      This video shows How To wire (punch down / terminate) a Keystone Jack ( rj45 modular jack / ethernet connector / keystone rj45 / patch panel Keystone / keystone jack installation).
      It also explains the difference between the T568A and T568B wiring standards.
      We cover everything you need to know about Keystone Jack wiring, including the correct color codes and TIA/EIA-568 wiring standards for ethernet connections. Follow along our easy-to-understand instructions and learn the punch-down technique to terminate the wires in the Keystone Jack. With our detailed guide and the use of proper tools, you'll be able to confidently wire up Keystone Jacks like a pro.
      Our tutorial includes key steps such as cable stripping, identification of color-coded wires, and ensuring proper connectivity for seamless Ethernet connections. From home network setups to office networking projects, this tutorial provides valuable insights for your network installation and expansion needs.
      To start, you must choose the standard you want to use: T568A and T568B are the two color codes used for wiring eight-position rj45 modular sockets (or keystone jack / keystone rj45).
      Both schemes T568A and T568B are correct. T568B is by far the most common. As long as both ends of your cables are wired the same (A/A or B/B), you'll be fine.
      Then all you have to do is follow the colors of the rj45 modular sockets (or keystone jack / keystone rj45).

    Crossover cables with wiring A/B will often work as well. But that is no longer done today.
    The golden rule is to connect both sides equally.

      Does it matter if some cables are terminated as A and some as B, in the rack?

    • @HowToForum
      @HowToForum  4 місяці тому +1

      This is not a problem. as long as both ends of the same cable are terminated the same way A-A or B-B

      @@HowToForum You mean male and female must use the same scheme (both A or both B), correct? But if I buy a connected cable (ready to use, with 2 males, and I have built by myself a female like in this video...How do I know the terminations of my purchased cable? Is it indicated somewhere if it is A or B?

    • @HowToForum
      @HowToForum  Місяць тому +1

      @@mm16122005 No, I mean that both ends of the same cable must be identical. But this only applies to cables with 2 Keystone jacks (female plugs).
      For cables with male plugs, there are two possibilities:
      1. Straight-Through Cable:
      Uses the same wiring standard on both ends (T568A to T568A or T568B to T568B).
      It is used to connect different types of devices:
      - PC to a switch or hub.
      - Router to switch.
      - PC to router.
      2. Crossover Cable:
      Uses T568A on one end and T568B on the other.
      It is used to connect similar devices:
      - PC to PC (directly).
      - Switch to switch (without using an uplink port or auto-sensing).
      - Hub to hub.
      - Router to router (in certain configurations).
      I hope this explanation is clear and answers your question 🙂

    Hey I didn't see well in the video where did the thin silver wire come from that you ended up clamping into the keystone case? The one that was wrapped around the outside of the insulation

      This wire is the "drain wire". It is a part of a shielded cable, please look at the picture in the link below

      These keystone jacks are designed to simplify the installation process by using a method called insulation displacement contact (IDC). When you close the keystone jack, the contact blades pierce through the insulation of the wires and make direct contact with the copper inside. This ensures a secure and reliable connection without the need for additional tools or stripping the wires manually
