  • My 2002 BMW E46 330i leaks coolant. I knew that when I bought it at almost 189,000 miles. He said, as long as you top it off with water and coolant, it will run forever. Tall claim, but it has about 8000 more miles on it now by me and I think he was right. This is a runner for sure! I am tired of seeing that light come on on the dash, so I decided to check the problem. I got a radiator pressure test kit, and here you see me using it to find the radiator leak. It was quite easy really. Pump it up and look for fluid. About three minutes if you aren't filming a video as you do it. Turns out the seal to my expansion tank was leaking. Seems to be a common problem to have an E46 leaking coolant from the expansion tank.
I used the Evertough #67085 Radiator and cap test kit and the adapter set #67086. I "rented" them from AutoZone. They gave me my money back after using it.

    I ended up getting the BMW 17117573781 Coolant Reservoir Expansion Tank for E46, E83 & E53 - amzn.to/2F4KJfF

Thanks so much for making your video, I have a Toyota Camry but the directions that came with the kit from O’Reilly auto Parts part weren’t too clear, I had my adapter on but I put the top piece on with the pump and it wouldn’t pressurize I figured I had to rotate that cap but finally I figured it out leaving the top not raised up on the lip if that makes any sense? So that it would pressure up, found a leak quickly right in the top of the radiator fluid was shooting out.

glad it helped you! leaks are a real annoyance! I swapped a coolant hose today on my new BMW project car. Wasn't a bad one, but ugh.

need to pump it up the pressure marked on the cap. I think it is 20 psi.
