- President Joe Biden claimed Wednesday that his uncle Ambrose Finnegan's remains were not recovered during World War II because of cannibals.
"They never found the body because there used to be a lot of cannibals - for real - in that part of the New Guinea," Biden said.
There is documented evidence of cannibalism in New Guinea during the 20th century, but Biden's retelling differs from official reports.

I remember this story; my dad was in boot camp with old Boze. After boot camp everybody just became soldiers except old Boze, he became an Army Air Corps, you know, like before the air force came along. In 1920 old Boze wrote the Army Reorganization Act which created the Army Air Service. After 1926 it became the Army Air Corps, of course it was just Boze then. It was all over the newspapers when old Boze got shot down in 1926 because we lost the whole Army Air Corps in one day.
See he was flying low surveilling over one of them war zones and took a spear right to the oil pan. Then he crashed landed smack in the middle of a tribe of hostile cannibals and it was straight in the stew pot for old Boze, true story. Not only that, old Boze was so tough and nasty it took the tribe a week to cook him down. When they finally ate him, they all got sick and died of the drizzling shits and we won the war.
this is completely unrealistic. apparently his family told these stories to him. however since he didn't serve in any part of the military, he can't talk about his own experience. apparently four people were in the plane that went down into the ocean. one got out and swam until a passing barge picked him up. That is how the military knew what happened. There were no hand held cameras back then to show what happened there. these primitive people would have had to go to the crash site in the ocean, dredge up the plane, then get all these people out. then eat them after that. how realistic would that be. it would be easy to just go fishing instead, which is likely what they would eat back then. That was the primary food source. It was a fishing society. even the united states didn't have scuba equipment like they have today. you could basically go down the ocean and back up. there was no technology like we have today, to even go a few feet into the ocean in scuba gear which these primitive people wouldn't have had anyway.
