I'm from Arkansas and there is a small town here called brashers was started by Kentucky confederates of the 13th Kentucky Calvary they were all family that served together and they are buried in the brashers cemetery
Tom There are still folks here in KY that will argue that the western part of the state was Union and the East and parts of the Southern part of the state were Confederate there were Counties where one would be Union and the County next to it was Confederate. A lot of families were split The Older folks used to say The Baptist Churches were split because of the war I don't know about that but i do know. We have Southern Baptist,General,Missionary,Primitive, Seperate Baptist We have more Baptist Preachers than we have fried chicken to feed them. ''It's a KY joke''
The same debates have been ongoing since the war itself. But, it is interesting to discuss these topics and get different perspectives. Thanks for watching Doug! (Save some fried chicken for me, please!)
I live over in Western Kentucky just North of Fort Campbell and I can say without a doubt, Kentucky is most DEFINITELY a Southern state. You don't believe me? Just ask the Daughters of the Confederacy how they feel about that😐
I don't doubt you Roger! However, there were lots of states that had dual loyalty. For instance, East Texas had a large German immigrant population that was more pro union. Another glaring example is how Virginians in the western part of the state were pro union and actually formed their own state of West Virginia. Thanks for watching Roger.
Many thanks to you gentlemen for keeping our country's history alive. Cheers!
You are very welcome David. We enjoy doing this.
