I cannot understate how much I wish Wizards of Waverly Place had that Christmas special, revealing santa as a wizard with a terrible past is such a funny idea, and I am accepting it as canon to the universe even if Disney never let them reveal the truth.
Omg I think it would’ve been really good. Like Santa is a magic abuser and has been using magic to make toys and fired all the elves. Or something like that. He could’ve also stolen the identity of Saint Nick or something. Idk Honestly I think they could’ve at least had a Jack Frost special. Lol they could’ve made it after guardians of the galaxy and ride off of the hype of tumblr girls simping for the the guardians Jack. But also the Russos are a Mexican/Italian family. If ANYONE is celebrating Christmas, it’s a Mexican/Italian family since both cultures value family (and the show has expressed that their culture is very important to them) and Christmas is a time for family.
As a kid of divorce, I remember watching Zack and Cody and feeling so seen, and it showed me that kids of divorced parents could still have that same love as those of nuclear families. It meant a lot to see that kind of representation.
You're 100% right about Disney inserting more laughter into their shows. When I went to a live taping for an episode of Raven's Home, we had to laugh seemingly every 5-10 seconds. Almost every line or action was meant as a "joke." Didn't help that after the 8th time hearing a joke it was hard to give genuine sounding laughter. (Though the actors were able to adapt a bit to make things funny again) For anyone wondering the episode I saw being recorded, it was "Girls Just Wanna Have Phones"
Honestly, I just kind of avoid laugh-track shows now for this reason. At least back in the day when the original show was on - I didn't find it funny, but I could see someone finding it hilarious because the laughter sounded "genuine." and they didn't shovel them in your facehole. Girl Meets World and this tried choking down so many fake laughs it's pathetic.
It sucks cuz I’m sure the shows r just fine without the obnoxious laugh track. I know it’s there to make ppl laugh more cuz laughter is contagious, but having too much laughing makes it less enjoyable. They got no faith in their shows, and it’s unfortunate cuz less laughter is better than too much.
I’m not gonna lie I’m actually kinda looking forward to a Lab Rats video. It’s been ages since I’ve seen that show and the most distinct memory I have of it was always concentrating on the counter thing that was in their base and seeing when the numbers would show the same one
I don't know about you but i personally think Lab Rats is so underated. Whenever they rerun it on DisneyXD I watch it and I got to say I enjoy it a lot. Wish it got talked about more often.
Okay, but what happened with Jake and Miley was actually funny. This is what she gets for not listening to the magic entity that gave her the photograph.
The bit where you imagine what would happen if the Lab Rats met Santa Claus was so incredibly accurate that I screamed. And as someone who watched a ton of "Hannah Montana" as a kid, my parents would agree with you that Robbie/Billy Ray was the best part. And as for the "Jackson is 30" thing, my mom told me that when I was pretty young and it still didn't compute until I was an adult.
I always connected with Zack and Cody, I related to both of them and how they would act with things. Their family isn't near perfect but their parents still love them even if they don't love eachother.
honestly i don’t think disney has made a live action sitcom that holds up as well as zack and cody. i think it’s because there only 2 kids in the main cast & the rest are adults giving actual competent performances.
16:19 you say in your Lab Rats retrospective that Davenport being apparently gluttonous is only mentioned twice, once in Back From the Future and again in season 4, but that sounds a lot like another mention of that trait.
still, it wasn't really a prominent thing that you'd just remember or think about davenport. it's a minor detail, like, nobody would describe davenport as gluttonous bc of three mentions of him eating over four seasons
Not sure why, but I remember Jackson saying "sienna" and dressing up as colonel sanders at least as vividly (if not more) than the part with Miley beating up a guy
I remember the episode where Jackson had a super model gf,she saw Hannah Montana asked Jackson about it,got gaslit,I think Miley told her the truth or something,Lily blurted out that she was Lola and the other girl was like "Who's Lola?" and that's all I remember.
Honestly Hannah Montana has a habit of not sticking to an event/holiday theme, the crossover eps basically shoehorn cameos into eps focusing on Miley. Also man I hate what they did to Jake, they actively showed him developing from a vapid celebrity to someone more caring and selfless. Then without warning, they ruin his character, replace him with an uninteresting prettyboy that they go so far to show a kissing scene between him and Miley...that covers the kiss. If that don't scream forced I dunno what does.
I heard similar things regarding the romance in Wizards of Waverly Place. Dean was a great love interest, but they decided to go for the werewolf. They gave them both good character development, more on the werewolf boy tho, so I didn’t mind her ending up with him. But then they butchered his character and made him an ass, who literally eats Dean. Wtf
Funny thing is that isn't their first Christmas in Labrats. In one of the first episodes where they introduce Spike, Chase and Adam recall how Spike ruined a past Christmas. Could be wrong but I thought that was funny!
Something I noticed! At 18:53, you can see the lab that the 3 lab rats went to go save, is set up on the same set as their high school. I think they forgot to zoom in more on the gasma ball, revealing the school wall on the side.
Did anyone have a DVD with the four Christmas specials of Disney Channel shows like Kim possible Zack and Cody Raven and even Stevens because I saw all of these on that
@@ForeverFashionGirl21 even though I still sort of watched it during its run and wanted to watch it again but it wasn’t on Netflix and I had that DVD that’s still feel so relatable
I have a vivid memory of max and phoebe from The Thundermans drinking eggnog to escape from a room or something like that and then later on phoebe (I think) started singing rockin around the Christmas tree.
I remember that eggnog escape room thing! It was on a Nickelodeon Holiday Special from 2015 called Nickelodeon's Ho-Ho-Holiday Special! It was the one where Rico Rodriguez kidnapped all the Nickelodeon stars to do a holiday special and made them drink eggnog to escape a room and stuff like that. Jack Griffo was also talking to Barack Obama for some reason. It was very weird! Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree was the closing song that ended off this special.
In talking about Lab Rats vs That's So Raven's exposition I think you hit on a big part of why people around our ages criticize new Disney. Recently I've seen a lot of pushback against it saying "of course you don't like it! It's for kids! You'd hate the shows you loved if they were airing now." And I've never been able to articulate my exact issue with newer Disney shows but it's just what you said: they explain every little thing to the audience. They treat kids like they're stupid. The old shows were corny and over the top but they at least treated us like we had an ounce of intelligence and could figure things out. I feel like even the excessive canned laughter if part of that: they think if they don't tell kids when every little joke is they won't get it. I've seen a shift in some media that my 1 1/2 year old nephew watches or kids shows that teen and adult fandoms pop up around (mostly all of these being animated) to treating kids like they're not complete idiots but it seems like a few years after I aged out of kids content until recently there was this kind of wasteland for kids of the time where everything they consumed just treated them like they were too stupid to understand it, and Disney fell excessively victim to it.
Jett Jackson, So Weird, Even Stevens, That's So Raven, Zack and Cody, Aaron Stone,Zeke and Luther, Kickin It, Lab Rats, KC Undercover, The Adventures of Pete and Pete, All That, Kenan and Kel, Drake and Josh, iCarly and Victorious were the only shows that were actually good and still hold up nearly all cartoons on both networks were always amazing
I never cared for that many kids sitcoms from Disney but in my opinion That's So Raven is one of the only kids sitcoms period that still holds up well today as an adult.
It makes me sad seeing The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, i was but a child upon viewing that show. And was still only 6 during The Suite Life on Decks first season airing. Being 20 years old it makes me feel old as shit now 🤣 but my god if we didn’t have some of the most entertaining shows
Also who else recognized Noah Wyle? Fun fact if anyone knows he and Drew Roy (who appeared in Hannah Montana) starred in a show called Falling Skies. Also fyi I have seen alot of shows haha
Fun Fact: the actor who played Mr. Petracelli was also the same person who played Pumbaa in the Lion King and Timon and Pumbaa, at least I think he did, I don't remember.
What I don't understand about the That's So Raven episode is that, like, why did she need to open the present? She saw a vision she got it and her visions have never been wrong and she has to put it back so she doesn't get caught, so why open it in the first place? To wear it? Why risk it if you know you'll get in trouble for opening it early? Especially if after wearing it for the day, you'll have to put it right back while after opening it on the actual day of Christmas she can wear it as long as she wants. Is her motivation ever explained?
I have recently subscribed due to your milo Murphy videos and I EXPECT to not be disappointed with your videos from here on out since I’ll be an advent watcher 🧐
So about the thing you said about how disney sitcoms randomly change locations and rebrand in their season 4s it's apparently because once they go past season 3 they actually have to pay their writers at a 100% rate of minimum wage. Quote from an article i saw about it "[Disney Channel] had a deal with [unions] that the first three seasons of a show you get paid at 88 percent of scale, 88 percent of minimum wage, pretty much, for the crew. The idea is, pretty much, you work on a show, it becomes popular, you go four, five, six seasons, and you get 100 percent of whatever that is." So basically the idea is loophole, you change the name of the show in the fourth season, you don't have to pay at 100% because now it's technically a new show or spin off

The suite Life one is so important to me 🥰. I thought it was quite funny but loved how it was grounded and also rooted back to the Christian themes of Christmas (I feel like if Disney wanted, they could’ve totally had Arwin’s light thing allude to the Festival of Lights… or maybe it does and I need to meet more Jewish people). Additionally the non religious but “family centric” desire of family time and dealing with divorced parents is very mature. I thought divorced families were a normal thing as a kid but as I got older, I learned that the media was JUST starting to represent them as I was growing up. And I bet younger kids see gay couples like this too. I bet they could’ve done Kwansa (a cultural holiday, but def worth mentioning) and Yule (though “we’re snowed in, let’s get drunk!!!” Doesn’t fit with this show… but certainly the setting 😂)

God I miss old Disney shows. My whole childhood right here
RAVEN FROM THATS SO RAVEN COULD SEE THE FUTURE
Yeah that was kinda the plot
I love that English Dub Naruto is in a ton of Disney shows and movies
Did I ever watch these shows? No. Will that stop me from watching this for no reason in the middle of summer? No.
Congrats on blowing up!
Another banger video
i'm from the future and u did not make a december 2022 video but there's still time 😈🐺
This video highkey underrated. Shit's just as good as your Club Penguin and Milo Murphey video. Keep it up king 🙏
Thank you.
