what turned you visible? oh! it is in the description. what a crazy fluke. that is pretty cool how you managed to hit him twice with the hammer and stay invis. It is somewhat cheesy, but I started this fight the normal way, hit him with the hammer (for the mephit xp), and then flew up to the ledge to kill the mephits and hit him several times before flying back down to heat him up again and finish him off. Grats for showing a death - it helps us all learn. on a side note, I feel like Pillars 1 was so much better at gameplay than Bg3. You actually had to fight things in Pillars, from what I recall, rather than cheese, stealth and/or 1-shot and/or globe of invuln everything to death. And you could, with the exception of having to be super careful about getting turned to stone. Pillars 2 went a bit too overboard with its ultimate, in my opinion, but its "normal" hardcore max diff solo was also really well done, I'd say. Feels like Larian took such a step backwards in terms of gameplay. Far better story and presentation, of course. Playing BG3 with a party is trivial, but there is no real mode/achievement support for solo.
Yes, I have killed him like this in practice runs several times (just never accidentally killed an imp to to reset invis) you never lose invis by operating the levers. Pillars 1 also had cheesy builds or a straight up exploit one, the chanter. BG3 is just much less dangerous due to enemy stats, enemy abilites follow the same rules as players (without a creative mind behind it to create busted combos), while in games like pillars enemies got overtuned stats/damage numbers. This was a lot worse in PO2 tho, POE1 was very balanced and fun.
GG... I picked up quite a few tips and tricks watching you work, TY!
Yeah, this is why I never stepped down off the ledge for this fight on my HM run. Never know what weird bug or interaction is going to end you.
