  • My followers requested a real time delay on the level crossing, so here you go, sit back and relax, and wait… 😂
    But don’t snooze, otherwise you’ll miss the Class 47 with mixed Bauxite freight from Exeter!

    "Realistic timing" ive never had to wait that long at a level crossing before, 2 minutes tops, usually!

      @dolomitefan 8 місяців тому +3

      You've obviously never sat at the ones near me then. They go on for ages. I'd like to see the time down to fractions of a second as it's very annoying having to wait for a train, especially if it's literally one carriage. It doesn't need to be 3 or 4 mins.

      @@dolomitefan I was beginning to lose the will to live, until I heard the horns of the approaching train.
      I bet that one was running late, leaves on the line perhaps!

      How long is a piece of string? Or how long is a wait at a level crossing?! 😂 well my followers wanted a realistic waiting time, so they got one 😂👍🏻

    Real world level crossings have very strict rules on there operation and how the signal timings are required to be followed. As this model appears to be operating to the real world timings then the operation would seem to be lengthy. As this is a scale model ie 1/76 (00 gauge) then the real world timings should be scaled down accordingly. But the modelling and detail is outstanding, well done. Must show it again when completed.😊

    • @WickfieldLaneJunction
      @WickfieldLaneJunction  8 місяців тому +2

      From previous comments it seems the wait could be anything from 25 seconds to 5 mins, depending on the speed of the train etc. It is over dramatised as followers asked for realistic timing. Hopefully over time I will add more detail and signage to the scene which is still a WIP 👍🏻

    • @BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne
      @BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne 8 місяців тому +3

      The times would be no different irrespective of scale. For example, if it takes a locomotive 4 seconds to travel its own length at 15mph then whatever the scale of the loco it will always take 4 seconds to travel its own length if it is doing 15mph.

      It’s made by Display models, search for BR Type 19 signal box, it’s slightly cheaper direct on the website but it’s also on eBay

    Great project but this took way to long to get to the point AND!!!! there should of been a demonstration of the trains approaching from all the tracks. Positive points this is the first angled crossing I have seen and there is great working potential with the sidings so close to the crossing.

    As an ex railway man I was surprised to see signalbox windows obscured by what appear to be notices. Windows should be unobstructed at all times. Nice foundations though for promising scene.

    • @WickfieldLaneJunction
      @WickfieldLaneJunction  8 місяців тому

      Someone needs to have a word with Gainsborough Trent junction then as it was modelled on that signal box, outside and internal footage shows the centre windows covered in paperwork and notices, also blocking the view in the centre window is a tall computer cabinet housing the ‘Trust Reporting System’.

      I must admit It does look a little bit messy inside but I did study the internal video that someone did on FARSAP videos. I do like trying to model real life mess and clutter to give it some realism. Hopefully you can watch this scene progress but any input would be great as I’m not in the railway industry.

      @@WickfieldLaneJunction Thank you for the invite. I left railway service in 98, so my experience all predates that. I was at school in the 60s during the transition from steam to diesel, but lived near the old GWR route between Birmingham Snow Hill and Leamington Spa. Kings and Castles were at their end of reign, and the Blue Pullman became famous. Black fives and 9fs lingered while 45s 37s and 47s inserted themselves into everyday. The line went MAS in 69 with introduction of Saltley PSB. Our local level crossing was converted to a full barrier crossing with signal keeper at the same time.

    That is very well done!!!!
    How did you get the gates to go down ? Is it manually done or sensors when a train is coming

    • @WickfieldLaneJunction
      @WickfieldLaneJunction  Місяць тому

      They are DCC controlled manually by lever or via the control panel
