Air down the rear tire to 0-2 psi with Tubliss. You can triple the contact patch and float on top much easier. Also be aware that as ambient temperature rises throughout the day the snow gets progressively softer. Never drop in something you aren’t sure you can climb out of if you must return the way you have come. Early season route pioneering is challenging and rewarding, but not without risk. Nice video, and thanks for posting!
That's the biggest drawback to spring riding in the mountains; breaking trail through snow banks! For anyone uninitiated, it's like trying to ride a 300+ pound pogo-stick, (with a broken spring) through old snow (packed snow and ice, that has thawed and refrozen repeatedly). It's not too bad if it's not too deep (or extensive), or going up a hill. But if it is, it will wear you out faster than almost anything (short of really deep mud or quicksand). It's like many trials in life,,, you just have to embrace the suck! Good Video, THX!
Greg, you go to the most amazing places ever, the scenery is always heavenly...a riders dream world. Great riding as always... You need the Husky up on that trail!
Man I have got to say that these mountain trails have me super jealous. We have nothing like that to ride in Oklahoma. I do not like riding in "atv" parks, I want to go out and ride a trail and see some country......
That was definitely an adventure! I just have the pic in my head of when u were basically skiing down the mountain next to your bike! 😂 Dang that was tiring. Even tho we were tired, we made it down and pushed on another 20 miles or so. Damn good ride! Damn good memories!
Haven’t road in snow but I’m deep sand you gotta just stay on the throttle hard and keep your weight to the rear and keep momentum but all of these things can be tough to do if you have to slow down
I’m pissed you edited out the part where you admit KTMs are the best…yes only cause you needed help in deep snow but still, it counts! I can only assume you have a whole other video dedicated to that moment😂

I was not able to air down my mousse! lol.
keyboard rider!!! ⌨️
Problem is 4 strokes dig down and 2 strokes ride on top. I got stuck in silt a couple weeks ago on my 350.

Wait until you see the places I've got planned for this summer! Thanks for watching.
Looks fun! Been running into snow a few times myself. Looking forward to the full melt
You and me both!
That looks like quite the Adventure!

Sounds like it's time for a road trip!
Awesome! Way to stick with it!
Once we went down the first snowy hill we had no choice!
What bag is that you have behind your bars? Thanks.

Wish I had some 3rd person camera of the skiing!

I’m in Michigan,we didn’t have that much snow on the ground all winter. Looks like fun though, unless you get stuck lol.
Damn man thats a gnarly trail!
Looks like you went up the south side and down the north side nice riding!
Right at the end, someone should have said, "Oh yeah, by the way, this is an out and back." LOL Another great video Greg!
Ha ha, I might have punched them! Lol.
No way would have found another way home.
Try it with a trials tire sometime.
I mean not a huge surprise there is snow up there, still a great ride!
Find the way to the upper Pitt River hot springs ♨️👍
I tried to ride at 9K’ like two weeks ago like an idiot and it was too snowed in still. Gonna go back up and reattack in June.
9000' that's ambitious!
@@PNWEnduro New Mexico had been warm for weeks so I thought I was good 😂 Nope!
It was stressful just watching this. Not envious. Be safe.
Is the starter on that 4r good, Greg? It sounds terrible through the video.
Yeah it works fine, for a four stroke anyway.
How are you liking the 4t in the tighter, technical spots?
More than I thought I would, especially now I finally have the forks dialed in.
Why?
❤ wow
I always wonder when watching your clips - do you take any precaution against grizzly bear encounters?
No. Only came across a grizzly once. Lots of black bears but I’m not worried about them.
@@PNWEndurowhat about mountain lions?
@retrograde11 never. They are very illusive and if you do see one, you are in trouble.

Next weeks video "Top 10 reasons you should only buy orange bikes - you won't believe #7!"
Took your snow bike kit off a week early 😂
Thanks for not saying the location. Please please please be careful posting these clips I don’t want this place to get shut down, I love it too much
Yes I don’t post locations publicly. Totally get what you are saying.
I got nervous just watching... This type of riding is not for me
I got tired watching this!
