To my Christian family I am the Wicked one for being Gay..
The Emerald City to me was the church. A lovely place to be at first but very manipulative and close minded.
“If I’m flying solo, at least I’m flying free…” I felt it in my bones when she sang this.

@@jonathanalfred446 It was the same for me. I did a video about Defying Gravity has been holding space for us, not the other way around, for that exact reason

My favorite moment in the movie is in the small sequence of defying gravity we see her falling and the many voices of those who mocked her and how it impacted her and as she falls sees her young self reach out to her as she takes on the mantle of being the leader to defy the system and the wizard. Cynthia needs awards for portraying Elphaba

She needs so many awards!!!!! This was also directed beautifully to set it apart from the stage play. I’m in awe

After watching with my mother, we discussed how Elphaba represented the Spirit filled and Christ-driven believer, with Glinda being a perfect symbol of the white-washed tombs Christians, who delight in displays of righteousness but aren't filled with anything good.

I love the dynamic of Elphaba and her love for the animals basically began with her nanny who truly cared for her from the beginning

This is a very good observation. I never really made the connection to her love of animals to who raised her! Wow! Thank you for this comment!

@@TishFergusonBeautyI didn’t make that connection until I saw the movie, I didn’t really pay it no mind when I saw the musical

I took a quick 90-minute flight down to watch the movie with my sister (and four other friends!) on opening weekend. I had taken my family to see the tour in San Fran a few months back, and my sister and I loved it. I think the breakneck pace of the stage musical helped my parents enjoy it too.
This video was very healing for me. Actually, your channel in general has been a light (found you through your Wicked trailer reaction).
I grew up very Catholic, but my parents can be small-minded at times. I think I need to give my mom some more grace because she may just be being diplomatic. I think my father is very insecure and uses differences to put others down and feel better about himself. I don't think my father would enjoy Wicked (2024), but maybe I should take my mom with me to watch the movie a second time.
9:13 this reminded me that Stephen Schwartz wrote the music for Prince of Egypt and then went on to do Wicked (I have "Through Heaven's Eyes" playing in my head rn)
Religion is a comfort I can't partake in currently, but it is very heartening to see and hear from people who are so loving and kind.
    Thank you for sharing 💚💖

Thank you for this beautiful and thoughtful message. Wow wow wow. My mission is to share my relationship with God and NOT religion. It’s a road that is not honorable when a person chooses traditions over loving thy neighbor. I could do a whole video on this topic lol. I’m going to go listen to that song! I thank you for watching and this beautiful comment

What I didn’t get what was the wizard wanted to silence the animals until it’s explained by Dr Dillamonds about the great drought and how oz was nearly destroyed so they blamed the animals and to bring folks together is to give them a good enemy. The animals voice was their strength so silencing them is taking their right to stand up for what’s right away and he can control them easily such as the monkeys. Elphaba has already been told to be silent by her father and her being this revolutionary is very impactful for a community that is misunderstood

This year, especially this past month I have been denying God and His existence because of constant mistreatment, especially from "Christians". I grew tired of being devoted. Slowly my curiosity in the Bible is growing, but I am also very hesitant.
