I grew up in a Pentecostal church and I am reading this book now. And every time I do I fall in love with the Blessed Mother. How sweet, how gentle, how humble she is! She had such pure and deep affection to her Lord and her Son Jesus Christ! I love you, Mother Mary!!!!!!

I love this book of the Mystical City of God. I treat it as a great compliment to the holy bible. It is more concise and have read the entire 4 volume 3 times. It is so inspiring that I read it every morning. The effect I experience every time I read it is similar to reading a passage in the Holy bible. "John 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now." Some things never change. The first book is the hardest to get by. It's humiliating to consider how lowly we are and how filled with grace, which is God sharing His Divinity (see the catechism), Our Lady is. But keep plugging away at it.
My only disappointment is that the Catholic Church have not publicly acknowledge this book. Priests and religious do not even know anything about this book in existence. Six Popes have endorsed its worth but did not go further to promote it. Another thing, Venerable Maria of Agreda have not been named a Saint, even with the miracles that was attributed to her. The bilocation and conversions of the Indians in Texas and Arizona. Her incorrupt body as with other notable saints, is another testament from God. The Blessed Mother is so active now with all her apparitions happening around the world, it is now the time that our Lord is proclaiming the greatness of His Mother and the salvation we can receive through Her intercession. After all Jesus gave Her the church as her mother. Nothing do we get that did not pass through the hand of our Lady, the bearer of God’s treasure.

All others out there are schisms who have broken themselves from the one true faith. A religion established by mere HUMANS eliminating other chapters of the Bible. Catholic Faith is a universal faith with united interpretation of scriptures from our Mother FAITH. All religions out there have no unity because they interpret the Bible as an individual and that itself causes confusion, wrong interpretation not to mention, they are taught to discriminate Catholics.
Maybe it is just the voice they cannot bear listening to. I know with myself, in audio books, there are some voices that I just cannot follow through with because they agitate me for some reason. Even this voice, is one that I would choose not to listen to because it irritates me - but I will look for this book and use another voice to read it for me. This was God's will that Mary consented to in order to accomplish the redemption of mankind. Mary takes no position equal to or in opposition to her Divine Son. The sanctity of Mary is higher than any creature but she is still a creature and may not be adored. The reason for so many misunderstandings regarding Mary is that God made her the Queen of Angels and men by making Jesus the King of Angels and men. In the world, of which Jesus said, My kingdom is not of this world, the wife is the queen but in the sacred tradition of Israel, the queen was always the mother of the king. Lucifer and his rebellious demons refused to serve Mary as Queen because of her not being incarnate like Jesus but simply human. As recorded in the Bible, Jesus established one Church, Matthew 16:13-20. Take special note *("and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.") John 2:1-11, who ask Jesus, for the first miracle? Did he do anything about it? Was it a life or death situation? Imagine what he would do at the request of his mother if it were.

Do you think your disdain and flippant attitude twds the Blessed Mother will be looked at favorably by our Lord? After all, He spent His first 30 years with her. I suggest you read 'Behold Your Mother,' then maybe you'll be more apt to have a discussion on this subject. Remember the Catholic church compiled and wrote the bible and it was the protestants who removed books then turn around and commit blasphemy because they don't have the full truth. @@geetithe In the old testament there was such specific instruction on how to build the Arc of the Covenant. The Arc was revered and anyone who looked upon it died instantly. Mary is the new Eve, the arc if the new covenant. You think that Paul deserves more respect and adulation than a perfect creation, created to bring forth our Lord Jesus? Do you think your disdain and flippant attitude twds the Blessed Mother will be looked at favorably by our Lord? After all, He spent His first 30 years with her. I suggest you read 'Behold Your Mother,' then maybe you'll be more apt to have a discussion on this subject. Remember the Catholic church compiled and wrote the bible and it was the protestants who removed books then turn around and commit blasphemy because they don't have the full truth. We follow a religion started by Christ himself while you follow religions started by men and kings who wanted to divorce and commit adultery. Take your blasphemy somewhere else or educate yourself.
