This very Moment when Vadic hears Datas voice and immediatly knows she's screwded. She must have recognized his voice from her work at Daystrom-Institute.
"Greetings, USS Titan! This is your friendly, positronic, pi$$ed off security system back online. All unwanted guests and protoplasms are about to undergo an immediate shape change!" One of the best lines from Data/Brent Spiner in this episode! Reminiscent of when the Enterprise D was about to crash in Generations. :) I think Spiner was having a time of his life in this episode!
Notice her hand broke off cleanly, which means it'll probably float around for a while, latch on to something warm and thaw out into a future trek villain.
Not really how these changelings work. Their genetic modifications make them more susceptible to damage that would be fatal to the species they're replicating. So yeah, after being shattered into a billion pieces I can say with absolute certainty that she is dead.
@@MostlyPennyCat it's an evacuation hatch, if the ship is in danger, bridge crew can throw on some spacesuits stored nearby and evacuate from the bridge once everyone else has left via transporter / shuttle. At least that's what makes sense to me, it's not the best escape route but if everything else is cut off then it's good to have
How do they not even get their hair mussed if the bridge is in vaccuum when Jack's protective field is turned off? Why no air flow or pressure changes?
Small problem though, didn't the DS9 episode with Laas, (The one where he "scares" everyone by being fog) show us that Changelings can survive in the vacuum and cold of space? Or did Laas have to be transformed into a being that can survive in space? How does that work?
I imagine that they have to be in a specific form to survive the vacuum of space. And we know it takes a great deal of practice to learn more exotic shapes, or even seemingly normal ones like humans, so it’s possible this one just didn’t know how to. Also like the other guy said they were experimented on. So it could also be a side effect.
They get locked into shape more maybe it's something to do with that. We don't really know how they ended up at daystrum in the first place probably captured. Which likely means the experiments made them unable to cope in space. Odo learnt how to do it just off lass. Tho the other changeling likely taught him stuff as well.
While the new Android went by Data, I think it could be argued it's an entirely new being as well as Data. Or more accurately, Lore, B-3, and Data were all parts that were not whole as individuals. And the Data we see in this series is the complete and final being.

I tell ya, I don’t know if it was the writing, director or just Jerri Ryan but her delivery in this clip was just BAD! From the cheesy “get off my bridge” to yelling “FIRE”, honestly made me want to smack her. No good captain yells like that when there is literally zero background noise to be heard over and the idea that they waited for her to give a one liner before they opened the idiotic “evacuation doors” is just so horribly ridiculous. I absolutely LOVED this season of Picard when it came out , save a few glaring issues like a retro design Titan-A the retirement of the Big E-F, the killing of a hated/loved Captain, and the renaming of the Titan to name a few, but the more I rewatch it the more things I find to really dislike.
I've been rewatching TNG lately, clips and full episodes and then I watch...this and this is just...trash it feels more like a cowboy version of start trek that heard a story about TNG and was like: let me tell you how it went down kid, first off there was cussing! lots of it MMMHMMM and big old explosions ALL the time and death? every other second something or someone was dying I tell you what that's the star trek I remember. TNG > light years beyond this shit.
If you just watched this one clip and nothing else from Season 3 - yes. But season 3 as a whole is solid. It mixes ToS and TNG very well as far as plot and action. This is coming from someone who has watched TNG from the beginning and loved it.
This the second poorest episode in the season 3. The poorest is the ep.7. Before that, it was good. Just the one who wrote these two episodes is an idiot.
It was revealed last episode that these changelings were altered by Section 31 to be perfect assassins by accurately reproducing biology to fool scanners not only did it come with a shorter lifespan but it leaves them vulnerable when they are in a solid form. For example Vadic breathes and smokes something Odo said he couldn't do because his body doesn't have traditional organs, he mentions he doesn't taste or smell and he doesn't eat has he has no digestive system.
If you actually pay attention after they disable them by stabbing them (which probably causes them to enter a healing state) they disintegrate them with the phasers.
This episode just like the last one. It is extremely non-sense. The mad lady who took all the advantages in the last episode suddenly. In this episode, she lost everything and even exploded in a minutes of show suddenly. Only moron could write up this kind of non-sense story. The story was good from ep.1 to ep.6 while the mad lady was laughing to threaten Picard was really good on her acting skill. That was the funniest part and the only valuable part of the show. That is always all about how she expressed her madness in threatening people. I think they should really to fire the moron who wrote these two episodes. They really ruined the story development. When the mad lady didn't laugh while threatening to other people would result in dying and kicking out of the show. What's the point of all that? Without her threatening acting skill. The show is nothing. It is now a junk film.

@DG_Teg I think this season was it for the TNG crew. They finally got the propper send-off they deserved.
I love how Shaw, completely beaten, was still able to do a pad on Jack's back like "Nice, work kiddo."
... "monologuing protoplasms"... made me lol. ^^
Data sarcasms - brilliant writing, brilliant comedy by Spiner.
Capt. Shaw was played by a great actor.

Not likely. She as an entity is gone. The one has become the many, and has been fully engulfed by an exploding ship
Data : "Say less, fam. I got this."
I know this isn't Trek first F bomb. But to me it feels like the first one that really works.

Why not keep the shrike?
That ship is too dangerous to exist.
I thought the same
Destroying the shrike was a mistake. There were more mysteries inside, more to discover.
