- Hey welcome back, Ben again!
Today we're going over how to setup a new raspberry pi 4 and then how to access it remotely without the need of plugging anything into the pi!

Raspberry Pi imager: www.raspberryp...
VNC: www.realvnc.co...
i've struggled doing this and your video actually helped me! really good guide man
Whoa, thanks for telling me that I could connect via the command line. I was struggling using PuTTY and Bitvise. The only problem is that VNC now charges for using their software
They have a LITE version of their software for local use only if that is what youre planning on using it for
Thanks a lot. I was struggling for a while trying to connect my raspberry pi. This video was really helpful
This was so Helpful! Many other videos were either outdated/not to the point. Thank you!
great video! everything is straight to the point, I just have a question regarding the part where you did ssh in the command prompt on windows to access it remotely. so I just got a raspberry pi 5 and I have not set it up at all aside from what you showed from the beginning of the video. I have done everything to the T and when I try to access it with the user and pass, it just says could not resolve host name error. do you know any reasons this could be ?
you have saved my life for the second time, thanks a lot
2:00 ON NEWER VERSION, DONT FORGET TO TURN ON SSH!
thank you Ben, your video was a lifesaver!!
I haven't popped in an SD card yet and followed along but thank you for this video, this is likely what I'll do with my project because it's so abstract otherwise. Thanks for showing errors you ran into as well, subscribed.
Wow ,im so dumb,, now i realize that i did that setup before installing kali Linux, but the fact that u mention that in the beginning solve all my issues and questions, other videos just talk but dont show ,or show dint explain or both, they skip stuff ,but this video literally answer alot question and save me time from watching dumb videos,,
Very helpful. Just VNC'ed my first pi headlessly with no issues.
Hello Ben, you are a legend!!
Thank you so much, i was struggling to connect with my raspberry, this video helped me a lot!!
Thank you. I purchased a Rasberry Pi 4B and did not realize it required mini HDMI cable, which I did not have. Now I don't need one and I don't have to sacrifice a monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Many thanks for this great tutorial. Even just having the ability to SSH into it is an excellent option as I may end up doing a lot of Python coding on it an a graphical interface is not necessary but nice to have.
Great to hear!
my favourite person of the day
This is the best video so far. You have my respect.
It's working.. ❤ appreciate you ...
Thank you Ben mate it worked finally after 6 months!!!
This is the best vid . I HAVE SEEN .but I apreciate if you answer our comment
I got an error in VNC saying "unable to connect to vnc server using your chosen security setting" what should I do?
Thank you so much for extra ordinary effort to teach such a great thing.
Very helpful. Installed everything without any issues
i'm a plug and play guy so I needed help. thanks perfect.
bro i have been through 4 videos before but this videos land me to sucess
Thank you!! This resolved an issue I spent days trying to resolve.
Hi Ben, I'm wondering how the cloud connection works? My Pi and I are currently at a different location and different network. (the pi is in my team already as I signed in to the vnc account as you showed)
Nice presentation! It’s works with flight radar 24 system?
One of the few times something was explained well on the internet ...........beautiful explanation
When I try to connect my Pi to VNC viewer I keep getting an error saying I need to select my encryption parameter to a weaker level or update VNC server. Nothing I've tried worked though...
thanks brother, worked like a charm
Super helpful video! Thanks a lot!!
Thank you Ben. It was super helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Spot on Sir. Got me going on my Pi.
Very useful and you won my sub!
Given that the software is forever free, Which i do not know if it is or not, but I assume it is, thank you
Getting the following error when trying on my mac:
connect to host raspberrypi port 22: Connection refused
Maybe people will stop complaining about zooming in now XD good stuff
Oh man I hope so
Thank you. Im a newby and have got my Pi working with a connected screen etc but haven't tried remove access yet. I was intending too but found the pi runs like a dog, takes ages to load up google for example so I hate to think what it would be like running under VNC, even if its no better it still would be unusable in my opinion. Is this an issue with pi running a GUI?
thanks that was straight forward, can you set up the pi headless again using kali linux please
I think Kali might be an option you can choose in the imager tool
@@LazyTech825 I know that but I can't ssh into it when I use kali OS seems like it's not connecting to the wifi even after setting up the wlan and enabling the ssh in the raspberrypi imager
or say partial sucess laptop keyboard is not typing on the raspberry pi interface while mouse does
Hey thanks for this, I wanted to ask if we can install tiktok or mobile tiktok app or any mobile app like insta on it and how? Thanks!
would this work to connect to the pi or could you connect to the pi right from the command line on another internet or how would you
Hey man good job, thanks for the tutorial, cab you also add a part how to connect it remotely via internet? Not local? I want to use 4g usb modem on it. Thanks
did you get to know how to connect through cloud?
Hey Ben. This is very helpful! Thank you so much. Would a program run remotely on the Pi if I minimize or close the VNC server? I am just curious before experimenting
Yes you can!
@@LazyTech825 I am having a problem connecting to the pi through ssh. I suspect that the Wifi is not actually established since this particular wifi, when connected, requires some action in a popped up window. I wonder if this is the reason why I cannot establish the connection, or it is because that I have a macbook and the commands are different?
so quick question ben greenfield. does this also work with a rasberry pi 3 model B+ or just pi 3?
Hey Ben, so helpful video. I’m at the terminal and I’m tyiping in the password after I’ve entered the username but it keeps saying password denied. What am I doing wrong?
Can you say how to give the cloud connect? and how can the raspberry pi be operated from anywhere in the world.
Hi ben. it is possible to do that without using router or wifi, just ethernet cable with the both end of the ethernet cable are connected to pi and the other into your pc?
Excellent effort - thank you
How to use my laptop s GPU when my rasberry can't handle some heavy work
when I follow all the instructions, VNC server Icon is not showing up on my taskbar and therefore im not quite sure what to do next...any suggestions? VNC and SSH is enabled
Thanks man it works!!
Keep up the awesome work!
Thank you good sir!
Is that setting comes only for raspberryos ??
Very helpful but I learned mac book airs need an adapter for reading ssd cards
There is no sound on the VNC. How can I get the sound from my pi but listen on the VNC? Please kindly advise.
all its doing is saying access denied everytime i type my password (1234) or (abcd) please help
What if I want to use ubuntu terminal instead of command prompt?
even though i have booted my raspberry pi after the flashing the micro sd card its still not connecting, showing host not found
Any help is much appreciated.
thanks.
im having the same problem
yeah me too
did something worked for you?
Hiiii nice video buddy! One question, do you think this should work without setting up the wireless but connecting the RasPi 5 to a LAN Ethernet cable? Because I already set up the microSD without the WiFi and I was thinking of putting it but I recall I'm at the University and it needs your student password, I'm trying not to put personal info on the RasPi5 as it's going to be used in a project, I'm just setting it up and doing some stuff with a RasPi Camera module. So, please let me know your thoughts on this. Right now I tried the SSH and is not working with my console in the same network.
Edit: I just realized of my comment is not at all correct, the RasPi needs the password of the network to get into it so it will still be useless with the LAN :((
2:58 actually is laggy, it happened to me with the time zones, so it's on the software part that is not well done on the scroll bar, we need to put a feedback on RasPi developers ;))
8:02 I thought the account was mandatory XD you scared me there!!! BTW viewers you don't need it for the connection, just use the software and that's it!! :)) I have no money to pay for that thing XD
8:44 Thanks God for me it worked at the first try!!! And is good because when I searched for the VNC Resolution I didn't find it, I have the first 2 options D2 D4 not D5 D6 XD so ufffff :))
Thanks that helped a lot!!
I got and error that says, "Error writing to storage". How can I fix this? It's very frustrating. I've tried different micro sd cards and different computers
Is this when you are using the imager tool? You can try launching the imager as an administrator, it’s probably an access error (which I agree is very frustrating)
@@LazyTech825 Yes, I'm using the imager tool. I'm on a Mac. I think it just worked though. I had to quit the application a couple times and try again. I have Raspberry pi 3
@@LazyTech825 Just got ssh working again. Thank you!
Glad it all worked out!!! (PS if you have suggestions for more raspberry pi related themes I’d be happy to look into it lolol)
@@LazyTech825 pihole is great if you haven't done a video on it yet, setting up your own website, VPN, twingate, or zerotier with raspberry pi. Those are some ideas :)
thanks you ben bruh you are life saver
Hi, the vnc software isn't free right?
Nah dude...and thats the saddest part...its easy to setup but its not free. Could you recommend any free alternatives? Like tightvnc or something else?
It is free
thank you very much for sharing this video
VNC error "timed out waiting for a response from the computer" how to fix?
Great Video,
Thanks
Thanks alot, Def earned my sub 😊👍
Thanks for the sub!
what happens if you put a country code different from where you are connecting to?
I assume it messes up the time zone and probably other minor things
hi ben, my pi doesn't read the SD card (the green light doesn't blink)
any solutions to that ?
i used a new sd card and also flashed it properly but still it doesn't read it
What pi and what os are you trying to use? Hardware like the pi zero sometimes needs the 32bit version of the operating system
@@LazyTech825 it's a raspberry pi 4 model b
And the default x64 bit os
What about remote access from another network?
They are charging now... at VNC
ben why are you ignoring the comments who encountered problems? I have same problem, unable to connect to vnc server using your chosen security setting, and I changed the security setting to many different ones but none helped, please help
What about if the installed OS in raspi is UBUNTU 22.04 is it the same step? Thank you!
It should be very similar
thx for sharing on GUI using vnc
It is not working for raspberrypi 3 B model, can you tell me how can i do headlesss setup for raspberrypi 3 B model
hi, my raspberry model is 3 B+ and ı do same thing in the video so its work .actually same step which step is problem for your system? is it cmd ?
Hi, Just wondering if you do freelance work un upwork or fiver?
I don't, but maybe I should??
Good pro 🎉❤
hi @Arth X I am working on the same project can u help me??
yes yes am in ??? your the best 👍👍 thanks
Nice Tutorial!
How do I do if I can't login? It does seem to want my password.
I tried the standard settings (pi and raspberry), as well as changing it the way it is done in the tutorial.
Any help by any chance? What am I doing wrong?
Cheers!
Yo I had the same problem, not sure why, I believe its because these videos don't show you how to configure the wifi.
THANK YOU BRO
I want to monitor raspberry pi through vnc viewer in which raspberry pi is connected without using wifi which means I am using gsm module which is sim slot and it is connected through mobile network
Anyone please help me
Thank You so much, you save me
How do I upload code to the pi?
Multiple ways! You could use GitHub, flash drive, ssh, vnc, etc.. I have a video on my channel on how to transfer files to the raspi remotely!
nice tutorial!
Thank you! Cheers!
Since bookworm there is Raspberry Pi Connect...
good stuff
Ben i need ur help
Lol i was trying pi@raspberrypi the whole time
though my username was not "pi"
Thanks a lot for clearing the confusion.
Thank you.
Why is this so different for me?
I need ur help
thanks a lot
Awesome!!!
I can´t type in the password pls help
When you type it nothing is appear right? That because it is a password so they hide it you can write it and press enter normally.
I just nomachine'd into my Rpi
bricked another sd card with the great imager sucks they have to be fat32
You should be able to reformat the sd card again if something goes wrong
👄
Thank you very much Ben! This video was super useful
