    You are very kind to take the time to converse with me, and for that I am very grateful.
    Let me say something that seems pertinent to now.
    Thoughts and dreams can be like this visually chaotic and musically pleasant video you have presented here.
    Too complex to decipher overall, yet the resonance of the bowls are so pleasant to listen to.
    There is no meaning to the universe. To have a meaning is to have a thought. But we can’t attach to a thought. And if we try, we twirl in samsara.
    You are the answer. You don’t find an answer.

    Beautifully inconceivable scenario! The ancient Hindu Rishis have anticipated similar time-space problems. They unequivocally taught that Consciousness precedes theoretical physics. The multiverses in which we are embedded as a “Dream”. They stated that While Consciousness is birthless and deathless, Universes come expand, contract and this pattern repeats as infinitum…illustrated as Vishnu (the sustainer) nourished by His umbilical connection to Brahma (Creator), and sleeping on an ocean imagined as coils of Siva (destroyer). When Vishnu awakens a new universe is born. Of course this scenario is entirely imaginary, but it serves as a prelude to modern Astrophysical phenomenal theory. Dr. Lee

      Nice but that all just adds an extra layer of complexity. How would consciousness "precede" physics ? The word precede is time based and time is physics. So if you already have time then that is physics and that is before consciousness.

    The probability that a Boltzmann brain never forms may tend toward zero, but there is still the possibility that it does not. Just as there is a possibility of a coin landing heads repeatedly over eternity. That possibility is as likely as any given sequence.

    • @Disculogic
      @Disculogic  12 днів тому

      I don't think that's how infinity (in this case infinite time) works.

    • @JackPullen-Paradox
      @JackPullen-Paradox 12 днів тому

      @@Disculogic Consider a Poisson distributed random variable X, where l is the average number of successes per unit time and t is the interval of time in question. Then P(X = 0) = exp(-lt) --> 0 as t --> infinity. So, t > -ln(e)/l for any e > 0 satisfies the requirements. But limit -ln(e)/l as e --> 0+ = +infinity. However, Nature does not admit of completed infinity. Therefore, e must never be 0, and t must be finite. Then P(X =0) > 0.
      Poisson is a good distribution for this, and even though we have assumed a constant rate, l, it is possible to be more general. But what we are trying to get at is the principle that time is never infinite and so the probability of the event that the Boltzmann Brain never forms is positive.

    • @JackPullen-Paradox
      @JackPullen-Paradox 7 днів тому

      Furthermore, if we divide time into even segments and apply a uniform probability function to each segment regarding the chance if generating a Boltzmann Brain, we could look at sequences like FFFFFS..., or FFFFFF.... where P(F) >> P(S). Each sequence will have a zero probability of occurring theoretically in a completed infinity. Yet FFFFFF... would be more probable than any sequence containing S.
      Now if S terminated the sequence, P(F)^n >> P(F)^(n-1)P(S), so a sequence having no successes is still more likely.
      So, with completed infinity in mind, I think there is still a chance that a Boltzmann Brain would fail to materialize.

    • @JackPullen-Paradox
      @JackPullen-Paradox День тому

      @@Disculogic My final argument:
      The claim that every possible entity will be accreted given "infinite" time is fallacious. Even though, theoretically, any sequence of successes and failures of the creation of a given entity tends toward zero probability, that does not mean that that sequence is impossible. So, the sequence of nothing but failures is also possible, and, in fact, more likely than any given sequence containing a success.
      It is also true that the amount of matter is finite, which means that the probabilities are not independent from one creation event to another of any given entity. So, it seems that the probability that every possible configuration of matter is accreted must be very near zero.
      Nevertheless, creation of Boltzmann Brains is the more likely outcome; however, if the brain were anything like ours, it would require what amounts to a body that can withstand the conditions of space. It would probably require oxygen and nutrients, heat and water. This would mean that it may require something like a planet of sufficient size to capture an atmosphere, and which is near a star to supply heat. But if this is a maximum entropy universe, could a sun be possible?
      But the very very low probability still could see infinitely many BBs over an unbounded span of time.
      If BBs require a planet for survival, then the BB mechanism would compete with the more likely mechanism posited for the creation of humans. If the planet formed and the BB some billions of years after, creatures might have formed "spontaneously" as they are posited to have done in Earth. The BB would then have to compete with these creatures for survival. Because they are not naturally adapted in most cases, the BB would lose the competition. But some would likely survive.
      Yet, I do think that if we look more at the specific requirements and the likely conditions of the universe, the more our notion of a BB will tend toward impossible.

  • @thomassoliton1482
    @thomassoliton1482 16 днів тому

    If I understand the BB correctly, it materializes instantly out of quantum field fluctuations. Two major problems I see. (1) Consciousness as we know it (as emergent from our brain) arise from the “need” to survive. All conscious organisms function to survive. That requires an effector system -motor functions - to acquire energy sources and protect against damage. That would be lacking in a BB. (2) Such a highely unlikely organization would require energy to maintain it’s structure. Where does that come from? It took 2.5 billion years for humans to develop, meaning to assemble the means to convert surrounding material to a form (e.g. glucose) that can be used to maintain it’s structure against entropy. Otherwise, the BB would not last long enough to have more than a few “thoughts”, much less a whole dream.

    This theory (Bolzmann) its disturbingly depressing, if you think about it.
    Almost nothing at all, not even heath or any other meaningful energy interaction...WTF!!!
    The only "good" characteristic it has, is that even counsciousness doesn't exist and so, nobody would really be aware of it, hence if wouldn't really matter for us in any meaningful way, emotionally, physically or otherwise.
    ****In my opinion, our (we, the human species) knowledge about the universe at this "point in time" lack comprehensiveness, among other things and so it is highly unlikely for any of us to see the universe with its happenings beyond the tip of our nose, this being a very optimist outlook about our self-worth within these lines of thought.
    Surley it must be a quicker way to get where we need to be, as this scientifically "learning, applying, evaluating results and re-evaluating them, times and times again, etc" is a very, but very slow process when it comes to our life span and can yield many (all type ) errors on its way.
    Why shouldn't there be multiple paths to the same outcome, since one is possible?!!?! Who says there must be only one way to the result?!?!?
    🤨🙂

    21:40 your contradicted yourself. You said complexity of experiences etc etc proves we aren't boltsman brains. No it doesn't, since you hypothesised the emergence of boltsman brain at random in infinite time and space universe. Each brain is as complex as universe itself. Who's to say universe isn't a brain to begin with anyway. Regardless, if brain appearing is considered not impossible in limitless universe, then you really have no good argument about life experience not being just product of such.
    And anyway, time only makes sense for observer. So up to the point of universe getting created, being it via evolution or spontaneously could very well be exactly the one and the same thing, only described from two different perspectives. For infinite time universe, our evolutionary existence in present universe is exactly just an instant. No matter how many billion exponential eons universe would exist in planetary, galactical order, all this time compared with infinity of endless cyclic universe is nothing more than an instant. Basic maths prove that. So with evidence we have - boltsman brain universe is one of most sophisticated view on existence and our lives.
    Any other theory could only be as likely as this, not surpassing it. Since your only way to prove to yourself you aren't just a brain in universe is when you die and find out. So there isn't no clever arguments here you can throw to prove anything otherwise to anyone since this is philosophical problem, not scientific. Since science can't observe beyond its own boundaries of existence....

    • @dovydasvaiksnys3807
      @dovydasvaiksnys3807 Місяць тому

      And it's funny when you say false memories. How can memories be false if that's the only memories there exist. Hypothetically there isn't a better explanation to life than that it is alone and all stars galaxies, sciences only exist cause this lonely mind believes they exist. Not that any living being can be disproven of this since its unknown. If you knew, if boltsman knew then he wouldn't have to hypothesise. The fact you even debating this is because there isn't any better answer. Life is a mystery. Mystery in a sense that no living being while its alive could ever know if they even exist at all or not. You don't decide the rhythm of your breathing or when exactly will you wake up. If you wake up since statistically death is more likely while asleep than while awake. How would your brain would know that it died and never woke up. You wouldn't. Wherever cosmos conical randomness would throw your experience next week always remain a mystery to everyone.

      @Disculogic is discussed why but arguments aren't tangible. Since universe is infinite, time is infinite, then as much as its probabilisticaly unlikely, its also inevitable consciousness would find itself appearing in physically constrained vessel of flesh and bone experience of what it appears life although as long as experience lasts, one would never know if all this real for whatever we think real is.
      It's impossible to rationally construct any arguments that would prove me being as real as you are. Meaning - if brain appearing is possibility then it's as likely as me being just some npc of cosmos while you are the only one real conscious player experiencing life whilst all else is just an illusion.
      Then you say its less likely which what annoyed me since it looks like you solved the riddle but then without any reasonable argument just state its unlikely. No. You were right the first time. Its more likely that than two conscious beings happening to inhabit same spot in universe at same time

How can boltsman brain be less probable than evolutionary existence when you can easily think of them both as the same thing anyway. It is the same thing. Who throws those random particles into existence anyway. All this is a mystery for us to crack since we don't have tools to do so. So with so many unknowns, you can't reasonably justify the probability between apples and oranges.
