  • Many of those who attain the highest level of Paradise are “ordinary” people with extraordinary character. The truthful merchant, the patient parent, etc. all find themselves in an elite category should they emulate 2 prominent qualities of the Prophet ﷺ that he was most known by.
Khutbah delivered in Masjid Fouad Lababidi in Abuja, Nigeria

This lecture is especially important in these times of social media. Nowadays everyone is trying to be seen and have a huge following, and sometimes you can feel small, neglected and not worthy for not having that. The people with the following get all the prayers, concerns and support. It is good to know that even an ordinary, apparently unseen person can have the highest rank in the sight of Allah.

In my case, I often wondered if I am living a life at all. Just sorta 'floating' through a monotonous and mediocre existence. But, Alhamdulillah as always its always a humbling and inspirational experience when I listen to Yaqeen's lectures. Slow and steady.

Subhanallah, alhamdelliah, mashallah, i'm a convert of almost 4 years now. This is my problem i am suffering with, i was feeling like allah doesn't love me because I dreamed to be a scholar, not one on tv or youtube or social media but one for my communities. and my situation i am not capable to learn anything in a school. I can't even find my way to buy something from a store by myself. So i felt there was no way i could be a neighbor of the prophet when i don't have a life similar to his loved ones, or the ability to fulfill certain hadiths of good deeds. But patience and good character is always in our control, and if jannah is for ones of faith and good character inshallah allah will make it easy for me, and for any muslim who has a goal like me, and may be neighbors to the prophet in jannah, and be of the most special honored and most loved people of allah

How did Sh. Omar Suleiman know that I was feeling low for living a very ordinary life, just living live surviving? SubhanAllah, the message is very apt for me. Definitely a message from Allah to me. I think it's also a result of listening to so many motivational speakers and reading books that tell us to leave a legacy, to aim for the stars, to be super productive, go after dreams, etc. While they have values in their own rights, but as someone whose circumstances hinder me from going after my dreams, and looking at other people who grew up with me are now reaching the stars... I couldn't help but feel small. Alhamdulillah, jazakAllah for covering this topic. I shall live an ordinary life and strive to have an extraordinary character and people of imaan. Things that I'm also struggling to be.

Bless you profoundly Sheikh Omar, for choosing this topic. I had been feeling terribly restless and isolated, like a failure despite family and friends telling me I should be grateful for all that I have. I listened to your khutbah and my pain subsided

Alhamdulillah for an ordinary life. Although the list of difficulties is getting longer, and really overwhelming, but at least I'm safe and not dealing with dysfunctional, toxic people.
