Hi Ron, thanks for brining that up. That's something we will have to take into consideration for next time. Great suggestion in the dirt. We did measure each tire, mounted to the wheel, and all with the same air pressure, but not on the vehicle. All 22 of the 25" tires we tested measured between 24-1/4" and 25-1/4". The majority were 24-1/4" with just two measuring exactly 25" and two which measured larger than 25". Tread depth was .57" to 1.1" with most being pretty close to 1". Lots of variables. How would you propose the tires be measured? Mounted or Unmounted? If mounted, at what air pressure? Thanks for watching! - Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
Chaparral Motorsports that's great news. I've not been that lucky with tires that have more of a sport, knobby type tread. Some have been over two inches smaller than what they were labeled as. Thanks for letting us know these are fairly accurate. Yes, if you measure them do it with them on the rim and aired up to a medium to max recommended pressure in them as that would be when it matters to most of us, I think
I really appreciate all the hard work your crew put into the review. I live in Arizona where it is hard packed rocky ,wooden terrain. Having ridden your terrain on my adventure bikes and in my brother's Rhino & Mavrick, I would pick the Quadboss QBT446. It is less "directional" than the QBT446 and has more pliable tread then the STI. - Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

A test that you did not do, how they perform on wet rock or wet clay.. I have used several tires myself as well as ride with people who have various tires.. My liking for the top tire for all around, are the Interco Reptile radials, only to be out done in one category by the MudCat (Ocelot P-375) and that was wet rocks and wet clay.. mainly because of the soft compound of the MudCats.. but they do not wear very well at all.. I don't know if you tested the Reptiles or if you did what your results were but in my opinion the Reptile is the best all around tire (other than wet rocks - and even there they were not totally lacking and were more than adequate and only slightly took second behind the MucCat).. The only real drawback of the Reptiles is in sand or very extreme loose dirt where you will dig a hole really fast, (mainly because of the aggressive tread and 1 inch deep cleats) and compromise your situation so throttle control is a must in the really extreme loose stuff.. In order to get the Reptiles to perform on par with the MudCats on wet rock - dropping the air pressure in the Reptiles almost produces the same results as MudCats (but who is going to keep adjusting tire pressure while on the trail)..
Thank you Jim Richard for your comments. We did not test the Reptile nor the MudCat tires. Wet Rock / Wet Clay is a great suggestion for our next round of testing! Thank you for watching. - Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

Finding this weird. Have had a cupple of these tires. But, not one of them, can beat big horn 2.0 in norwegian terrain. Not in the swamps, not in steep slippery hills with wet or dry stones, not in sandy condition, not on wet slippery root sections. And, not in breaking on asphalt or gravel.. So, I'm not relying on this test, because I fint it not correct at all. The tires that I have had is, ams slingshot xt. Kenda mastadon at. And ITP mudlite xtr. Good question... They will all do okay, but in ICE I'd stud them or run chains still.... - Kyle
I'd like to see a video of tires that actually are the size that they claim to be!
Yes, if you measure them do it with them on the rim and aired up to a medium to max recommended pressure in them as that would be when it matters to most of us, I think
in the dirt, Tires can have the same number and not even be close to one another. Crazy !!
I really appreciate all the hard work your crew put into the review. I live in Arizona where it is hard packed rocky ,wooden terrain. We do get rain in snow, mother nature permitting.am Riding a Suzuki King quad 700 i’m looking at the quad boss 446 or sti rocktane or quad boss 447 What would your recommendation be out of these three tires. For these riding conditions conditions. Thanks again for all the hard work.
Having ridden your terrain on my adventure bikes and in my brother's Rhino & Mavrick, I would pick the Quadboss QBT446. It is less "directional" than the QBT446 and has more pliable tread then the STI. - Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
Chaparral Motorsports thanks for your import and taking the time to get back to me on this matter.
Yes Sir! In AZ I spend a lot of time out near Lake Pleasant or up near Mormon Lake. Both are great places to rip, and have very different terrain. But, I'd totally rip the QBT446 tire in either location. - Kyle
This makes me happy that i bought the sling shots (mainly due to the price being cheap)
Whatever works!

Great review
Thank you Sir for watching and for taking the time to comment. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
those don't look like the new kenda bearclaw HTRs. I just put a set on my bike. also, you didn't mention plys, which is very important for toughness. that's a way more useful rating than braking.
Thank you for your comment breathe and squeeze. Yes, it looks like the image our editor used for the Kenda HTR stats was an incorrect Sedona Mud Rebel RT tire image. The stats are correct though. Here is the HTR specific video with it's stats: ua-cam.com/video/joY6JquiMd4/v-deo.html - Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
Oh... and nice catch by the way breathe and squeeze!
Was the Maxxis zillas in this test?
Hello, sorry we did not test the Maxxis Zillas.
@@chaparralmotorsports I saw in another comment that maxxis didn’t participate. That’s unfortunate. Although I’m on the east coast, some of the results would be different, it was a nice comparison, I haven’t seen another larger scale test like this yet. Thanks
What about snow?
Hello, unfortunately due to our testing locations, we were not able to test this tires in snow.
Does anyone know where the AMS Slingshot is made?
I think two key areas that were missed in this test. Puncture resistance (difficult to test I know) and road noise (easy to test and can be a real deal breaker)
Hi Charlie, thanks for watching and commenting. You make some good observations. Yeah a puncture test would be tough but I think it could be done. The noise test is definitely one we probably should have added. Maybe next time. Thanks again.
Road noise is irrelevant on a tire that is primarily offroad in dirt and mud on an atv or scan that's going to be louder than the sound of the tire.
What tire would you recommend for a 2018 Honda pioneer? Looking for something 26”
Hello ReelinTension, we have many great tire options for your Pioneer. What are your primary uses? That will help us to lead you in the correct direction. Thanks for watching. - Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
I will be riding in swamps, power lines, logging roads, dirt roads. Some atv parks and use around my hunting camp.
Hello ReelinTension, thank you for your inquiry. If you are on a budget, the Ocelot P375 comes in a 26" for $76.88 Front and $83.88 for the rear. This was the #2 tire in our tire test: www.chapmoto.com/ocelot-p375-atv-utv-tire-parent-748-p375-0000 A tire that was not tested, as it was not yet made would be our new TG Maxx Plus tire. It mimics the 1st Palce tire and is less than $80 per tire : www.chapmoto.com/tg-maxx-plus-utility-atv-utv-tire-parent-748-q375-0000 The Maxx Plus would be my non-test recommendation. Thanks for watching! - Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
Mega mayhems would be best. Just trust me
Yes sir, the Mega Mayhems are great tires too! A bit more pricey, but great tires.
I going to get a set of slingshot for my Sportsman XP 1000 but they don't have my size.
According to our records the 2018 Polaris Sportsman XP 1000 Front Tire 26 x 8-14 and Rear Tire 26 x 10-14 The perfect Slingshot tires for you will be Size: 26 x 9 - 14 and Size: 26 x 11 - 14 These are just 1" wider front and rear than your OEM tires and will work great. - Kyle
Chaparral Motorsports no 27"
Awesome vid
Thanks for watching Ryan!
I want to buy an atv tire set
Hello, here you go: www.chapmoto.com/atv/tires/
Finding this weird. Have had a cupple of these tires. But, not one of them, can beat big horn 2.0 in norwegian terrain. Not in the swamps, not in steep slippery hills with wet or dry stones, not in sandy condition, not on wet slippery root sections. And, not in breaking on asphalt or gravel..
So, I'm not relying on this test, because I fint it not correct at all.
The tires that I have had is, ams slingshot xt.
Kenda mastadon at.
And ITP mudlite xtr.
None of these beats big horn 2.0 any day.
That's ok, you might experience different results with your vehicle(s), terrain, etc.
These soil conditions are not accurate for an east coast review. Great testing procedures though. Well executed
Yeah, unfortunately we are on the west coast, so we had to make do with the soil we have. Thanks for watching.
Next time include "Comfort ride test" (vibration on the road)
Good call! They are off road non-DOT tires so it didn't really cross our minds. BUT these vehicles do get run on the road often. We will add that to our next test. Thanks for chiming in - Kyle
Why no maxxis?
Thanks for watching and for your inquiry. Maxxis chose not to participate. - Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
From my experience ITP tires are total junk. They don't hold up and start cracking between lugs and leak. JUNK.
Looking to possibly go with itp .. anyone else have this negative experience with the brand? Only asking because this is the first I’ve heard this and I’m relatively new to the scene
I use Sedona ripsaw on my renegade 1000
Nice! They do work well and are a super popular tire as seen in sales compared to other brands of tires. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
Yt pancreas do u like the ripsaws
Austin Clark i like the grip and the limited slip on wet terrain, but they are very heavy.
LOL.. Where are the BIGHORNS? HAHA
Maxxis decided they did not want to participate. Maybe next time...
Was it that funny?
Which tires made in USA?
Thank you for your inquiry and Great question! ITP and Tensor are the only two companies that are exclusively / primarily made in the USA. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
Thanks so much, double thumbs up!
skankhunt42 you must hate America and have no idea about history. America has been in decline is direct relation to China’s rise. But you must be to young and to dumb to know better.
it was a great tire review but i feel like you could have done the break tests a little more fairly instead of just slamming on the breaks and seeing what tire slides the farthest. maybe let off the break a little bit and allow it to slip so it doesnt start sliding so you could actually slow down faster just a little constructive criticism maybe you did do that maybe you didnt but to me it looks like you did just slam the breaks
Thank you for your suggestion meh mehemna. We played with various methods, and chose the "slam on an hold" method as we were not able to find a "consistent" way to manually modulate the brakes. What other tests would you like to see incorporated next time? -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
@@chaparralmotorsports i think you guys just about covered everything for these kinds of tires maybe yall should do a comparison of all the more extreme mud tires i feel like alot of people would find that useful yall are running a good channel and even reading comments keep up the good work
@@zachthemiscreant8058 Thanks! Yes, .... we will need to take a field trip to find some good MUD to test mud tires. It took me weeks to make the Mud Bog for this test and it was really limiting. Thanks for your comments and for your support. - Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
@@chaparralmotorsports depending where your at you could find an atv park people flock there to go mudding you could find several different kinds of mud holes some are really thick some are watery with a little mud some are deep ruts with water on top there are so many variations if you are actually considering making another guide for mud tires search mud puppy on youtube he is extremely knowledgeable about mudding and mud tires you could get some ideas or help from his videos
@@zachthemiscreant8058 Thank you for the feedback. We are in the desert west of Arizona and south of Death Valley. Not too much mud here... We have sandy soil. I smell a field trip!
Hmm, missing some real good tires, and this review is also missing ride quality (balance at high speed asphalt) and road noise ratings
Great suggestions on additional tests ut1004bp
! 21 sets of tires were tough to plow through... What other tires would you have liked to have seen tested? Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment. - Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
Yes, like highway tires are not meant to be driven Off Road but we do
I sell tires for a living in Canada . This is a very , very miss leading video ! Why would you compare the ITP Blackwater to a Kenda Bearclaw THAT is not a fair fight ! Why did they not have the Kenda Executioner in this dog fight ? The ITP Blackwater is more designed for the bigger and stronger ATV and I would never sell a set of 25" Blackwater to my customers .
Thanks for the advice. We'll take this into consideration next time we do testing.
RIP kodiak wet clutches.
Pfff...sand...come up to the real mountains with sharp rocks.
Hi, while we do have mountains not too far from us, we chose locations that offered varying terrain/obstacles and were in close proximity to our headquarters in the event that if anything went wrong we could get the parts or whatever was needed quickly and easily. Thanks for watching.
You can not rate heavyweight tires on your atv with out putting a clutch pack. Unfair rating system. Customer who put heavy tire on without a boost in performance is being set up for failure. If you are a power sport company you would know this and advise your customers accordingly.
Thank you for your comment C351fast back. The vehicle we were testing on came stock with the same size tires we were testing. If a consumer is making a tire upgrade to a larger heavier tire... they will need to do other upgrades too, that is true. We were testing tires rated for the vehicle we were using. Thanks for watching. - Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
a 700 they lack power !!!!!!!!!
We had plenty of power for all the variety of testing we did.
Rider cannot consistently perform these tasks.
Thanks for the insight. Multiple riders were used for this testing.
This is bullshit you cant do that with just one ATV you put them on a shitty ATV at that , different atv will go better than others this is such shit !!!
Hey stoney, sorry our testing procedures did not sit well with you, (even though if you read the comments throughout the entire video series--some 26 videos we put together--the majority of our viewers were very pleased and could appreciate the information that was provided.) You showed great enthusiasm with your comment and are more than welcome to purchase 4 sets of all the tires we tested (21 different tire models I believe) and all the ATVs you feel are required, and conduct your own tests. Thanks for watching.
you can not take one ATV and put tires on that atv and say it will perform the same on all atvs, we have over 50 people in our Group and we all have different atvs most have the same tires and one will do way better than the other atvs with the same tire and the rider has alot to do with it to, I'm glad you do your videos put the tires on different ATVS and riders and they will perform different on every one
@@stoneycarter5546 It's a comparison of one machine. You know how that works right?
You still can compare with that ONE machine. It will give a person something to think about.
You really think they can compare all the ATV's with ALL the tires??? You R Twisted Bra!🤣
It’s a comparative measurement, man…there’s nothing wrong with it whatsoever. It absolutely can be done with just one machine and is exactly how it should be done.
