Russian leader Vladimir Putin's solicitous act of draping China's First Lady Peng Liyuan in a shawl has become a social media highlight of the Apec summit. It also ignited Chinese forums on Tuesday, which was Singles Day. Mr Putin stole the limelight on Monday when at an Apec party he carefully placed a shawl over the shoulders of China's stylish first lady Peng Liyuan.
A gracious Ms Peng accepted the offer, but removed the shawl only seconds later, replacing it with her own black jacket. It was a fleeting moment but captured on live television and China's internet users went wild for the gesture, posting the GIF image on their Weibo accounts.
One Weibo user (TuXiaonuan_sakura) lauded Mr Putin's act, saying: "Well done, uncle Putin."
Another user, "Happy Zhang Jiang", also fell for the Russian leader: "Like Putin. He is truly a man. He is the heart throb for many women. Cool!"

***** it didn't really go with what she was wearing though. The first lady is a fashion icon in China. I think she opted for the coat because it complimented her outfit, this was explained to Putin which is why he nodded and smiled as she removed his "rag" lol. I thought it was nice of him though.

The husband of China's First Lady Peng Liyuan deserve to be proud of the respect that Putin made against her. Besides, China's First Lady Peng Liyuan and beautiful woman and friendly.
In the united states, you are supposed to first ask what they identify as and if it would be okay to offer your coat. Don't forget to check their pronouns too.

How stupid of that lady. This is clearly a faux pas by the Chinese first lady. She should have accepted Russia's presiden't offer of blanket for 15 minutes as good manner dictactes. She should not have rejected the offer. The coat means nothing. Her coldness means nothing. The diplomatic gesture means everything. She shows herself to be cold. Her country is hosting to many countries and should have shown gracious welcome, not personal pride or standoffishness. That small gesture is VERY IMPORTANT DIPLOMATICALLY. was so important to the feeling of the Russian president who has been battered by sanctions from the West. How stupid of that lady.
