Mozart K.198 Möckel - Cencic

- Steven Möckel was probably the last real good soloist of genuine own production by Wiener Sängerknaben. Here in a wonderful recording from late Summer 1990 with the "imported" Cencic. The piece is Mozart K.198 ´Sub Tuum Praesidium´. This recording used to be on YTube originally with the two boys singing live - but has been taken away and been illustrated.... 1) here with two other alike-looking boys lip-synkingj .... and 2) on another YT video with photos, uploaded by an ignorant American, (sign. sfkcbf), who doesn´t know a thing about how the original small Cencic looked or how he sang - as we do, we who saw and heard him when he was still an under 14 yo.
As a huge fan of vienna boys choir i used to have a laser disc with this piece on. i listen to this piece until i memorized the whole melody. Now it feels as if i became a little girl again. sucha beautiful moment wirh music really keeps me going despite all the hardship. As pianist Yoonchan Lim said , music is one of the rare kinds that is left truly genuine this world! Cant agree more. thanks for this invaluable , timeless piece!!!!
One of my favourite prayers: We fly to thy patronage, O holy Mother of God; despise not, our petitions in our necessities but graciously hear and answer them, O ever glorious and blessed Virgin. ( A prayer said at school before every class and before a sports match.)
How lovely that they have the Blessed Sacrament on the altar behind. All for Him.
ZANIEMOWILAM Z WRAZENIA..........!!!!!!!!!!JESTEM PELNA PODZIWU........TYLE TALENTU W TAK KRUCHYCH CHLOPCACH.POWODZENIA.NIE ZMARNOWAL PAN TALENTU PANIE CENCIC.......!!!!!!!!
I do think you are on to something as I'm pretty it's lip sync to max and another but I'm sure max allowed for it why? We may never know.
As an ex-choir boy, I think it is a shame that the vast majority of boys never properly experience the joy of using their boy voices. The boys' voice has a quality all of its own. It is only possible to use its full potential for a very short time.
Very true! Not only the best soloists but whole choirs will well-trained boys have a both clear, crisp and soft "round" voice, which female voices never can reach. I got a new evidence on this just today, when - after having heard a row of "Messiah" recordings lately - I ran into McCreesh's 2017 Gstaad performance with Tölzer Knabenchor as only choir: ua-cam.com/video/nHMECvSSB2Y/v-deo.html. A masterly warm but also intense singing in whatever from pianissimo to forte. fast or slow, .
Danke für die eindrucksvolle, einfühlsam musizierte Aufführung
Nur singt hier nicht Max Emanuel Cencic.
Most beautiful and sublime. It surprises me that they are singing with their backs to the sacred host in the monstrance. This is new to me. These boys have memories to take them into adulthood.
As far as I understood the original upload of this piece (it's not mine I just copied it), it's no existing photo
but an arrangement by "Friends of Wiener Sängerknaben" by 2 different photos, - one with the singers at one occasoon, the other of the of the room another time. Print and photo qualities between the two parts are clear visible with veryclose studying of the piece. - Regardless of these or other circumstances the only real important thing is that this wonderful boy duett has been saved, don´t you think?!
@@52sport6469 Yes, I do think so.
These are the most angelic voices that I've ever heard. The harmony is simply beautiful, almost otherworldly.
What a beautiful performance. I can't stop listening to them. The orchestra is also outstanding.
Merci , c'est Merveilleux… Bravo !!!
They are magnificent, the quintessence of Treble Voices.
This is beautiful.
Mozart plus voices like these. WOW!
This recording remains in my collection of most favourites! Sublime.
Yes, the combination of Mozart' s genius, The famous Vienna Orchestra and The two wonderful boys voices makes it into a stunning performance.
Gostei. Frases e harmona interessantes.
Sub Tuum Praesidium
Bonito demais. Parabéns. Obrigado. SÃO PAULO - BRASIL.
Thank you, Brasilian friend!
@@52sport6469 I thank you for sharing this wonderful video. Everything is very beautiful, from the stage, the children, the orchestra and this amazing soprano. I think his name must be Elias. If possible, tell me the name of this choir, orchestra and soprano. Thank you my friend. SÃO PAULO BRAZIL.
I was wrong, the choir is not in this video, but in another one I watched. Then I ask ok? Tell me the names of the two boys, as I already know that it is not Elias (German soprano) and the name of the orchestra. Thank you my friend.
Alegra-me sobretudo encontrar meus compatriotas , pois tal fato demonstra que estamos bem no quesito do bom gosto cultural .
Sublime !
Oui, totalment vrai
So schön
Stunningly beautiful.
These two prove there is a heaven!!!!
Georg Stangelberger is the authority here (a voice from inside Augarten!)
3 weeks ago he wrote:
"Irrtum, das sind Michael Rausch and Jörg Mugrauer aber der Ton ist Cencic und Möckl... "
which means the two boys in the video are not the same as the two who recorded the piece.
I'm glad Georg Stangelberger added his knowledge to the remarks on this video to end the confusion of who was who. Michael Rausch and Jörg Mugrauer are pictured in video, but Max Emanuel Cencic and Steven Möckel are the singers.
Herr Stangelberger löschte seine Kommentare wieder. Weshalb eigentlich ?
If names matter..
Cencic...
@@birjanka Read what I stated above. "Michael Rausch and Jörg Mugrauer are pictured in video, but Max Emanuel Cencic and Steven Möckel are the singers." Max Emanuel Cencic and Steven Möckel are not pictured.
Maravilloso dueto
Awesome!
Very nice
Tölzer Soloists / Patrick Prasch
I saw the video with the title above, but I couldn't comment there and I'll comment here. You don't even have to say anything. Just wonderful and too beautiful. What country are these videos from that you post on UA-cam? I signed up for channel and I will always be following Thank you friend. SÃO PAULO BRAZIL.
With the exception of the above video with Cencic/Möckel (from Vienna, Austria) all my other 10 videos are with boys from Tölzer Knabenchor in Munich. Germany - sure the world's best boy choir.
@@52sport6469 Thanks for listening.
This coral is really wonderful. Germany is a reference in classical music. He has a 14 year old German soprano, his name is Elias Madle and he has a beautiful voice. Thank you friend. SÃO PAULO BRAZIL
The second soloist has a richness that offsets the leading soprano - two superb soloists.
A correct observation by a voice expert! - And it exactly underlines the fact that he really IS Cencic. Nobody else at that time - hardly at any time - could match Max-Emanuel before his first voice change some weeks efter this recording.
I fully agree
Amazing🙏🏻💖
I always return here. Himmlisch. The "imported Celcic" is of course rather excellent, and both boys are truly wonderful! Godly! And it's funny, how experts always up the ante "in favor" of one rather than the other. As if it was necessary.
Yes, there are always people, who can´t enjoy even the best perfornances simply as these are, but "must" criticise, rank or compare various details. - Anyhow it´s a wonder that this delightful piece survived at all - a fraction from being lost for ever, when I found it.
The visual quality is getting worse by the minute though the audio is always equally superb.
The conductor (or anyhone responsible for the scenery) has on this recording created some unecessary uncertainty by placing the soloists reversed against what is normal, whch for us viewers means that the higher voiced being seen and heard to the right and the lower to the left. The one who STARTS singing in this work is in fact the SECOND (lower voiced) soprano - in this case Möckel - while the 1st soprano comes in later doing a higher voiced and more advanced singing - without any doubt the fabulous Cencic. - An expert listener, Michael Grieve, also further down here establishes that the richness of his voice offsets the other one. (Cencic is one of the 3-.4 all-time greatest boy sopranos, far above Möckel.) .
Yes, it´s definitely Max Emanuel to the right. I think he sometimes changed his looks even as a young boy, blond hair or darker hair. In this recording with glasses. But if you watch a very early recording
ua-cam.com/video/nCbg3k_GlQU/v-deo.html
he basically looks the same as in this recording, but without glasses.
Edit: Sorry, in the link (ISML) there are 2 scores, soprano + tenor and also for 2 sopranos. Soprano 1 (left, Steven Möckel) starts. Soprano 2 (Max to the right) comes in later.
Holy Mother!
This recording is not from 1992, it's from 1990 (according to the DVD). The DVD contains the Waisenhausmesse which was recorded in 1988 (with Cencic as the soloist) and the other Mozart pieces (including this one) which were recorded in 1990.
Yes, you are right - this piece was recorded in late August of 1990. Sorry for first having made a writing mistake, but I have changed it now. .
The original 1990 filmed TV production is since long gone. But Amazon re-released it on a DVD in 2006 titled "Vienna Boys Choir, Mozart", which still might be on sale.
Alan Davies. - Nice to hear that!
very nice...but we all know it's not Max
Wundebar 👏 👏 👏
The Teen boy with the Brown hair on the Left of the Video has the MOST OUTSTANDING VOICE.
What's your agenda?
Is that the Host in the monstrance behind them? How appropriate!
What town do the two boys come from or country, beautiful are they still singing. Please reply.
Steven Möckel to the left was born in Austria, Max Emanuel Cencic in Croatia. They were singing this in the Wiener Sängerknaben Choir (Vienna) in 1990. Möckel is since long a famous violinist and Cencic a dito counter tenor.
The music is universally.. With. Peace. Very beautiful...the coral.and sopranos

If God does not hear these celestial voices, then He must be deaf.

I often comment on videos of high male singing voices, but I am twenty-nine-years-old. I am/was an infant in 1990, and was/am from the United States. My days as a boy soprano are/were spent in the General Southern Baptist church of my parents, as well as public school. No recordings survived--even in my own head--but some people on You Tube said I sounded like treble Max Cencic as an amateur sopranist. Unfortunately, I lost the "gift" several years ago due to longstanding health problems. My range and tessitura got spared!
Why was this performance lipsinked?!!!
The original recording got lost, but some WSK people thought the singing by Cencic and Möckel was so extraordinairy beautiful, that they decided to use a still existing sound track for a new video with alike-looking boys (Cencic and Möckel were now too old). - See also notes under "maestrovoci" commment further down here.
Ninguno de ellos es Max emanuel Cencic. No one was Cencic.
10000000000000% correct Geen van hen is Max Emanuel Cencic. Niemand was Cencic.
Neither boy is Max!!!
you two sing well together - tony and peter from almost angels...ha
Hasta que no veo nh3grh0$$ o xhyn0$$$😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫
Although in my old age I turn agnostic a little bit more everyday, I can't help thinking that such beauty cannot just be the result of hazard and necessity. If you seat a chimp behind a typewriter there is no probability whatsoever that it will type someday the complete works of William Shakespear and yet it is what some atheist scientists are thinking.
The story of the monkey and a typewriter isn't about creativity, but about chance. You don't have to be religious or atheistical to believe in chance
There is only one Beautiful One, all beauty we encounter in this life, is pointing to Him.
The claim is if they were given enough time. How much time is enough time? Will the cosmos last long enough?. Will there always be typewriters and if it comes to that will there always be apes? Those who declare there is no God and those who declare there is, think I am wrong when I say. I'll waaaaaait and see.
How can I be wrong? Meanwhile I'll let both sides live in peace.
Quite right. It's the same nonsense that says chimps = humans. So much for bullshit.
The young soprano on the left seems to have appeared like a shooting star as he is is to be seen nowhere else and has completely vanished.
No he hasn't vanished in the music world at all! Steven Möckel already during his career as a boy soprano in Vienna was studying violine earnestly, and after voice-break and when his parents moved to New York, he soon became a shooting star on violine instead., Since many years he is a high ranked violine master and conductor in Phoenix, Arizona, and in US generally.
@@52sport6469 And now in 2021, Thankfully for us in New Mexico, he is the concertmaster of the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra.
@@marcojimenez595 - Thanks, nice to know!
The rating disabled. Why ?
I don´t know, I haven´t made it. UA-cam is continuosley changing their handling of things like this one and others.
Dann guck´ doch mal in den Bearbeitungsmodus...:)))
If you compare this video with the recording in the CD "Ezsulate Jublate" you will find then to be the same. Also neither of the two boys are Cencic. I have seen *lip sinking" in other WSK videos.
