Hey great job in the video.ive been walking out that door at 0530 for 35 years. Now that we re older it was going to be our time to take it easy and slow down. But my wonderful wife got a brain tumor.she is expected to recover over a two year period with some permanent disability. But she s still with me!! Yet, as a man, I'm expected to go to work at a hospital to help others when I'm dying inside. It's life... difficult at times. Impossible at others. But always grateful to God for it all.
Or birth, and again it’s for the family. It’s crazy that it’s at the point where I couldn’t even imagine someone giving me flowers. Like it’s almost repulsive because it feels like it shouldn’t happen
I am a Marine and USAF veteran. I first enlisted in the USMC delayed entry program the summer of 2001, I was going into the 12 grade. I was not sure I would be able to finish high school due to 9/11. I have been through 2 challenging divorces and child custody. I have lost friends and family, and it is ok to cry! I set aside 1 day a week to get emotional and cry. We are not robots and need to release the emotional relief valve regular to be able to function in life.

As a 53 year old, single father of 3 (with no support), the answer is always just shut up and get on with it. Put your shoulder into it and push. The time for feelings is never, or at least when noone else can see so they don't feel exposed because of a weakness in you.

(Originally from Malibu, California, I was a t-v news anchor and reporter moved around the country, ended up in Wichita.) Anyways, in March of this year I received an email from a casting director in Los Angeles, who found me on one of the sites I am on. She asked me if I was available to be in a music video in Salina, Ks. and I said yes. I really didn't know what my role would be until I got there. The director told me he wanted me to cry, so I watched a video that always churns up emotions. I got to talk to DAX quite a bit, he is so talented, and such a nice and intelligent guy. He was on "The Today Show" Thursday Dec. 28 singing "To Be a Man." So happy for his success! It's been so great to be part of a project that has impacted so many people. We as men don’t want to be looked down on and that line about only being known for what we provide isn’t so much us complaining cause that’s what we want to do it’s just not easy and a lot of the time goes unnoticed in this day and age.We want as men to provide and protect. You apologize for crying but I think that's exactly what a lot of men needed to see. I think a lot of men don't feel like women are able to empathize with men unless it's their own son or the empathy benefits them in some way, like when the circumstance they're empathizing about could also happen to a woman, or when a woman could suffer indirectly as a result of the circumstance. Crying about this song specifically is true empathy.
As men we were created to be strong emotionally and to stand with a wild amount of stress of life will protecting our love ones and providing for them but there is something about it being noticed and appreciated by those love ones that gives us extra strong and fired up. But in turn if it’s not appreciated we also can start a cycle of struggle that cause us to shut down more and more till unfortunately some men don’t recover and end it all. Men we got to fend for each other as well.

I would say a huge reason men don't open up to their lady like that isn't because of looking weak. In general our goals is to take away the weight from the woman and children in our lives. If we opened up we would be taking our weight onto her. So we deal with it on our own or with friends during our guy time.

I know when men meet people they do not know, one of the first things they ask is what does he do for a living. Most women in that same situation get asked how they are doing, what have you been up too.

It's not just about looking weak. A lot of the time we hide ourselves to not burden our women. I'm a first responder. My wife is a bartender. She doesn't deserve my mental burden heaped upon her. She doesn't need to know what I've seen. She just needs to know that I had a good shift and that I came home.
Part of men burying emotion is to npt look weak. Another major factor is because we feel like its a burden to others and a "how will they think i could help them if i need help." Mindset.
Some things to keep in mind about men (maybe just me idk) we don't show emotions the same way as women but we have them, we don't ask to show them we just want to be appreciated. When we show our emotions, listen. It's a point of pride for men to be strong, it's what brings us joy. I think part of were we are at is women convincing men that we need to act like women but when we do women complain about us beating them in sports... Jk
