- Bamberg, in northern Bavaria must be one of the most attractive cities in Germany! The town is dominated by the huge cathedral but the most interesting building is perhaps the Town Hall which is built on a bridge over the river!
Thank you for bringing back memories of walking around this beautiful town which I did as a Dutch/Australian twenty year old. I had just arrived in Europe and I got a job working on the Rhine River barges. Our first trip was to sail to Bamberg up the Main River. My Dutch skipper and his wife took me for a Sunday walk around this delightful town 48 years ago. I did not realise at the time the mediaeval beauty of the town but I certainly grew to enjoy the history and architecture of these fine European towns as I got older and mature. Been there, U.S. Army 90 through 92.
I used to live on Langestraße, very close to the cathedral. I loved it there. I was hopping to find something on Bamberg on UA-cam. Thank you!

Lovely city evoking old Germany. It survived WW2 quite well!
I lived there for nearly three years, 1972, '73, '74, while in the US Army... 2/2 Armored Calvary Regiment H Co, H34, M60-A1 main battle tank ... Also did border duty near Coberg several times per year ... Went to NATO training facility's called Hohenfels and Grafenwohr ... Scored highest score in Grafenwohr as a Spec 4 gunner my last time there ...
I must have walked over those bridges in town, and through the walkway under the town hall hundreds of times ! ... The cobble stone streets ... The beautiful homes and buildings with huge exposed wood beams and flowers hanging on their walls ... The alluring smell of bratwurst stands ... The many castles of Germany ... The many biers ... The many times going to Frankfurt, Munich, Nuremberg and many other towns in Bavaria ... I'm proud the Bamberg was declared a world heritage site ... An honor it richly deserves ... Those years, and the enrichment they gave me, were the best years of my life ... Best regards...

Absolutely beautiful! I’m curious as to the Jewish population if any prior to WW2. Were there any synagogues, Jewish businesses, etc.? Just curious.
Bamberg is on my travel list this august. Is there any WW2 significance so i can add to the smoked beer adventures, Prost
I forgot to film the house of von Stauffenberg - at least I think I forgot to film it. I also got an invite to visit the new witch burning museum - I did a video on that a few years ago.
