I know everyone raves about Paige Bueckers and of course she is a hell of a ball player, but I've been into WBB for over 20 years and she better hit the weight room hard in her off seasons as well as other aspects of her game because she has a long way to go. With her natural build it's going to be tough. I can think of dozens of college freshmen right now that could hold her scoreless and take her right out of her game, but of course she has another year to fix that. How many top 10 HS recruits over the years can we remember that just couldn't make that college transition, or it at least took them a couple years. Some of these players are on their 3rd college program and still not getting it done. Not always the players fault of course, but just as often it is. Scoring is fairly easy at this level as there is very little actual defense, and when you're the "star" you have the ball a lot. Who is moving well without the ball? From the dozen or so Hopkins games I seen in the last 2 years the player who really stands out to me providing they stay on their current trajectory is Taylor Woodson. She's young and already has good footwork to go along with a great frame and athleticism. I'm assuming she'll continue to grow as well too. She hustles, takes contact, and has a great knack for the ball which are things that are difficult if not near impossible to coach. If I was recruiting right now my focus would be all on her. I do wish them all the success in the world. I hope Paige can stick with it, fill in the gaps and be everything she wants to be. Lord knows UConn needs her and then some
Paige is already better than most D1 players. She would've been drafted 1 or 2 in this year's WNBA draft if they allowed younger players. She played with Collier and Jackie Young last summer in a 3 on 3 tourney and played at their level. Collier was the WNBA Rookie of the Year and Jackie Young was the number 1 player in the draft last year. Paige, I agree, will need to bulk up, will be a beast in college. She's already played against all the top players from Baylor, South Carolina, Louisville, N Dame, ect in international and national AAU games and was the MVP in the latest 19 and under tourney. She's already better than both Diana Taurasi and Maya Moore if u are comparing all 3 when they were 18.
ToddtheWadd Paige does have some holes that she needs to fill in, like bulking up but so does everyone. But Paige is just a different breed, she has skills that are really hard to teach. I’m not sure if your trying to compare the two cause I feel like you can’t really compare them and to be honest Woodson is really good the whole team is but she has lots of wholes also like the fact that she has no handles. If it was me I would be looking a Amaya battle she can shoot from in and out, play good D , gets steals and can handle the ball nicely.
@@ilovihy107 You are absolutely right and I agree with everything you said. Everyone has holes to fill and having the skills that cant be taught is the biggest thing. Unfortunately the games I watched, Battle was either hurt or just recovering so I did not did not evaluate her game in any way. Anyone who plays defense and rebounds hard at this level always gets my attention because very few kids even make the attempt. When I saw Paige playing international ball I noticed she was a lot less aggressive and confident than most of her teammates and opponents. I think she was a little younger than the rest of the team though and still played well and filled her role well enough. She just didn't want to keep her hands up. I'm nitpicking here because people are already comparing her to Maya and Stewie in terms of impact on the game, but due to her very slight build being hesitant and not aggressive is going to make things rough on her. And almost all HS kids and freshman struggle with keeping their hands up so that's probably not going to be an issue. It's actually Geno who worries me more that Paige does.
Can number 3 pull her shorts down she has rolled them up 3 times and pulled them up at the bottom it’s actually annoying but if a boy rolls his shorts up once they get sent
Honestly Paige was kind of annoying me she seems like she thinks she’s better than everyone and she argues with the refs it’s really annoying. I mean I’m sure she’s nice but.
the fuck are you on? she is better then everyone and she’s the most humble person out there. the refs are horrible everyone’s arguing with them and this was in high school how is she even being annoying by ‘seeming to be better then everyone’ that’s the dumbest sentence i’ve ever heard
