Thanks for this. quick question, what if it had been an OID muni?
Why is there no accretion? It seems like it’s a secondary market discount bond since it was purchased 6 years after the issuance. Or would the question explicitly state it’s a SMD bond?
Only OID accretes not SMD
Look at the issue amount it was issued at par so it is an SMD
@@Series7Exam ah gotcha, and for SMD's the discount amount, if held to maturity or sold, is ordinary income. Thanks!
