People seem to adore this one I’ve always found it overrated, beginnings good, endings good and then the middle takes ages to get through. I still prefer Christmas invasion, barely has the Doctor in it and yet manages to be brilliant and tense all the way through

i like that the doctor pokes rory’s head when he says “dormant mind.” the eleventh doctor is kind of like a shaman, command you to take command of yourself, realize your surroundings, be alert and pay attention. he doesn’t like it when people stammer or get distracted, and so he emphasizes rory’s dormancy. throughout the show, while rory’s “lagging behind” is still played as a joke and a way to get in some exposition, rory gets way more into the moment. everybody the doctor knows gets obsessed with the here and now.
This was the moment in which I knew Doctor who would become part of my life! "Believe me for 20 minutes" resonated in me, making me a fan of the show plus later on watching Tennant's era 👏
Why do I remember this so clearly I was Young when it first aired I loved the show at the time it's changed drastically from the end of season 6 things went down hill In my opinion after season 7,8 and 9 10 was a change I just hope 11 is Good
I think this was/is one of the BEST Dr. Who episodes EVER. I watched the OG Dr. Who from waaaay back. Started with Tom Baker, then watched all the reruns I could. Been hooked ever since... Until the dark times. (Chin ballz)

Michael Johnson I understand the obsession thing, like any other companion before, until the kiss scene and the miniepisode, it is just lust from there.
She flirts. There's a kiss. Some hugs. She loves the Doctor, but she's not in love with him. The only person we ever really see Amy act lustful about... Is Amy.
Rory is always dissed, but it took him like 5 seconds to realize The Doctor was raggedy man in the flesh.
Also the hospital thing he figured out and stuck by it.
Karen does amazing here.
She wants to believe. She wants to hope. But she’s spent so many years (4 psychiatrists!!!!!) being told it wasn’t real.
*12 years and 4 psychologists
Well she probably only needed one if it wasn't for the fact that she keeps biting them

One of the most underrated episodes in New Who and easily the best opening episode for a new doctor established the new tone for Matt Smith so well.
I don't know if its underrated as such, most people seem to rate it as one of Moffat's best scripts.
I think 75% of UA-cam commenters think "underrated" is just a synonym for "engaging."
Yup. I said that on that day.

I’m not usually a fan of camera flares, but this one, this one I love...
That and Amy's hair glow seem to make the moment more... well, magical.
It seems all Peter pan and magical. Camera flares like these should only be used in intimate moments like this
JJAbrams
@@Ral_Sera Well JJ Abrams's Star Trek came out a year before this episode
Yeah, it symbolises acceptance.
And THIS is why bow ties are cool! They never can get trapped in things like a regular tie! We have Amelia Pond to thank for this...
I'm so mad. I've watched this episode dozens of times and never made that connection 🤦♂️😅
The directing in this episode is so good. That stop motion part is so creative and I don't think they've ever done anything like that again
A bit like Sherlock isn't it?

0:38 "So, Steven, how over the top do you want your sequence to be?
-Yes."
Arthur Darvill really is a treasure.
If you look really carefully, you can see the dog turn its head from 0:48
I love how he could have proved it to her multiple ways but just asked her to believe.
Doctor: Well what were you doing for twelve years? Amy: I got stuck in Jumanji...
Ever come across a bloke called Peter Quill?
Matt slaps his forehead twice. I can safely say this was his idea, not in the script. And all that physicality of 11, gotta love him!!
Why the doctor wears a bow tie
OH MY GOD!!!! True!

Because they're cool.
Bow ties are cool
Because bow ties are cool
I love this scene specialy the Light when she begin to believe him
Writing and performances. So, so very good. Magic.
All that camera moving stuff is very Sherlock isn't it...
@Gunnar Jayden yup, I've been watching on Flixzone for since december myself =)
@Gunnar Jayden Yup, been using flixzone for years myself :)
That stop-motion part reminded me of Sherlock so much.

Rory started off as a key helping part of the episode.
How every Arthur Darvill closeup should work

The Doctor’s hitting himself because that hand is still part 10... I love that headcannon and I refuse to believe differently.
Such a beautiful episode to start with

Oh my sweet summer child
Watch out, 11, your Moffat is showing...
Amy & the Doctor just had that spark. Rory, I still wished you had better development but to me, Rory = Kenny (South Park)
The combination of the actors on Doctor Who were one of the best in ALL the Doctor Who Shows.
Best lens flare in cinematic history

I always love the new Doctors opening episode. Easily one of the best 👌 Straight from the word go, in the burning Tardis.
Amy's little jump and pause at 2:57 made me laugh 🤣 so cute
Some magic in this clip
11th getting his tie in the car, he could have undo the tie
Wouldn't have happened to a bow tie hahaha
When The Doctor was worth watching.
Now I wonder... is it REALLY the same apple? Probably not right? Unless they made these 2 scenes right after eachother
0:14 Um, Doctor what do you expect them to do?
Ah the days when Doctor Who was worth watching
She so pretty.
when Steven Moffet very, very briefly tried to turn Doctor Who into Sherlock.
0:13 upon rewatch, it turns out The Doctor did see it.
Why didn't he use this ability ever again
i mean he did it in that christmas episode
He does it all the time, they just dont waste time showing in. Photo graphic memory
Honestly, I had really hope Amy to be a Bobbie, I would've been cool, just think about it, a Fuzz, a Nurse and a Doctor walk into a bar~
0:36 to 1:03 gives me a headache
00:50 to bad he only does this trick once
If they bring back Amy, she should be wearing that Police Women's costume.
this reminds me rory used to be important and smart
Oranges arent the only fruit
Do you think that if he knew years later he’d watch Amy die he would have had the same plan here?
"In A hospital" ??? 🤨
Da fuq happened to the standard British "In Hospital" just then? 🤨

Still me amy
I liled this episode1-Amy, a little cocky but adult and serious, not like the Amy full of lust for the Doctor of the rest of the season, was awful 😕
gohanmoreno7 it's not really lust, per se. It's obsession. And it's entirely consistent with this episode.
Michael Johnson I understand the obsession thing, like any other companion before, until the kiss scene and the miniepisode, it is just lust from there.
I can agree on that, but she did grow up over the course of Series 5, 6 and 7, and I think that’s what they were aiming for.
