i had the pleasure of being there with johnny and right after we got john back on his feet… lol….we went in and recorded “Lonely” in merle’s studio in the back yard(so to speak lol) it was all a truly surreal experience to say the least. the making of that record has truly amazing stories that need to be told!!! pure and simple, johnny is a bad ass….. Merle thought so too! 😊

When we were married(early spring1969) we got an apartment and he saw two albums. Merle Haggard and Marty Robbins! Three days later he went for his 4th tour in VN, Cambodia, and Laos... He had also been in Korean War. After many tapes, letters, tears and prayers - my Darling came home🙏 We went to George Air Patch in Mojave Desert, California. From that time on Bobby and my Daddy- Jim(US Marine Corp-Iwo jima), my Brother Wayne, US Army, and one of my Honey's troops collected Merle Haggard Records, and cowboy writer, Louis L'Amour paperbacks, 😄 What an adventure 🥰 Bobby and I were blessed by Our LORD who gave us the most precious Daughter 💜💕- Those Soldiers are with Jesus along with precious loved ones-- I know they are very proud of our Beautiful loving Daughter! I had the honor of being there for what I truly believe will one day be hailed a historic jam session between Merle and John! Some of todays new country stars claim that Merle was an influence...But John Spicer was raised on Merle Haggard! The squeaking you hear in the vid is from Merles Chihuahua! lol. Great job Johnny! Thanks again Merle!
I finally cried over the loss of one of America's greatest songwriters. He moved millions of us with his music.. This was a great little video of him in his final days.
What a magical moment in time. You have to be one of the luckiest guys in the world to have the honor and pleasure to set in such a intimate setting and enjoy the historical Merle Haggard. What an American Icon. Miss you so so much Hag.
