Truer words have never been spoken “I know what we’re like.” Us artists are PERFECTIONISTS, as well as our worst critics. And yes, those of us who color are definitely artists.
You are a great teacher, Calm smooth voice and you made the Technics you used look very simple. Sometimes we forget that this is supposed to calm us down or we are to just enjoy coloring and you showed us how we are to be calm and don't stress with the technics we sometimes forget how to do. Thank you very much Jeffrey.
This video is fab especially for ppl who like myself have bought all the kit including numerous sets of pencils but don't know where to start! Please do more of these simple, quick, straight forward understandable videos! You are a great teacher. When you just want to get started we don't want to be watching 30+ mins of videos where as this is perfect. Thanks
What a pleasure to find a male voice addressing adult coloring!! Too bad there aren't also more male images in adult coloring books. Thanks for being here.
I’m new, due to virus picked up new hobby.......so I’ve been searching for instructional videos before I get started in my books....I wish u would do more like this, it’s the best I’ve run across yet.....☮️
think all people pictures are beautiful and don't ever hate your work of art I color so much it's very relaxing for a long day of work I think everyone does a wonderful job I already did 302 pictures I collect coloring books but I rip them out and color more easier for me 😍
that was very helpful and i have been adult** coloring for a couple years now and wanting to do more..this was very simplistic and made a lot of sense ..good job!
Jeffrey Hitchin You are very welcome hun! 😊 Btw I have started some coloring and I myself feel like I am developing a huge artistic hunger and I am becoming more confident with my colorings..I have at this moment about 1000 pages of coloring pages from various coloring books..right now I am on a project in Kerby Rosanes Mythomorphia and it is soo inspiring!!! I would love it if we could collectively do some things..eventually I would like to start some things on my own but, just to share..this is something I am working on and I can thank you and all my UA-cam artists for helping bring this out of me..keep in touch will you?..here we go so far..lol I am a Super perfectionist and this has taken me 1 1/2 weeks so far on this😆..well you know what I can’t put it on here but I was trying to show you some pix but yeah..ty so much for the great advise!!!
Hi! You mentioned fixing pencils with broken lead... can you please advise how? Like others, I appreciate this video: short, demonstrative, informative and you are a great teacher. And I appreciate how you title your videos, too. 😁
This was really nice and simple to follow thank you. I got some blending colouring pencils for Christmas and I didn't have a clue how to use them. I'm new to the world of colouring so learning as I go :)
Hi, thanks for doing this video. What I liked: You gave the exact pencil colour and brand you used every time, it’s very helpful information and you seem very likeable and kinda funny - I laughed at the “tough love” part 😄. The only thing I didn’t like quite so much was that you had background music, although it was much better music than some of the things you get where you just about have to mute the whole thing. It was kind of nice but a depressing sort of piece. But I find any background music on any instructional videos to be distracting. Because I’m about to go into pencils this year (last year it was gel pens but they can be a bit limiting) so I want to know what pencil sets to buy, could you please tell me, from the pencils you named and used in this video, what are the actual sets you used, as there’s many different Prisma and Derwent sets on the market? And also, do you have a recommendation for the Polychromos? I want to buy about three brands of the very large sets of the best pencils around and any suggestions would be really appreciated 👍 Thanks again for doing this video. Sending you some lovin’ from Australia 🇦🇺
Dot from UK Some good tips there thank you for sharing, how do you sharpen your pencils and what do you do if you drop your pencil and the lead breaks especially when sharpening? Dot.
I use a Prismacolor manual pencil sharpener which gives me a decent point. The sad thing about Prismacolor pencils is that sharp points break easily and if you drop a pencil you can break the lead. I've read you can put them in an oven and the leads inside will melt and reform, but I've never tried this myself. I'll have to do a video on sharpening.
I liked that this was short, concise and to the point. I barely noticed the music, another plus. But HEY, who made the rule this is supposed to be calming? GET NUTS. Or don't. Who am I to say?
I'm having trouble with my prismacolour pencils. the are 4 years old, they don't feel smooth anymore, they are laying down rough. Yes I have been using other brands. I watched another colorist and so I went back to prismas.
As everyone said youre really good at teaching, thanks!! But I find using the dark color first (blend technique) then the light more logic because the lighter color blend the darker when you use it after... but the darker using after will just dark your lighter one...unless you pass the lighter after but Id have to try this.... Its just My proposition xD Im not saying is wrong to use the lighter color first!
Setsuna Pluto I did that too for the longest. I noticed that I would tend to overuse the dark color because I didn’t realize how little I needed. Both works fine, but I’m now more happy with my art when I use the light color first
I think using the light color first with oil colored pencils are easier... at least I did that with Marco Raffine (they said its oil) and it was easier... using the dark with prismas was better...I dont know... I find so hard blending both ways with the Raffine... maybe is the brand?maybe Im a crap 😢? I dont know... what brand do you use?
This is why in later videos I tend to say that this is how I do it, but feel free to use, modify or ignore anything I say as long as you like the results you're getting. The idea here is for folks to enjoy what they're doing. That's the most important thing.
@@CraftingWithJeff I didnt mean to offend you, I beg your pardon... youre a great teacher and colorist! I think my mistake was to use the word logic because in art the logic dont always applies, it depends... I just meant the logic for me, anyway... Im a very methodic person I guess.
I know this is off topic from the video itself, but I was wondering what technique you use to organize all of your pencils? By color or by brand, then color. I have 3 different brands and I want a 4th plus I have a couple of different marker brands and gel pen brands and I'm getting new ones one those as well. Anyone and everyone is welcome to answer. (loved The Doctor comment! Nice when you find fellow Whovians!) Great coloring tips! Thank you and please do share more.
I sort my pencils by brand, then color. Since I use two different brands that use different pigment types (one's wax, the other oil) I prefer to keep them separate and then just keep them in semi-cohesive color groups. I also tend to keep my Tombows and Copics separate since they're different shapes and different ink bases (water vs. alcohol).
Thank you for replying. I was thinking of doing the same thing. I just have to get my "art/office" room organized so I'll have the room do be able to separate everything out. Thank you for your suggestion... I really appreciated it.
What paper do you use for Prisma or Chromos? Also do you use wayercolor pencils.... is so what paper? I am so afraid to pressing to hard to ruin the tooth.
I tend toward using Bristol cardstock or the thicker papers that a lot of coloring books use. I don't use watercolor pencils myself so I can't help you there. About the pressure, you're more likely to break the lead if you press too hard rather than ruin the paper.
Oddly enough it's kind of random. I pick a color I want to color with and then put it somewhere. Only after I have some colors down do I start being a bit more selective.

Thank you that was excellent for newbie like me, simple clear explanation with no unnecessary padding.
Rose and Doctor...love it!!! And just go until you don't hate it! Best advice ever.
I love the easy way you teach. Excellent for adults as well as for kids. Good music that does not distract from your instructions.
I like this tutorial; the music and your voice were peaceful; easy to listen to. I liked the light pink color that you used. Nice blending! Thank you
Thanks so much for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Very helpful video! How do you get such a nice point on your Prismacolors?!
I use an electric pencil sharpener. I used to have a great Panasonic one but it died and now I'm using an iPoint Orbit that I picked up from Costco.
It was from a coloring magazine I bought at the grocery store years ago. I wish I could remember what it was.

Love the Mandala. What book is it from?
I wish I could remember! It was a page from a coloring magazine I picked up at the grocery store and it was something like Spring Flowers.
I think it was in DO Magazine. I have seen it before and I get that Coloring magazine. Hope it helps.
thank you!!!! :)
Great
Paper you use?
Hello, would like to color some mandala pages but something new ?
Depends on what it is.
@@CraftingWithJeff i am giving some free pages from my book for people who love to color and they share the final work so that help to promote it
What coloring book is that? can you tell me please?
I wish I could remember. It was from a flowers magazine that came out over two years ago. I have long since lost it. I'm sorry. :-(

Polychromos by Faber Castell.
