I did not know this either. Very useful to know. Especially if you attempt to go faster to someplace by Harpooning a Megalodon. This would especially be so if you're trying to escape from a Kraken and a Megalodon spawns on you.
3:18 I'd add that fireballs are perfect to deny control of the anchor and the steering wheel + a lot of monitinors have a crosshair feature which makes aiming cannons and harpoons so much easier

Kegs are high risk high reward options. They saved us many times because we stacked them up and had multiply tries to sneak on board while being chased across the sea. Storing them on your crowsnest isnt so damaging either, sure your mast falls down but you can repair and there is only some fire on the deck. BUT if someone knows what they are doing and board you they can use the kegs against you, so kegs are more a tool for a surprise attack or a last effort option when the enemy has outnumbered you but i would never say, dont use them ever.

Fire bombs could be useful for applying pressure tho, becuase they create sort of no-go zones for the enemy players and could force them to backsplash or pause bailing to extinguish the fire.
@@TheEmeraldPixel Definitely. Thats self defense. But spawncamping as a game mechanic is terrible. That's the developers fault 100%. I'm not sure if it exists but spawn immunity should be a thing (~1-2 seconds after spawning). Not too long so that you cant just spawn, jump on their ship and be invincible, but just long enough so you can get a hold of your surroundings and kill whoever is spawncamping you.
I agree, Neo. People can do it, but it is still spineless action to me. Not being able to defend hours of your own time and hard effort is the opposite of fun. Even more so when the enemy crew themselves are glad to destroy your efforts, or even keep your ship afloat to kill you over and over while you try your best to salvage your work. And the best is when a bug within the game makes it impossible to fight back.
In literally any other game I'd agree. However in this game respawning is pretty short and has no penalties making respawning players super dangerous in PVP. If you sit there, let them respawn, and leave them be you basically made your boarding operation pointless as the time you spent doing it is negated by the enemy simply respawning and returning fire. Overall I'd say this is a problem with the game's design, but currently spawn camping is an unfortunate but common part of PVP.
Great video, I’ve been playing this game on and off since launch but I had no idea about that harpoon locking or taking down enemy sails with a chain shot from their own cannons
I’m so happy I bought this game yesterday I’m so pumped to play it looks amazing. A lot to learn tho I’m guna suck for a while especially since I’m a solo
Another thing is that (especially in arena where you only have a few chainshots) is that if you’re trying to knock the mast down (especially on sloops where there’s only 1) aim for the crows nest
I love when some UA-camrs are advising you aim for a particular part of the enemy boat where as I'm lucky if my canon balls end up in the same post code as the enemy.
I like to shoot a fire flask at the cannons and attempting to board, it gives a few seconds unless they are already taking on water. edit:this taking on water thing does not apply to a galleon with water in its bottom deck.
I learned to use my harpoon on the rear side of their ship and I got a ton of hits on their ship, unless they shoot you it's an amazing strat to sink them
you can actually use fire bombs to create panic or like he said, blow up any kegs on board. but when i mean create panic, i mean to make the opposing crew focus on putting out the fire instead of shooting, steering, or repairing.
If you want to calculate the shot when shooting your self to learn the arc of shooting yourself use a chainshot they are roughly the same weight so pretty much identical arc .thats how i practiced in the early days .
You just need a friend to get on board with a keg, get that keg on the crow's nest, and fire bomb. The mast will be downed instantly. You can also put interactables all over their anchor to make it harder for them to flee.
Putting your sail into the wind, yeah, that does not make sense, but knowing that would have saved me from the reapers. I tried to catch the wind. Thanks for the tips.
Another good tool for getting players off your ship (especially in the crows nest) is the blunderbomb. My friend went up there and threw one, and nocked the guy right off and we were able to escape!
I want to be honest I was top 3000 reapers and if I see anyone they are stopping or not on board so you don´t have to do so much just get the sails and it is all fine but it is a great video
I just started and on my second mission, a gallion destroyed my poor sloop. So I was stranded on the island. I was lucky enough to have a friendly sailor come around and teach me some stuff.
You can pick up a dropped barrel and defuse it immediately so using a barrel to blow up a ship must be a no return mission that shouldn’t be done solo cause you leave your ship empty so sometime. The barrel problem of you hit the barrel i carry and it blows up in your ship or i blow it up in my hands no defusing it. Dropping a barrel underneath a passing ship thats chasing you does so much damage and makes them change directions just got to underwater enough that you arent seen easily. The only time I’ve ever had a problem with my own barrels even on or in the ship instead of the crows nest was when i was fighting an ashen lord and even then it only took out the mast that wasn’t being used.
@@harrybartlett197 no not because he is better he legit is just a d*ck in this game i play for fun and even help people out but this guy is just sweating constandly lol
dont aim for the same place on their ship. it won't necessarily make more holes if you've maxed out the holes in the front for example. all it does then is making it harder to repair. if you shoot all over they need to run around. and while they repair, you might make 2 more holes. when I hit them in the front, I aim for the back. now they might have multiple holes in the front and multiple holes in the back. their repair guy has to run all over the ship between holes which opens them up to take in too much water than they can possibly handle. works well on skeletal to
Something I do with firebombs is when I mean to board I will stock up, and once on drop and fire their anchor, and since they have holes already and fire is now everywhere they aren’t thinking rationally to go out out the capstain their just running
amazing video and im not nearly as experienced as you but i still feel you didnt do fire bombs justice as i find those are extremely helpful at taking down a ship solo, while they do almost no hull damage they drop masts and disable anchoring and steering like a mf as well as the afore mentioned chaos created by them

Great tips, however you lost me a spawn camping. I get it's how it works and it's easy but the ability to repair someone else's ship just to spawn camp and kill them is disgusting. At least change what you can do to other players ships. Dropping anchor, steering, cannons and sails are fine but being able to keeps someone's ship from sinking just to trap them is cheap imo. I know you can scuttle and be done.

If you lose the fight, you better have a way to get out of the situation or lose the ship.
I don't use chain shot because it always leads to me losing a mast I'm always at 50 ping and occasionally a cannonball or a chainsaw will fly right back at me when I've just gotten 16 ft away from a ship glad I can't fire at me and then all of a sudden fire bomb to the face it gets annoying but it doesn't happen often but that's just my reason I don't use chain shot because my shot can also fly back at me I've actually found that if you hit a player occasionally that player will be chained up and if you're extremely lucky and then next to the sale it'll take three players to unchain them
Chicken little things that can actually happen in fact it's actually happened in real life if you don't want to deal with the crew tie them up that's my logic
I'd say firebombs are good after you've done a ton of consistent damage. Just to add on to the things they need to focus on. Skilled players can usually handle it, but not the others.
I think firebombs are good because it keeps the players distracted so i can move my ship to the other side to buy me some time to repair and then i’d open fire
