I notice that the fabric pocket suggested would have a raw edge in it. One way to avoid that would be to make a fabric tube, iron it so the seam was on an edge, edgestitch the long edges to keep both layers together, and then apply it to the bag.
I use buttons on the bottom of bags, and I place a second button on the inside sewing through both when applying. I sew them own very early in the construction when the bottom is flat as trying to sew them after the bag is finished can be a challenge.
I finally treated myself to an Annie Stiletto and now I use it ALL THE TIME!
