I’ve never routinely worn make up, but am beginning to feel the need to look less like I’ve been exhumed so this was helpful. One of my problems is hooded eyes/excess skin so that lids aren’t visible ; you’re lucky to have so much room for eyeshadow!
Agree, the sagging skin on eyes is what we all seem to end up dealing with. My mum had surgery, because hers was so bad, it made it difficult to see/open eyes properly....it was a good option for her, but 2 big black eyes for 6weeks!!
Hello Dez and thanks for a very interesting vlog. I love your honest approach to the problems some of us have with make up as we age. You don’t shy away from showing us your “naked” face and your demonstration and hints are very helpful. Much love xx
Lovely 💞 💞💞💞💞💞 I recently turned 60 along with my skin and former makeup routine. I literally put everything in my cart from your video. This was exactly what I needed. Thank you. You're absolutely beautiful.
I'm visiting my daughter in Northern California and catching up with vids over coffee. What a beautiful, classic look...and so easy and affordable! I very often skip bronzer as well...especially in the winter. xoxo ❤
I love your videos! I learn so much from you, too. I'm 58 and I'm navigating all of the changes going on with skin, hair, body, etc. You are beautiful and are so inspiring to me! Love from NYC
I agree, I didn't go through menopause until 58/59...finished by 60, hot sweats and chopped my hair off, as it was constantly wet from the sweats, and suddenly my skin went from oily to dry...from being able to abuse and neglect it, to now having day cream, night cream, eye cream....😂😂😂 but the creams are absolutely necessary, I have used Olay, L'Oréal and a fancy brand that is so expensive I only buy on special and I can't remember the brand, but the other 2 have been on skin specialists recommended lists. It's a suprise to suddenly realise 'you're old!' It happens overnight!! And suddenly you need make-up to bring colour to your face... I've worn make-up more since 60 than the rest of my life!!
That is really good advice regarding eyebrows I'm 55yrs old salt and pepper now, wearing the powder version makes such a difference I've also changed my shade from the colour I'd been wearing most of my life, now my eyebrows looks alot more softer, thank you. And may I say, you look fabulous!🙂 Have a great weekend.
Hey Dez. I tried the Huda primer which I got on the Sephora sale. It didnt work for me, I returned it. I have one crows foot on the right eye and it didnt stop the Elf soft glam foundation (I bought that after I watched your video on it, I quite like it) from creasing there. I wanted to recommend NYX BARE WITH ME moisturizing cream primer to you. I use it during the winter months in Canada, when I need more moisture on my 70 year old skin. It works quite well. I also ordered HOURGLASS liquid blush in the color whim. I saw Wayne Goss video on it and it looks very nice, like a nice natural blush to the cheeks. I have never tried a liquid blush, so we will see how that works for me. Your hair looks nice curled. Eva
Oh no, what shame about the primer. But thanks for the recommendation on the NYX - I'll add that to my list. I've also rediscovered the Smashbox primer which I've used in an upcoming video. Hope you like the liquid blush - and thanks re hair - going for a trim tomorrow 😊❤️
Eyelash curlers are slightly different lengths and curves/shapes.... and the best brand is simply the one that is the best shape for your own eye..similar curve, etc ...👍👍
@@beautybydez I'm in the process of growing out my pixie cut, and your fringe inspired me to cut one, too. 😉I wore a fringe for many years in the Olden Days, and I'd missed it.
Afternoon Dez I agree I just use my fingers under my eyes The Elf is a lovely product & a good price for a everyday use I’ve also been doing a one & done for everyday with a tad of liner mascara & blush ❤
I’m not a beginner at all, but I like watching makeup videos. You looked so different with the lipstick. I think most people do. I know it’s something I always use. I might skip mascara but never lipstick or tinted balm. I was influenced by you to look at Victoria Beckham makeup yesterday because of the reduction. I’ve bought too many things!
You look lovely, and thanks for sharing your techniques. I have a tip for curling your lashes so they actually stay curled all day. Gently warm the curler using your blow dryer and it behaves rather like a curling iron-though don’t get it hot enough to burn! I’ll have to give the ELF foundation a try. I used foundation all my adult life but now that I’m in my 60s, it just seems to sit on top of my skin very visibly, so I’ve resorted to tinted SPF. Thank you again, I’m a recent follower and am very much enjoying your videos.
Well, in Wednesday's video there will be a bit of that, but I will also do a sort of Sephora haul in teh next couple of weeks which include all that I bought there ❤️
thank you for your wonderful videos 🥰 I'm not new to makeup but I always love your tips and tricks for my 65 year old skin. lots of love from south Florida xoxo 🏖
This is such a helpful video Dez. I don't wear much makeup but coming up to 70 myself your videos are giving me the confidence to play a little and I've had some great compliments recently. This is now my go to video. Thank you so much. I just need the Elf illuminator now 😅
Lovely look and should be easy for newbies! Used the FITme powder for years before I found the Charlotte Tilbury - but have to say, my previous CT compact lasted for almost 2 years - yet this new one, purchased in September, has already developed a huge dent, and should hit pan within days. Just another way we are being ripped off (smaller quantity of product for the same price). You don't see the lash lift offered as much here in the US - hadn't even heard of it until Anna Newton talked of it. However, I have never applied mascara without curling my lashes first, and I do think the type of curler is important. Even if I'm not wearing makeup I still curl my lashes. Many curlers are shaped for different eye shapes, and the Rephr one comes in two sizes. I personally believe the Shu Uemura to be the best, followed by Surratt and Rephr. I find that a lash primer makes my mascara clump - maybe not using the right one.
Isnt that interesting, about the lash lift - I very first heard about it from Lisa Eldridge years ago - i fact I used to go the salon she recommended, then it closed down and I forgot about it - I even had lash extensions for a while 😱. My lashes are impossible without a lash serum and lift. I used to have the Shu Uemura's I think. And on lash primer - Wednesday's vid has one 😉❤️
I love you eyelids. You can wear such glorious colors and they always show up. Mine are hidden by my eyelids. Maybe mobile lids mean that they open and shut as opposed to???? I always enjoy your videos. 👍
Really enjoyed watching this Dez. I am 73 and have a love/hate relationship with make up😂 I do wear it but my sparse over plucked eyebrows give me nightmares! I either overdo them and look like a clown or don’t bother. So this was a really interesting watch and I have learned a lot from you. Thank you ❤
Oh no! I've listed reasonably priced skincare in the pinned comment and in the description box. Also try this go.shopmy.us/p-8784471 - the Purito night cream - it has worked well for me. The Olay in the red and the one in the Purple jars are excellent and not OTT prices at chemist, and I've seen them listed on skin professionals recommendations, and I use them and really believe they work. 👍👍 it's trial and error for what suits your own skin though.
