Yeh having two vehicles has saved me several times. Several years ago, I wrote my work vehicle off ....... but I was on the road working the following morning.
Those super locks were on the three boxes with the welding stuff. The “silly shit”, wrenches and pliers gets a standard lock😂😂. Your a welder not a mechanic!! 🤪. Meltin Metal you are da man!! Great vid!
shes a beaut! im getting my trans fixed in my cummins this month so hopefully i can get it back on the road and start getting back into mobile work again
I just got two new evolution chop saws ones the blue 14” metal saw and the other is the multi material 10” dual bevel sliding miter saw. Got both for $200 bucks brand new open boxes! I may sell the slide miter they are normally 350-400 new.
Wicked video loved the truck tour excellent set up I would love a truck like so cool. Can’t wait for the tour of the new truck.keep the great videos coming 👍👍
Yo, I just got accepted into Welding school yesterday February 2nd 2022. Ive been wanting to weld for a few years from a little experience on the pipeline and rig experience. I’ve watched videos for years with some experience welding. I’m planning on trying to be top of my class wish me luck. My the end of 2022 I’ll be a welder.
Cut a small notch in the lid and remove and weld the metal tab onto the inside so it comes up and through the lid making it so they can’t cut it off like u said if they want to get into it they will !!
Hey Ant! Just wanted to share something about acetylene bottles, we were taught in welding school to never ever put them on their sides because the result may be formation of an acetylene "pocket" that is subject to polymerization and the possibility that liquid acetone will be released into the regulator. I had to go on google and copy and paste some of that because I'm not an expert 😂 Best of luck to you bud!!
Actually that may not work for me. My lid is going to be pretty damn heavy. It’s 50”x20” 1/8” thick steel. I don’t know if a flexible spring would be able to do that
ya gota remember, regardless of the trade you are in, your truck or van is a reference and an example of how you work. It des not need o be new it does not need to be pretty ..or super tidy. But is clearly shows what sort of workman ( ladies include yourselves) you are. If I was interviewing a new welder, I'd be saying show me your truck.
Yep, absolutely true. Acetylene is a dissolved gas, it's extremely dangerous to use the bottle laying down. It also takes several minutes for the acetone to redissolve. In Australia, we're not even allowed to transport acetylene any way but outside and upright.
Let me say, that is 100% true but being in the industry I’ve seen them being hauled on trucks all different ways getting shaken up and guys use them right away. Never saw an issue. Obviously not saying it can’t happen but just telling my experience
Hopefully I get a rig like that one day, just picked up a ‘99 Ford F-150 with a utility box, only $3500 with 80k miles on it, I need to patch the metal bed, but other then that, I’m thinking of putting a small generator on the back for mobile jobs and some small welders on the side idk yet, I’m slowly building it up lol
Great stuff dude! FYI as long as your new rig is under 26,000 lbs you will not need a CDL. If it has air brakes that is a different story. Been to Space Camp Lately? HA!
Excellent video!! I was up at Ringold's scrap yard and found a truck with a flat bed. I bought the flatbed for $500 and I started mounting it to my Ranger 4x4. I am doing the SAS swap for the differentials. I have a Hobart 300 amp machine I am mounting onto the back but I ma looking for an Sa 200 or a 350 diesel like yours. How is your new truck? That thing is so awesome! That is why I am holding on to my Ranger because When I get it to where I want it I will be able to drive it anywhere out in the country.
Anthony I have a question, you said you love the SAE-350, but let's say if someone were to offer to donate a newer welder of your choice of brand, would you take it? If so, what machine would that be? Thanks for taking the time to share your stuff with us man!
I am always curios, why you Americans love your trucks that much. You could fit that setup inside a SUV or Minivan if you just remove the rearsets. Put the welder sideways on the rearseats so you can acces it by opening the rear door, the tools in the trunk, also the gasbottles or put them on the roof. Would be probably cheaper, your stuff keeps dry, way less problems with theft because they cant see that there are tools inside.
For welding vehicles a truck is more of a need than a want. If you look at his welder, it is a welder with a generator in it powering it, it’s exhaust comes off the top, so you would have all the carbon monoxide fumes inside ur vehicle. Plus whatever soot and gunk that would over time mess up ur closed up SUV or workvan. Even if one had a welder where the exhaust came out the front and could be sent out a door, it is a major pain to try crouching into vans. And also don’t believe a welder generator would have its exhaust on the front because that is also the convenient area to put the switches.
@@jasonthornberg8137 You can just drill a hole in the roof or floor and extant the exhaust with flexible tubing, they do the same thing with Onboard-Generators in RVs.
Nice video n keep up the good work. I was told before the acetylene bottle need to be set up for straight (standing up) for safety reasons? Is that true?
Perhaps there is a safety reason to mount an acetylene tank vertically but, more importantly, an acetylene tank has to be mounted vertically in order to function correctly. They’re not the same as an oxygen or welding gas cylinder.
I thought you could only run your tanks up and down. I've been seeing alot of rigs outfitted with the tanks laying down like this. Is this just for transportation and then you guys set them up right or are they ran like this? Would love your feedback. Please let me know. Because if you can get away with it like this. I just got that extra room I've been lookin for...
2 used rigs vs. 1 new setup. Even new stuff breaks. Having a second rig is better than having a spare tire. You can setup the two different rigs for different kinds of work. Fine tune your tools to the job.
My last comment I was trying to say is I love my Lincoln welder best it has not let me down there is good in both my Lincoln welder and Miller welder I just love the Lincoln old better because it has last less computers in the Lincoln welder then miller welder don't get me wrong because there both the best
You need a B CDL in Florida if your GVWR is over 26K lbs and an A CDL if you're hauling over 10K lbs. You'll need a DOT health card, so you'll need an exam from a certified doctor every two years or possibly less, showing that you have good use of your body parts and no health issues of concern. I've been a CDL holder for decades now. Know that any ticket you currently have on your driving record or you receive while a CDL holder will stay on your record usually for as long as you hold that commercial license. Know also that law enforcement can also stop you without RAS or PC for a vehicle and driver inspection any time you're operating a commercial vehicle. Oh, you'll need that truck inspected by a commercial vehicle inspector on a yearly basis as well and keep your inspection sticker on the truck's lower right corner of its windshield and paperwork as well. Get ready to spend some crazy money and time on that CDL too, bucko. New law just went into effect last week requiring many hours and thousands of dollars worth of training to get your CDL now. This was a massive change.
@@MeltinMetalAnthony Well, at least you're honest, I guess. You still need a CDL for that truck, as the law is written specifying weight *rating* and not registration. I won't bother to help with my vast knowledge in commercial logistics law again.
