeping. ;) Also, since you mentioned appreciating corrections, "Kanto" (and all Japanese words with "a") use a soft-a sound like in "father" and "body". :)
The Wally player run should be easy; skipping the tough to raise stages of Ralts and Kirilia and going straight to the Special stat and early Psychic learning menace of Gardevoir should make this a mostly easy run. Hard to access Fire and Ice moves, as well as a lack of Grass move options are the only obstacles I can think of for Gardevoir. 0:18 - First of all, congratulations on your marriage! Secondly, the art of you and your wife is super cute. Thirdly, I assume Gardevoir has been chosen for the wedding dress mega? 2:01 - Wow, who'd have thought Calvin and his Poochyena would be this much of an obstacle. It'll be fun to see whether Ralts will be able to accomplish what Gardevoir could not, despite their significantly lower stats. 3:37 - I feel Gardevoir already had a good bit of balance provided by how it's the only good stage of it's evolution line. In Alakazam's case, you can still get by fine with a Kadabra. Kirilia isn't nearly as useful. 6:39 - The Alakazam of Gen 3, struggling against Poochyenas and Nincadas. This video looks to be quite a short compared to your usual solo challenges so I expect a moment where you just start steamrolling the game. 9:54 - I love that as well. It's really allowed a lot of common trainers to shine in your series and the prestige of them getting their own artworks with little quirks to make them distinct has been a lot of fun. 14:17 - Well, Thief wasn't there for long. Waifu had a short criminal career before becoming an electrician (Ralts always reminded me of the Electric Blanket from Brave Little Toaster, so this seemed fitting). 16:06 - Love how you manage to keep the wedding theme going with your commentary throughout. 19:27 - I was wondering what the plan was for Tate & Liza. This Abra here has received a lot of attention in this Gardevoir run, being compared often with Waifu and aiding in the Teleporting and Double Battle here. 20:35 - Calm Mind + Hidden Power Dark didn't even allow for the mirror match against Wally's Gardevoir to even a little bit exciting. Just steamrolling through the game at this point. 21:10 - The moment I saw Mightyena use Sand Attack, I thought the exact same thing. Given Gardevoir's poor history against Dark types, Sidney was always going to be a challenge. Nice to see the weakest Elite 4 member of Hoenn get some time to shine at least. 24:39 - Seems Phoebe also felt it was time she got some wins of her own. 25:42 - I always thought Glalie was an Ice/Dark type for the longest of times. Apparently it's Pokédex description mentions that it "has a body made of rock, which it hardens with an armor of ice" so Ice/Rock would have also made sense. 29:13 - This is where Gardevoir's lack of Grass options seemed like it would be a problem. I don't know if you have access to the Emerald Move Tutor yet, but there is the option of a couple of Ice moves if you need them. 29:56 - Forget Electric not being super effective against Steel, why isn't Bug resistant to Psychic. I want a buff for my beloved Bugs!
No offense, been here since the very first few videos: I never actually thought that Scott had a girlfriend. I thought it was an elaborate joke, like the Venonat typing joke. Congratulations with your marriage, Scott!
Scott, I have been watching since late 2020, got engaged atound the same time as you, and now it turns out our weddings were 1 week apart! Congratulations man! Hope you thought it was as amazing as I think mine was!
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon it is cool! And right back at you about the fairy tale, mine was better than I could have imagined. Even our wedding vendors were commenting on what a party it was! Looking forward to future content, stay awesome.
I can't get over the fact Scott missed the path behind the house in route 114 😂. Again and again that blind spot shows up. It's amazing how someone with such dedication and passion for the games keeps missing obvious stuff. I love the runs, but i live for these moments 😂.
I'm curious about how Alakazam would do. I think it'd perform a bit worse, because its slightly better SpA and growth rate are more than negated by getting Psychic and Calm Mind far later as well as not learning Thunderbolt. Early Gym Leaders like Wattson or Flannery or even Norman would require more setups, take more time and do more. Late dark, steel and psychic types are also trouble because you only have Shock Wave for them. It's a lot less bulky, and having so much speed is kind of a waste of stats in-game. BTW congrats on the marriage. PS. 22:37 You can get multiple Hidden Powers and temporarily learn Substitute (love that move, makes even the likes of Magcargo somewhat competent) in its place before entering the building to avoid E4 shenanigans.
Congratulations on your wedding Scott, and about glalie being a ice dark mon, the same could be said about huntail and gorebyss being water dark and water psychic
Congrats on the marriage, Scott! I’m happy for you and hope things go well for you and your wife! Regarding Gardevoir, I thought that Hidden Power Ice would’ve been a better decision rather than Dark. Sure, Tate & Liza would’ve been more difficult, but having super effective damage for Sidney’s Grass types (and maybe Drake) would be massive. On a more minor note, I think Trace would’ve been a better ability than Synchronize. No mandatory trainer leads with Slakoth or Slaking, so you won’t be burdened with Truant ever. In turn, there are some useful instances of tracing, like Spinda’s Own Tempo preventing Teeter Dance or Intimidate in general, as well as Sealeo’s Thick Fat. With that said, you put in a good first solo with Gardevoir and I’m excited to see you keep improving at Emerald!
Congratulations on getting married! As long as you two talk though the hard times and try to understand each other's perspective, you'll do great! Been married for 7+ years and that advice kept us together.
If you ever decide to allow Egg moves, your best bet is definitely gonna be Will-o-Wisp (personally, I don't consider TM moves to also be "Egg" moves despite them being passed on during the breeding process). It'll still be a bit on the slow side, but at least it'll provide reliable damage to early Dark-types and keep you from needing to Struggle-spam. Anyway, can't wait for the re-run!
*Throws confetti and rice* Congratulations and many happy returns for your wedding. I hope you will be very happy together, since it seems to be pretty good so far. And this is why I love Psychic types. Major kickass with few blockades. Looking forward to more.
Congratulations for the wedding, I hope both of you have a happy life married!! Gardevoir is one of my favorites pokemon of all time, depending on the day she is tied or even above my favorite, Jolteon. So I'm glad in emerald she truly is the beast I remember her being. Since gen 3 I've always had her on my team when I can get her soon enough (aka, early mid at the very late), even if I decided to not use her. Last time it happened in Violet, I decided my fairy type would be tinkaton and to not bring her for once (specially with Iron Valiant in the game) just catch one ralts for the pokedex, and some time later, I found myself with a timid female ralts in my team called Eve (my usual nickname for Gardevoir) with pretty decent IVs and a few extra ralts in the pc. I'm still not sure what exactly happened, except that I spaced catching pokemon for the beggining of the run, so I probably autopiloted into searching for a decent ralts. At that point I decided I wasn't going to waste the effort, since she covers two of the types I always like to have in my team and fighting types, who can be very scary, are trivialized by her. Funnily enough, she not only managed to get in my team, she also managed to assist to EVERY of the combat classes, as I always had her as the team leader for them. Fair is fair, I *did* notice at the very last that it kept happening, so I put her again in the first spot so she could finish her studies, this time finally on purpose. 31:50 At least until gen 6. Then she EATS dark types for breakfast.
10:39 - IIRC you also get Thief as a tm from a grunt in the museum, so that's another way to fight the grunts lol, unless you were trying to save Thief for later. Edit: IIRC you can actually get this from him the moment you enter the museum and talk to him, not just once it's completed, but that might be a version difference between Emerald and Ruby/Sapphire.
Scott I would love to see a triple Pikachu run on Yellow, the event Pikachu with Surf, the one with Fly and the other with Petal Dance.
Congrats so much on your Wedding Scott and Wife! ❤❤❤

Another option for not using Double Team would be to level up until level 21 and replace Double Team with Calm Mind, so that you can deplete your PP without having to use Double Team.

Congrats Scott! I hope you had a great wedding.
As for the versus idea. I think Slaking would be a good option. Both the Slaking line and the Gardevoir line are available early but require some investment to get going. They also have completely different styles of play so it would be interesting to see how they play next to each other.
Congratulations!
Gardevoir was one of my favourite pokemon when I first got Emerald.
Congratulations on your wedding, Scott! Hoping for the best for you and your family in your new phase of life!
Congratulations on the wedding Scott! I’m so happy for you, friend.
Damn, there's a lot o videos! I need to catch up with them by binge them all haha! Btw, congratulations on your wedding brother!🎉
Man, today is a joyous day. Congrats on the big day. Having been privy to when your girlfriend became your fiancée via your videos as well, I can't help but feel proud and happy over your growth as a content creator and as a person. May you be happy alongside your now wife.
Congrats! Kinda funny, I started watching this video right after I got home from my cousin's wedding.
Congratulations Scott, and Wife of Scott. I'm very happy for you both.
Congratulations Scott. Here's to many more years.
Congratulations! May your future be filled with happiness and much more Pokémon content!
What an intro!!! Congrats to you and your wonderful wife! I hope you two have a long life full of happiness and playthroughs of Venomoth together!
First off, congratulations!
13:21 Yeah, that IS nice health to start sweeping. ;)
Also, since you mentioned appreciating corrections, "Kanto" (and all Japanese words with "a") use a soft-a sound like in "father" and "body".
Congratulations Scott :) wishing you and your wife a life time of happiness! Also gardevoir one of my favourite pokes, love the video
Congrats Sir. Best wishes for you and the missus!
Congratulations! My day was straight out of a fairy tale. So special. It’s really cool that our weddings were so close together!
Always happy to make it for a Scott’s thoughts premiere
Congratulations Scott and wife!!! So, so happy for both of you!!!
Congrats Scott!!!
I'm so happy for you
Congratulations from France Scott !
Wish you all the best !!!
Thank you for your work.
I love your content sooooooo much 😁😁😁
Congrats on the marriage Scott! Gardevoir is also one of my favorite pokemon!
Many many congratulations Scott! Have an amazing, successful, happy and blessed life. ♥️
With that said, you put in a good first solo with Gardevoir and I’m excited to see you keep improving at Emerald!
couldn't hidden power bug be better, since it covers the same grass typing but also allows it to hit dark and deal super effective damage to psychic?
Congratulations on getting married! As long as you two talk though the hard times and try to understand each other's perspective, you'll do great!
Been married for 7+ years and that advice kept us together.
Congratulations to you and your wife. I hope you have a good time. Really enjoy your videos and overall positive attitude.
Congratulations for the wedding Scott !! So happy for you both 💖
Congrats on your wedding Scott. I wish you guys a lifetime of happiness.
Congratulations! Here’s to many years of wedded bliss!
"Und wenn sie nicht gestorben sind, dann leben sie noch Heute." -German version of "they lived happily ever after"
Congratulations for the wedding, I hope both of you have a happy life married!!
It's always been that way in every version. He just didn't know because he isn't as familiar with Hoenn.
First things first congrats on the wedding. I wish you many years of happiness.
