For most users the Hero 10 is not a must have upgrade over the Hero 9, the difference in the video quality is only slightly better. But that GP2 processor makes the user experience so much better, now I navigate the menu system and not get frustrated, or worse yet, miss the shot because I can't get into my settings soon enough. Man... the color looks so much better on the 10. It almost seems worth it for what I use it for. I hate manually tuning every scene with the 9. Takes so much extra time. Thanks for the helpful vid.
Everytime I do research and finally decide to get a GoPro the next model has already come out. Then the new features make the previous model seem "behind" and the price of the new one is not really feasible and you know in less than a year the next "better" GoPro will be out. It just never ends... In saying that great video dude!

Every other year, or even every third year would seem to make a lot of sense to me. I have gone from a little-used Hero2 to the Hero10 and it is AWESOME! The new GP2 chip is what is driving the better performance in several respects. This will actually facilitate even better future development I think.
The 10 has the 9 beat with slow motion capabilities but to me the 9 has a much better cinema look to the image. The 9's image quality looks more professional and the 10 looks more consumer in my opinion.
Excellent comparison Danny. Agreed on the slo-mo, too. I tend to do the every other one thing as well with GoPros. I've the 4, 6 and 7 but the 9 went back faster than it was delivered because the menu screen for me was u/s.
The worthiest I found after upgrading is the touchscreen smoothness. Don’t understand why the top action camera brand like GoPro creates a very very bad touchscreen, and didn’t improve it for years.
if you own already the 9 i would not upgrade to the 10, but if you want to buy a new one, i would sure go for the 10 as it just is a little bit better on everything, specially during Black Friday.

sold my 9 and was planning to buy the 10 but like you said, evolutionary updates so i've decided to keep the 8 lol feels the same with most tech these days, the upgrades are so small it wouldn't feel like much of an upgrade
It's called marketing. I call it scamming. make it a little better so people buy it but not so great that you can't improve on it. They could have come out with better in the GoPro 8. It is awesome as it is. If I hadn't lost it I would never get a new one. But now I am saving for the 10.
I think steaming in 1080p means you connect the GoPro to your computer and use as a webcam, I use my Hero 9/10 for meetings and using 1080p with no issue, much better than the laptop build-in webcam. Also my Hero9 freeze a lot in media mod but no issue so far with my Hero10... so for those who want to use media mod may consider upgrade.
To make my decision I need to see a comparison between the 2 with real action, such as mountain biking. I owned the 9 but I will like to see the stabilizations difference.
Two questions. (1) is everything shown "right out of the camera" or was post processing involved? (2) what camera did you film with inside your studio?
IMO the Hero 10 should have had a three lens optical setup like the iPhone 13 instead of the inferior digital crop and optical image stabilization instead of inferior digital stabilization. Oh well maybe on the Hero 11.
I feel like some reviewers are stretching with saying this looks "way better".. Way better as in how? I'm watching this on 4K and I can say with 100% certainty that the videos and images look Marginally better. Where is anyone seeing this looks so much better? "Way Better" to me means it's a hands down you need to upgrade tomorrow piece of tech. This is not.
I agree (I don’t think I said way better in this) because the better part to me is that new “natural” color profile and that looks better. But as far as quality, I think it’s the same except for slow motion options
Hey Danny. Thanks for the great comparison. I've still got my Hero 3 LOL. Do you know if "The Remote" works on the Hero 10? On the Australian GoPro site it shows only Hero 9, same as the Max Lens mod. The overheating for me was only using 100fps, but back on 25fps there was no overheating at all, it filled the card (over an hour) Thanks.
I just lost my GoPro hero 9 in the ocean yesterday. Unfortunately can’t get it replaced because it’s lost. Looks like I’m upgrading to the hero 10 and not jumping off boats anymore with the float stick… the GoPro doesn’t stay on upon impact with the water 😩
The BTS at the beach was my favorite. Great review. "you're going to do what you want." 😅 I kind of felt that way from the 8 to the 9, but cracked myGP8's screen so I upgraded.

Good video, i just cant connect to my hero 8 or 9 via WiFi 5Ghz i have to drop to 2.4ghz, file transfer at 2.4ghz is so slow. The hero 10 allows me to connect at 5Ghz no problem. It’s worth upgrading to the hero10 just for the wifi, but now files can be transfer via usb im happy to use both cameras.
This is the same old none action cams user review bro the reason you upgrade is the lens the 9 shoot 5k wide and no superview the hero 10 shoot 5.3k in superview and 4k 120 as well that's why you totally need to upgrade if you are using a go pro for vlogging you don't need to upgrade the 9 ever really
it depends on how much you could save with the 9. so if you can find a good price for the 9 and then use the extra money for some good accessories, it might be a better option. If you are wanting some 4k slow motion shots you will want the 10 (thats really the biggest difference)

I see that they currently have a deal if you buy the GoPro 10 with subscription, you get dual battery charger, an extra battery and a SD card. But I wonder if it gets problematic if you buy it online and there is something wrong with the camera and you need to return it?
I am having freezing issues with the Gopro Hero 10 just navigating the menus. It won't respond to any buttons and I have to hold the menu button for a long time before it resets. I'm on the latest software. I'll be returning this for a refund. It's a shame. The sample videos I've seen look so good.
Aloha to you! I am not aware of a mirrorless lens for the 10. I saw a company back when the hero 7 was around, they would take your camera and make adjustments to it so you can add bigger lenses
The Gopro 9 is just so glitchy when live streaming. (Random dropping of the connection to the phone app, plug in the recharge when battery is at 90% and the 9 will collapse and lockup) I was hoping the 10 would be a improvement.
at 2:44 gopro 10 can see the hairs on your leg, but gopro 9 almost can tell you have shaved your leg. hmmm seems like gopro 10 is a good upgrade from gopro session 5.

Live-streaming is a major issue if it can do only 360p. You sure it’s not just your camera ?
