  • In this video I'll give my full in depth opinion of the ADJ WMX1 (Equivalent to the Wolfmix W1 in Europe) After using this controller for over a month on multiple events with various complexities and lights. In my opinion this is the best DJ lighting controller you can get right now for the cost and size making it perfect for mobile gigs, growing DJ companies, and solo DJ's.
    I'll detail this in the video but the WMX1 is basically a rebranded Wolf mix W1, ADJ distributes the product in the US but it is the same device. All of the features including WTOOLS, easyview, etc are the same.
    TL;DR if you are looking to upgrade your lightshows to a performance buy this!

    I’ve been looking at this baby for a while now and might just make the move. Thanks for your input!

    I agree that this is one of the best stand alone controllers at this price point for non LD's. It is easy to use and has some advanced features. After using it for a bit, I do have a few issues. First off, only having four groups visible at a time, is a big issue. Especially when the group button starts to stick and not work all the time which it has on my unit. Second, as you have pointed out, some major features are not available on advanced fixtures including prism, focus and iris. Live edit or possibly assigning these parameters to DMX in faders are the two solutions. I also couldn't figure out how to select one fixture at a time and change it's position for a preset position. The biggest issue that I have is with the presets. They are global and some looks are not good for front lighting that often needs to stay the same. This forces me to use the manual mode, but presets are so much faster to use. The best workaround is to purchase the DMX in and assign the dimmers to faders. They should have the ability to exclude groups in the presets. The discussion forum and their support are both helpful, but it seems like they haven't released any major updates in awhile. I have a feeling they will release a bigger version of this console with more features soon. The Chauvet ILS is not even in the same league. What is closest to this would be the SoundSwitch, but that is a completely different approach to controlling lighting. The ADJ Link also looks like a more powerful solution.

      The MK2 version is out now. It has MIDI support so you can assign all your Live Edits with Prism, Focus and Iris to a MIDI controller on hold or toggle buttons.

      the presets are exactly what they say presets you can easily edit these before your gig to match the venue, I agree with you this controller is limited if you dont want to be a ld it lacks alot of features if you want more options I'd recommend adj my dmx 3.0 basically same workflow with more control and they both use the same visualizer

      I started using Daslight 5 which has more control of each fixture, but the Wolfmix shines with the FX engines. The presets are easy to make on both platforms. Also, both systems easy to learn. @@neweratraxx2768

    I've been out of lighting since C-19 killed my business. It's actually a little impressive lighting controller that I've seen to date. I was surprised to see that many universes and 3 and 5 pin DMX. I think as time goes on, they will design much quicker and DJ user friendly systems. DJ's need to really focus on DJing. I hate weddings. Ha!

    Great review! I've been looking into this controller and Soundswitch, and still undecided until now. Do you need a subscription for this to operate?

      @DJALEXBROWN  6 місяців тому

      Nope no subscription needed. You can purchase add on softwares but its one time purchase I think. Soundswitch has never offered quite enough control for my liking but is probably better for someone who wants to be hands off

    I have been using Mydmx GO unfortunately it only comes with 256 DMX ch out of the box 😑 and it's hard to add channels. You have to go through a 3rd party to buy more channels and the customer service of the 3rd party isn't great.
    Looking at getting this I have several different fixtures including Chauvet, Both, Shehds, and even a Laluce Natz pixel light
    Does it have most of those profiles?
    Thanks for the video man

      I can’t comment on specific profiles, but you could probably download wtools and check or I’m sure they have a list. Major manufacturers like chauvet they should have

    does anyone know how much they charge to add the DMX universes? it is only a single universe but can do up to 4 if you pay more, but no where does it say how much so you can properly gauge the cost.

    I’ve got the Chauvet Intimidator 375ZX’s. How intuitive would this unit be for it? Can I adjust the mover on the fly to highlight a cake or the 1st dance? Should I just get a Chauvet Obey 70 w/ the joystick?

    • @DJALEXBROWN
      @DJALEXBROWN  9 місяців тому +1

      really more about preference, you would probably want to do these using live edits which can be saved and returned to, they will override anything else going on (at least from what you are describing)

      @@DJALEXBROWN I purchased the unit as well as the 375 ZX. I am learning it every day now a little at a time. I’m trying to get the grasp around live edits, presets, and recording projects.

    How to assign two differents effects, one for the front PAR and a second different effect to back stage PAR? Do I need two universes&

    • @DJALEXBROWN
      @DJALEXBROWN  9 місяців тому

      you can assign them to different groups (and DMX addresses) and adjust the phase, if you want to be able to set the exact color and timing you probably are looking for something better suited for stage vs live lighting
