What I love most about "Girl meets Rileytown" is that we're never shown **who** is bullying Riley, and it's an amazing aspect of the episode because we never know specifically who is causing Riley harm, all we see is the terrible effects it has on Riley and her loved ones and Riley's growth and learning to love herself. A truly beautiful episode on something so horrible, but extremely real.
The That's So Raven episode where Raven was refused a job was pretty dark. But the episode of Raven's Home with Booker almost being arrested was even darker.
@@HadassahBuie and I also remember that one Lizzie McGuire episode where Miranda didn't what to eat anything just to lose weight I felt really sorry for her and to people that had to go through that.😊
The one episode in Girl Meets World, where the characters are given the assignment to forgive someone for what they did. Maya tried to forgive her dad for abandoning her, but couldn't. In the end, Corey asks if she forgave herself and she broke down crying. It always hit hard
Ironically reminds me of Sabrina Carpenter’s song “Emails I Can’t Send” which is about her real life father & how she can’t forgive him for what he did to her family & her mother.
I think one problem I've had with when these DComs try to handle serious subjects is that it's always a one episode thing. Like Lizzie's best friend has an eating disorder for an episode, but she's over it by the time the credits roll. Issues like this take months, if not years of work, to get under control, and you never "get over it" completely.
I agree with the remark about serious problems always being resolved in a single episode, but this issue has never been exclusive to Disney. This has been happening for decades on numerous networks even in shows for adults. Just FYI, DCOMs stands for Disney Channel Original Movies. This video was just about Disney Channel television shows and syndicated shows that were later shown on that network.
The 1930s racism is a lot dark because of people being judged by the color of their skin and it still happens today and the one dark moment missed is Booker being racially profiled by the cop in Raven's home and it just angered me a lot
Yes it anger's me when i see or hear discrimination against people especially if they're of color but discrimination not just about race it is also about gender sexual orientation or religion hate is hate no matter what form it take's
I liked that "Boy Meets World" wasn't afraid to delve into underage drinking or cults, especially on the Disney Channel. Its spinoff also did the same, but less effectively, in my opinion.
I feel like GMW would've been able too if it had been on a network channel as well. They pushed as much as they could with it being directly on Disney.
@antoniacosta6221 100% agree. Also, Shawn only drank because he didn't want Cory going down alone after he was reeling from his break with Topanga, and he still ended up with the raw deal in the end.
@trinaq contrary to popular belief Disney isn't bad at handling these types of topics its just since around 2010 alot of parents were claiming that a lot of Disney shows were bringing up topics that were Risqué like Death , Dating social cues, sexuality in general you know the real things that whoever watching has probably has gone through or knows someone who has. Like I remember reading somewhere that If GMW would have continued Maya (Sabrina's character) would have gotten into a serious situation with a older guy (Not Josh) at a college party and that the love triangle would have gotten more tangled with Riley and Maya maybe hooking up. There was a lot they could've done if they were giving a chance
Yeah like Dawson’s Creek, Beverly Hills 90210 & a bunch of other 90s/early 2000s teen shows that ticked a bunch of issues or similar ones. Wish we would get more shows like this. But instead we get shows like Riverdale of all things 🤢. I don’t want to sound like an senior old man or anything but it’s true what they say, they really don’t make em like they used to.
I didn't knew my childhood shows had such dark moments, thank goodness this channel made me remember them. Thanks, Emely, and a happy wednesday afternoon to you as well. Take care and God bless you, and greetings from Colombia.
The episode of Smart Guy with the creeper on the Internet reminded me of the Bicycle Man episode of Diff'rent Strokes. Luckily, unlike Arnold and Dudley, TJ refused to leave Karen behind.
Yup that is correct. It also reminded me of “The Counselor” episode of Mr. Belvedere when Wesley stops his friend Kyle from taking a ride from that counselor and “The Uh-Oh Feeling” episode of Webster when Webster helps his friend Beth dealing with that substitute teacher.
That Austin and Ally episode was a great example. I remember it was this girl Margot who started those mean comments about Trish because Trish got the lead in the play. Some would say about it “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. And we’re talking about teenage girls”
That Austin & Ally episode hit hard for me when I watched it. I was in elementary school and I was getting badly bullied at the time. Though, all through elementary school I was teased quite a bit. Elementary school kids can be mean man!
recently on raven's home. booker get his license and gets to drive his grandfather classic car. he gets pulled over. the cop doesnt believe him. almost gets arrested before victor shows up. so for several episodes booker does everything to NOT drive. he takes the bus, Scoot (their version of uber), train, bike, whatever just to avoid driving.
If the Disney Channel Latin American shows were included on this list, OH BOY. Kids almost dying in fires… kidnappings… adult woman pushing teenage girl down the stairs…
No surprise that a single moment from Secrets of Sulphur Springs doesn't make the list. I'd argue that the current season had THE darkest moment I've seen on Disney Channel!

I loved Beauties and Bullies from Austin and Ally. I love that Trish is so badass and devil may care but she’s vulnerable in that episode, which I admire. What bothers me is that people say that she can be mean sometimes and deserved it. While I agree that Trish can be mean, she has plenty of redeeming characteristics and it doesn’t justify her being bullied at all.

How is gargoyles not on this this? Brooklyn literally shoots her with a gun and it shows her blood 🩸
Wait, do Sister Sister, Smart Guy, and Boy Meets World count? They first appeared on other channels
How about wizards of waverly gorog and justin turning evil ?
4:29/9:03
Oh 1 hand I’ll never get the no eating thing because Lizzie’s friend is already skinny but on the other hand …… yikes
I know right I remember watching that episode as well but I really didn't think about that I mean wow.😊
7:16 it’s censored, even though people know what it is
Where’s the episode of Wizards of Waverly Place where they literally all almost died from an asteroid
😱they used a gun in a recent year show on THIS channel
You know disney is really good cover up is we never unexpected didn't we? a
correction error here boy meets world and sister sister are not property of disney channel they're just not however when it comes to peer pressure intermediation or you don't know best policy is to ask an adult if you don't know ask
It’s so dark!
Bring back Honourable mentions I know they’re in some videos but it seems like they’re getting in less and less videos now
Just gonna ignor the smoking episode in sister sister
The gun episode was stupid. I still prefer The Right To Bear Arms. The guns aren’t the killers. It’s the person who pulls the trigger.
Why isn’t sister sister on Disney channel
Disney +
I dont think the title "Darkest" Fits. We can say Real or Serious.
Its not intimidation its bullying 🙄
as a anorexic... i know what its like i passed out like 3 times. not joking
Even as a kid I hated when they would hqve the actual actors soeak to yoy at the end. The eoisode was oowerful enough on its own. Bow that I'm an adult Instill dont like it lol but I understand why they do it...kinda
Austin & Ally’s episode on bullying wasn’t that good
The Static Shock Episode about bullying was pretty spooky too.
❤
This list should've been named Top 10 Times Disney Channel Shows Tackled Serious Issues instead because that's exactly what this is all about. Even though a couple of choices on here align with Mojo's woke agenda.
