  • Bamberg cathedral dominates the city in northern Bavaria. Here I attempt to outline its history and the role the church played in development of the city of Bamberg.

Fantastic video and extremely informative, we have only traveled in Southern Bavaria and would love to see this cathedral. We also had Ladybird books as children and bought them for our children. Thanks for showing us.

Fire seems to be a curse to the great religious buildings throughout the world and it doesn't matter what century it occurs. Great commentary to go with excellent film work, thank you Al.

Was stationed there for two plus years over fifty years ago and I was a pfc and paid a whooping almost eighty bucks to fly my wife " still married to the same beautiful woman" over and we lived one block from there, on Franz Ludwig Strasse and fell in love with Bamberg and our daughter was born there. We had no car and made like two hundred bucks a month and they were the best times, simple and no frills. Thank you ❤

Beautiful and unique place with history. I have associations with the Polish Wawel and the castle in Gniew, although also with Cham. 🙂

Why hasn't anybody ever mentioned how to access the towers, and show the inside of them?

It's amazing how many fires can destroy or damage solid stone buildings. I guess the historians think we're very stupid.
This cathedral is Tartarian structure and all the history about it is a fairytale.
