- In Persona 4, Daisuke Nagase is one of two Strength Arcana, or Strength Social Link the game presents. P4 and P4G make sure to emphasize his jock like nature, before tearing down and rebuilding who Daisuke is before your eyes. Daisuke isn't just a jock. But someone forces to play a role, a role that if he ever lets down, he's afraid he will be left alone.

This made me sad I went with Kou's route . As a guy thats not overly interested in sex, I always felt this disconnect and felt like I should because that's what guys are suppose to like. Later in life I found that not everyone is like that and its just an expectation put on by society. Great analysis and I'm so glad that one of my all time favorite games covered this topic

Babe wake up the new P4 analysis just dropped! I always loved Daisuke and Kou's friendship as it felt like the realest one in the game to me. They rip on each other a lot, but the second something is wrong with one the other has his back no questions asked. Reminds me of my friends every time I see these two in game. Daisuke and Kou are just another great example of how real the P4 characters feel. On a side note, do you know when the Chie video may be dropping? She's tied with Yosuke for my favorite character in the game but I haven't seen anyone else on here talk about her with the amount of depth you put into your videos. Thanks again for all the hard work you're putting into this series and I can't wait to watch your next video!
I agree, Daisuke and Kou's relationship is really something special, and I go more into that in Kou's segment which will hopefully drop sometime in the next cpuple months. It's a bit longer than this one even. As for the chue video! It will be likely the second video in a set of the playable character weekly videos near the end. So I imagine in just over 2 months Yosuke and her videos will be dropping probably back to back. That's of course subject to change but that's the current plan.
Sweet! I just found this video and I'm a big fan of p4 it's definitely my favorite even if I'd play through 5 before 4 or 3 again. I don't really have a favorite social link even, i like them all allot (well besides ... *One.*) This game is home. It's got an odd nostalgic feeling that i dig hardcore. Maybe because i grew up in a small town like this?

Yeah, the strength is mainly about the taming of your desires. Not repressing and not setting free. The strength is a balance within yourself and an ability to hold yourself in proper judgment. That takes a lot of endurance and control

I actually really resonate with Daisuke as a person. When confronted with someone who likes me I always try to escape the situation. I never really thought about it like this whenever doing his social link.

2:15 Seriously, while I thought the anime was enjoyable and funny, it really seems to have given people a skewed vision of who Yu is. But as far as I can tell, not only is the anime non-canon, it also didn't include a single writer from the Persona 4 team. Heck, I think the Japanese VA for Yu once commented how hard it was to voice the character because the direction in the anime and games were so different.
Feels nice getting a comment like this. I have another segment in the works going into the flanderization of the p4 cast and ways of interpreting Canon in persona 4 but it's nice for you to mention a few of the notable things surrounding it. The anime attempts to animate any possible fanservice moments all at once, which makes sense as a lighthearted retelling of the game, but once it crosses into informing interpretation on the original character, it starts to muddy the clear intent of the original work. Sometimes in minor ways, sometimes in very toxic major ones
I get the argument but the game does somewhat imply exactly the same thing. Day one Yu made two friends one of them being the popular girl, people were talking about him being from the city as you walked in, several characters are implied to like him blatantly (like Rise), he is immediately put into the position of leader, he's the one who first got the powers, he's the wild card who gets to use the velvet room, hell the VELVET ROOM IS A LIMO. It's literally spelled out for us that Yu is that person. The Anime does imply a lot of things changing for him that explains his attitude being what it is. He only becomes an emotive chad by the end because his stats went up, as it shows on the ad break screens. Early on Yu didn't emote much for that reason, he was just the quiet kid with no redeeming qualities. He was only a chad in the anime because by that time in the game he was the same way. I don't know what it says about the self insert character when you complain that he's too cool. In my playthrough, that was my Yu.

@@michaelbrown3727 When it comes to writing Yu, it feels like the anime's policy was to pick every joke option, even if a lot of the responses to those in-game were "Wow, that's out of character for you, Yu." He really comes across as a bit of an immature dick a lot of the time, which is fine for the sake of humor, but in the games, he's always been established as someone who's seen as mature, polite, and very kind.
Being emotive isn't really an issue--actually I thought Anime!Yu could be too emotive at times, such as the Namatame scene where he completely loses it, whereas in game, Yosuke is both pissed off and impressed that Yu is being so calm about the situation.
I will grant that it is implied that Yu is a massive pervert based on his "perceived choices" (regardless of what the player chooses), such as the camping trip swim scene and the beauty pageant. Knowing what we know about the Midnight Channel implies it was Yu's sexual desires that made it zoom in on Rise's chest/waist. He was willing to have sex--twice--behind Dojima's back and when it comes to flirting, he's arguably worse than Rise.
...However, I wouldn't call Yu a "Chad". He can handle the girls and be smooth just fine whenever they're alone, but whenever he's with his friends or in public, he's quick to get embarrassed. Yu is clearly very awkward and nervous during the in-game King's Game and he's so shy that he hides his romantic relationship from all of his friends and gets embarrassed if Yosuke suspects he went on a date with someone during the Summer Festival.
And while it might be easy to fill in the blanks and assume P4!Yu is actually similar to Anime!Yu, but the Yu from P4U/DaN and the Anime!Yu may as well be two completely different people.
@@zeveria7206 My interpretation was more-so that when Yu was doing the 'joke' options it was due to a lack of charisma, the fact that he was choosing to say the weird thing at that time. He surprisingly stops doing that after a while because he stops being just the weird kid. I also think it plays more into the themes of the game, that Yu is only a confident person they look up to because he got lucky in having the support he needed, and for that reason he's afraid to lose them because it's not who he is without them. It's for that reason that even in an underlying way I think Yu is better characterized in the anime. He gets over emotive comparatively at the end because he grew as a person. Early in the anime he didn't have the ability to react to things, such as when he falls off the cliff into the water with a blank face. Later in the anime however due to the progress he makes, he is emotive. He gets sad that he's losing someone he cares about, and knowing Yu and what motivates him of course he's getting overemotive. We have to remember that Yu and Adachi have to be the same coin here, Yu would be Adachi without them. So overboard emotion when someone he cares about is being hurt makes a LOT of sense for his character. Don't get me wrong he does seem shy about the relationships in the game, but the show doesn't reference them at all. Also the show makes the distinction that Yu was drunk in the scene he was confident during the king's game(even if not actually, he thought he was and was acting as if he was). I don't think the shy part of dating comes up because he doesn't date anyone in the anime besides Ai, and he definitely didn't seem too confident there.
I'm a girl in highschool, but I feel like I relate to this a lot. I've never dated anyone, but everytime I come close to dating someone or intimacy in generalbI have to fight the feeling of running for the hills. For the longest time I never even hung out with people because of that weird feeling. Now that I've finally found some friends I connect and want to spend time with, I hope I can find a partner like that someday. Im terrified of rejection, but I also reject people who overtly ask me out because I'm afraid of disappointing their expectations of me. And I don't even know where to start. Recently somebody tried to hold my hand and I had to shyly pull away. Im not ace, but I struggle with admitting I like people in the first place to the point where a lot of my friends think that I'm ace. If I got a boyfriend, would talking be awkward? Would he expect me to hug him and kiss him? What if he doesn't like my family or my family doesn't like him? Its all too scary.

I love those two and their dinamic as friends. I always chose the basketball team but in my last gameplay I chose Daisuke and I was surprised that I enjoyed more his SL than Kou´s.
They both offer great indepth looks at the power of desire, and attempting to control without suppressing them. Aside from that the way they do it is so different and yet specific. I can see people favoring either one for their own reasons. The kou video will be out eventually. It's actually a bit longer than this one
Daisuke was one of the first links I completed and he honestly stayed as one of my favorites throughout the game. I've always really resonated with him and I thought this video really helped highlight a lot of the aspects I liked most about his character. The personal stories you included about your own life in this video as well as the other ones so far are honestly really impressive of you to add and really elevate this project past what's been done before. I always wished the main character was able to date Daisuke. I had to come to terms with my homosexuality in high school, didn't really conform to gay stereotypes, and had to deal with all my buddies pressuring me to date girls. I saw a lot of myself in him.

This is the first video I've ever come across from your channel but I love it so far! I bought this game like almost 10 years ago and still have yet to finish it in its entirety but the character writing was the major 'strength' of the game as a whole. Sure! I wanted to get the idea across, since just describing Daisuke's struggle in the more abstract I was afraid wasn't getting across the feeling
The Strength Arcana as I've been taught represents certain things you didn't quite touch on. The 'Strength' part of the arcana comes from the lion, specifically in what it takes for the lion to protect their master. It represents not just being strong, but rather ones on fortitude or resistance to outside forces and their love for the people they are strong for (hence in the past it was referred to as Fortitude or Lust). Strength's card represents being strong for others, compassionate love, and the desire to be there when other's need it. Persona 4 has a neat thing where it makes the character's grow to become their arcana by overcoming their shadow (which is usually represented by the flip side of their arcana). If we look at it like this Daisuke is only strength because he had to learn to rely on others and be strong for others instead of just himself, much like a lion being tamed and protecting its tamer. His true strength as a person can only come out if he learns to leave his nature and trust others, like the lion. Just though you should know :p

Just want to say you're not alone regarding issues with intimacy. In the (very few) times I've actually had a girlfriend, they've always expected me to be hypersexual all of the time, and expected me to be the one to, say, message them first/a lot, drive things 100% of the time, always show a deep, intimate drive, and just... I don't have the energy and I have anxiety about showing the real me. I can't be the person they want me to be, and oftentimes, it feels like I'll never find the kind of love where someone can accept my limitations and my truest, fullest self.
It doesn't help that in the times when I show my true self in a friend group I've, up to that point, kept at a sensible arm's length because of simply not knowing them that well, it tends to eventually backfire in one way or another. From there, I tend to exile myself in shame.
Now it's got to the point that I'm exceedingly avoidant, and don't want to put any effort into any relationship that isn't guaranteed to stick around (like my closest friends). When I first played P4G, I had some spoilers going in, but it seemed nobody cared enough to rant and rave about Daisuke, but honestly? He was one of the most relatable S-links I've experienced in the game.

I played the Steam port of Golden 2 or 3 years back, and these videos keep shocking me how much i didn't pick up on/have forgotten since playing. I picked Daisuke and maxed his link but hadn't a clue about his escapist work ethic nor how he was negotiating the role assigned to him by others. I don't think i even properly understood what girls meant to him even though that seems to have been right there in the text. Thank you for your video: it helped me better understand the subtleties of his character

I really love your persona 4 golden videos. I get torn which to choose: Kou or Daisuke back when I played the vanilla version years ago. This was really amazing. Love every video you do. I didn't really delve much deep into the characters. This makes me appreciate the game so much more. Gotta finish persona q so I can focus on persona 4 golden. Though I say this, I'm going to play golden after working today. ahaha.

I’m glad I watched this. I have a really close friend who told me that Daisuke was a lot like me, and at first I could kind of get it but it just didn’t resonate. But after watching this breakdown I completely agree with him, it’s almost 1 to 1. Gives me a lot to think about.

Watching your videos makes me wonder what you think of Persona 5. You're the first person I've seen who truly digs deep into Persona 4 and its characters. Everytime I see a review of Persona 5 it's either completely loving it or hating it. I'd like to see your opinion on it since your probably the one person in the Persona community that seems to know what they're talking about.
Personally, I didn't like the story and characters for the most part but Yoshida is one of the best Persona characters in my opinion.
I like Persona 5! If you wanted a detailed look at my thoughts though, I would have to do a similar series on P5, and for how big this P4G project is, I would have to be pretty financially secure to dump 6 months researching the series again for P5. I also hate that tendency withing the broader megaten community to broadlabel so and so as the best, the worst, mid, ruining the franchise, etc ,etc, it's all so baity and toxic to me. I really appreciate the nice things you said here though. Generally, I had some issue with the messaging thematically of the original P5, but I think P5R really elegantly fixed the issues I had there. In general I'd say I like most of the characters. I played base p5 once all the way through, and P5R 2 times, but I'd honestly have to play a couple more times and with more intensive focus to be ready to analyze it. There is SO MUCH DIALOGUE in Persona 5. It's intimidating haha.

Especially the Confidants that gets slept on by most people like Shinya’s because of him being an optional one you have to take steps to initiate or Ohya’s due to her atrocious bonus outside of unlocking Beelzebub for fusion.
Heck, your take on the new major characters in Strikers with Sophie and Zenkichi would make for incredible analysis in how they embody their arcanas despite having no SL/C attached to them or even an official visual on what their cards looks like.

I think the title is a bit misleading. Because he does have people who like the real him. But in reality though you do end up with cases of people who no one likes the real them and so they compromise to blend in.
I speak from experience as someone who has pretty much been alone their whole life and only really fit in when I told people what they wanted to hear.
If nobody likes the real you?...mhhh...I was ''Popular'' in school even tho i never socialized with anyone, girls would sit next to me on lunch, older and younger, I never minded them, many tried to steal kisses from me, and it was because I was a quiet kid, not because I hated people but because I never really met anyone who felt similar to me, or cared for what I cared, if talked I would glady answer back, but instead of people trying to get to meet me, they made this image of me, when I brought my videogame console to school almost everyone understood I was a nerd and stoped their weird ideas, but I was fine with that, I never wanted to be with a crowd of people pleasing their ideas of a fake me to be popular, what it matters to be popular if no one cares for the you that matters?
I've choosen to be myself and been alone a lot, for a long time too, but the one friends I made have been always appreciating me, been there for me and I been there for them, while the people I saw that lie to get people always seem alone even in a big crowd, and when they mess up and show their ugly side they just are left alone by their ''friends''

Here I'm just gonna paste part of another reply I did clarifying my position if that's alright: "My main point was that the flanderization of Yu's character in subsequent projects led much of the western community to associate something with Yu that is not absolutely true to his character. That's all my point was."
Yes Yu is seen as generally popular and cool- but it isn't a memefied absolutism, and he isn't some player chad in his actions like portrayed elsewhere. Infact many scenes, like one of the most egregious examples being the game and first anime's depiction of the tatsumi port island trip, are substantial enough depiction differences that it's hard to argue the same character is even being shown.

Great video! Even though I was fond of Daisuke, I think I had some trouble understanding the intimacies of his arc. At the time I played the game I was a high schooler that had recently come out to myself about being aromantic asexual, and so I sometimes felt prickly or distant when I felt asked to engage in discussions about dating or sexuality. I’m glad to get such a loving perspective now that I’m older.
Really lovely and nuanced analysis although the lack of consideration for a queer interpretation kinda stuck out to me, btw I'm not referring to the jokes/relationship with kou but rather the general plot beats as they relate specially to otherwise hyper masculine queer man as in the tendency to push out female relationships of any kind by pre occupying ourselves with hobbies/work, balancing the lack of desire for women while having confusing platonic love for them, and trying to Disassociate yourself from sex/romance all together, I understand how you personally related his character to your own hardships as a (presumably) straight man and honestly I found that segment very thoughtful, well constructed and brave and in the same way you could say I'm doing the same in centering MY own hardshipswith my reading of the SL and there's nothing wrong with neither of us doing that but regardless I thought It'd maybe be nice to add another interpretation.
It's neither here nor there but I don't consider myself to be straight (or cis for that matter) but I agree I could have clarified Daisuke's feelings as a potential aspect of AroAce representation. I mainly left that for people to find themselves if they releated to Daisuke but if I'll prob add that bit for the full release video (this is only 1 segment in an upcoming whole video where I'm planning on adding many additions like this)

I never liked the idea of having to choose one of two characters for an arcana cause it just felt off and would affect a new game plus run since you can connect with the other person easily, but at least it’s something to look forward to in there stories. I never really saw much of a story in Daisuke and the band girl, which makes me think that your true character arcanas would’ve been Kou and Drama girl.
I'm not sure whether you've mentioned it or not in the videos there is significance for having Kou and Daisuke being the strength arcana. The arcana is usually depicted as a strong and powerful beast being guided and directed by a woman, given that both their struggles stem from close female individuals (Daisuke's ex and Kou's sister) in their life (not necessarily maliciously just simply the origin for their struggle).
Obviously Daisuke and Kou's struggles reach far beyond the problems stemming from these girls but it's an interesting note.
BROOOO I NEVER KNEW THIS WAS ACTUALLY A THING OTHER PEOPLE HAD.. I still suffer with this ngl, I can't tell you the amount of times I've had girls be interested in me one way or another, and it didn't matter, I'd always run away and scream at myself as soon as I was away. Idk it's just scary idk why, and it doesn't help when all my guy friends are always talking about how I should've done this or that, how they would've loved to be in my position, but to me it just leaves me chasing for the next opportunity, only to run away once I reach it...
That's unfortunate that you have had to go through that, but yeah- this sort of feeling is what people are talking about when they refer to the aroace spectrum for romanticism and sexuality. Not saying you are ace, but your sexual and/or romantic interests may be more reliant on specific things you yourself may have to work out. This can also stem from trauma, or a perfectly normal performance anxiety over letting down your partner (since you're inexperienced) Just know - it's much more common than you think! Feel like this video and some stuff in the comments here really highlight why I as someone who played P4 completely blind (before Golden even came out) has always had a problem reconciling how I and someone who's experienced P4 mostly through the anime and the spin-off games (almost everyone until 2020 and the rerelease) views P4, what they like with P4 just doesn't match with mine. The emotionally complex depth of P4 as this video showed a great example of is something I just don't see reflected. Yu himself is a pretty good embodiment of this difference
Obviously, I understood he had to be different in the anime bcs how I see him depends in part on my choices, plus you can't have an almost silent protag in an anime but still, he just as this series has just really lost its depth and this video reminding me of how deep the game really was at times also reminded me how lost all that is on others and it really makes me so sad

Yeah his is pretty good. I like that in Kou's link, Kou mentions doing a group date to get his mind off things, and in Daisuke's link Kou sets up a group date to try and help Daisuke. It does seem more was put into Kou though since the book scenes do more to characterize him in a specific context

My first emotion when interacting with others is always annoyance first, and anger very closely second. When I was a child I was a "poor" loser to put it very kindly, I would lash out and physically attack my siblings or my babysitters if I started losing in anything. I felt like I was in prison when I was forced into school, even in first grade I felt like I was constantly being punished and restrained. If my family wanted to hang out with me, say go for a bike ride, I would cry and yell the entire time until they relented and I was left alone. When I had to do chores I would get so angry I would be imagining how I could get physical revenge on my own parents while doing the chores.
Afterwards, once I calmed down, I always felt immense regret. So immense that I felt crushed and small, yet I could never remember that feeling in the heat of the moment and I never found a way to express that feeling to others as other people have always just forgiven me without my even asking. So I found the only way I could coexist with other humans was to start to deny and bottle every feeling I had as every feeling eventually lead straight to anger. Now I don't have any desire or ambition and am just alive so my family doesn't have to go to a funeral and pay for that.
I always wonder what life could be like if I just let myself attack others, let myself take whatever I wanted and let others suffer at my expense. If I would have enjoyed life. Let myself just stop caring about what others think.

Ok, I personally think you did Misinterpretation here...
While the some or most of the Fandom depict Yu as a Chad or Someone that Everyone loves, the Better Depiction of "Everyone loves Yu" is that "Everyone" in this Meaning is more lean into those who are in Yu's Social Circle or simply People who Yu got close to & Vice versa not "Everyone" as in the Whole World...
Hell, the Anime Adaptations (The OG & P4G) even show People who aren't close to Yu & Yu not close to Everyone except those who are his Social Links.
& Example about this in the Anime is when Chie introduced Yu to Kou & Daisuke in the Basketball Court. Kou then introduces his Team to Yu but instead of being like a Team, almost everyone left Yu & Kou to take care of the Basketball Court.
The other Thing to note is that though the Anime Adaptation is Different, I wouldn't say that it's Non-Canon, rather as another Means to tell the P4 Story & to a ceratin Extent, another Timeline (as well it's other Adaptations) since the Persona Series as Part of the Megaten Series, isn't New to Alternate Stories & Timelines
I'm gonna have to agree and disagree with points here. My main point wasn't the exact people who find him popular, but his general portrayal as a huge womanizing chad who makes everyone fall for him, is largely not present in the original game, but due to things like the anime wanting to capitalize on the fanservice, lead to Yu's character being flanderized beyond his original portrayal. Take the King's Game scene in the anime. In the game, he's regrettable, and picks one at random, but in the anime he unbutton's his shirt asks everyone to come get some, and then all the girls one by one sit on him, hug him and lay on his lap. This is not how the Yu Narukami of Persona 4 acts in P4 or P4G, even taking into account his funny response options.
Then there's things like everyone thinking in the anime original episode that jokes the investigation team could see Yu as a father when talking to Eri, or more general ideas about his promiscuity. These interpretations of his character, are means of viewing Yu as a player vehicle and wishing to satisfy opposing playthroughs in a single anime run time, so necessarily if they wish to cover as much of P4G as they can, especially in the short series run time, he becomes a parody of himself to satisfy the fans. Then we run into people who were introduced to Yu in the anime, and people who perpetuate this flanderized version of his character as a sort of memeified descriptor upon the fan community over years. This point with the players specifically sh*t talking Yu felt like a good time for me to reiterate that the memeified version of Yu Narukami isn't really true to form in the OG game.
Saying a canon exists in another timeline or universe without any connection to the original, without evidence is the same as saying it's noncanon to me in this context. Or at least like, the Persona 4 Anime, is non canon to the game, and vise versa, since their canon under your description, don't overlap with one another. When I say non-canon, I'm merely meaning, they do not inform the interpretation of the original work being discussed. They are non-canon bits of information to the game itself. The anime actively contradicts events, arcs, and characterization seen in the game, so it can't be trusted as a primary source to inform the game's interpretation when it adds something not originally in the game. That's not to mention none of the people who actually wrote P4 and P4g worked on the anime or most the spin off games, with exception to Hashino having a supervising role, but I actually have a detailed segment explaining how I take into account various P4 games,anime etc, outside of the game itself, so I'll wait to say more until that segment releases

In my Perspective of the P4 Animes (Both OG & P4G), though there are Moments of Fanservice (either that these are Funny or "Romantic"), it doesn't Majorly ruin Yu's Original Portrayal.
For sure, the King's Game in the Anime is Different from the Game but you do realise that in the Anime, Yu is drunk due to the Atmosphere however this doesn't exactly ruin OG Portrayal rather it shows albeit a more Human Side that even someone as Stoic or Normal as Yu, even he (or anyone) has Awkward or Vulnerable moments, which in this Case, being "Drunk".
Also you must remember that all the Girls (except Naoto who we all know wasn't a Party Member yet) sitting on his Lap is basically a Reference to the Options presented in Game when Yu (or you) choose 1 of the 3 Girls. For sure, they are Different but the Result is (kind of) the Same which in both Cases, are still Fan Service.
Again, for me, though there are Certain Differences between Yu in Game & Yu in Adaptations, there are Certain Similarities that in the End, it's still Yu Narukami.
I don't believe Yu in the Anime became a Parody of Himself, rather it's Yu being in Awkward or Funny Situations which is Not too Different from what happened in Game.
For sure, both P4 Animes have a more Comedic Side & other Aspects that aren't in Game, however Anime Yu still shows more of His Care, Maturity, Kindness, Sense of Responsibility & Imperfections similar to that are in the Game, just that these Traits within Yu are sometimes thrusted in more Funny or Awkward Scenarios.
So again, is Yu in the Anime a Parody of Himself?
I don't really think so, especially taking in Consideration of Some Similar & Different Moments that both Game & Anime had to offer in which for me, are somewhat the same Level of Content of being Funny or Serious.
This aside, is the Anime (along other Adaptations) Canon?
For me, it's a Yes.
Why?
Well like I said, The Persona Series like any Megaten Series, is not New to Concept Alternate Timelines or Universes.
Examples of these are seen & mentioned in the P2 (Where Tatsuya from the 1st Game travelled to a Alternate Timeline where he would need save the World due to his "Selfish Actions" & due to Possibility of its Destruction) & P3 (With the Introduction of Kotone(FeMC) which then was proven further in PQ2). & if I remember correctly, Marie in P4G & in PQ Games mentions that there are Multiple Yous (in this case, she is talking to the Protags).
& the Concept of what is Canon in this of Game/Anime/Manga is no Different to any Series in General.
Examples of Comics/Mangas & Western Animation/Anime both being Canon are very Big Series like Marvel, DC Comics, Transformers, Mortal Kombat, Dragon Ball, Fate, Tsukihime & many more...
Another thing, does the P4 Anime (any other of it's of P4's Adaptations & its Sequel Adaptations) contradict the Game?
No.
For sure, there are Differences however for Me the Major Points like Story, Characterisations & Theme & Lesson haven't changed.
The OG Animation to me has Sufficiency as a Good Interpretation to P4.
Though for me, there were some in the P4G Animation that I think effected Character & Story (Ex. of this is with Naoto in Christmas Eve & the Final Battle against Izanami).
So the Major Questions are, is the Anime Adaptation a Good Source to know P4?
Depends.
For me, it had been my 2nd means in getting in the Persona Series (My 1st Introduction to P4 was through Blazblue Cross Tag Battle or BBTag for Short). Later on, I played & watched the Game & its Spinoffs.
For Sure, the P4 Anime as a Primary Source to know the Series has its Ups & Downs but nevertheless, I believe it to also be a Good Source. It all depends on the Person if he or she is Interested to know more of the Series.

Memes are Funny however they are merely Jokes, Not Factual Information. Meme too much, the Interpretation of the Story & Characters drastically change & later on, creates a Poor Influential Idea about the Story & Characters that is then shared to the Audience, especially to Newcomers to the Series.
@@persona4ever447 In few words: P4 Animation Yu is the one that you play if you choose the funny/troll answers. Almost all the dialogue in the anime is already in the game only that is up to you what to choose. For Persona games I see the MCs as a whole in their different appaerances.

When I played this, I really hoped that we're finally get a gay character in persona as gay people who come out later in life often have similar experiences. Doubting oneself when not feeling any attraction with the opposite sex (as what society dictates for young people at that age). However, I also loved the actual story behind daisuke. It subverts the expectations among young straight men with regards to courting, attraction and dealing with their feelings. there was no disappointment. Maybe in the future, persona will get a gay character with a complex treatment.

He can't simply tell a girl no because she will think it has something to do with her when in reality he has his own personal reasons for rejecting them.
