It makes me sad that they were so quick to react with anger when they saw Spice at her photo shoot. And when she explained that she was making it a point to call attention to the colorism that dark-skinned women go through, they didn’t even TRY to understand or be sympathetic. Thank God that Spice is a secure, strong woman who KNOWS her worth and her beauty, because their reaction could’ve really impacted her in a negative way. Because not even her friends tried to understand her.
She was going to legit bleach her skin, they understand her struggle anyone with compassion can, but bleaching is absolutely not ok. I’m a black women my self, the were trying to talk her out of something that is life change most of the women who do It and regret it, there are so many health problems and things that can go wrong, I think the situation blew out of proportions.
@@trinityridenhour3416 fake morality, their too light to recognize colorism and they were gaslighting her talking points and invalidating her experience as a DSBW. Blind to their privilege and their place in the black heirarchy just like white folks that deny racism and preach post racial solidarity. It's all bullshit. They wanted to silence her and she didn't allow it. Kudos to her. DSBW have no allies in women like this.
I love Spice and Tokyo friendship. They treat each other like they sisters and even when they have issues they always resolve them and go back to being Tokyo and Spice. And I like how Tokyo didn't really judge spice with the skin bleaching.
Spice is gorgeous the way she is . That's what's wrong with the industry they always wana change your look . New ass new skin, new face new clothes it's truly sickening the way the industry makes these women feel insecure when they need to stay the way they are and love themselves. I appreciate you spice for doing what you did and staying true to yourself
Self love & self security is so damn important 🧘🏻♀️ when you truly know who you are, you won’t concern yourself with the brain washed, corrupted society views of the public whatsoever. I wish more healing for people because people don’t need all of that extra shit.
@Melissa Diamond I've always understood why Kim did that. The sad thing is that it's mostly black people who talk about her. Look at what Missy had to go through. Half of the darker brown girls bleached their skin. Like Beyoncé, Ciara, and Nicki. So people who don't act like they see it are in denial. And I'm light skinned and see it.
@Melissa DiamondI don’t think they came at her like that because they don’t understand just because they are a lighter skin complexion I think they came at her the way they did to get her to understand that bleaching your skin because of the way society talks down on dark skin women isn’t bringing awareness to anything . Giving society what they want isn’t empowerment it’s a form of weakness , embracing your darkskin is empowering showing other darkskin women or girls that they can embrace there darkskin is empowering , not letting society take control and bleaching your skin to give society what they want.
And I’m not saying darkskin women don’t struggle because although I’m not darkskin I’ve witnessed Colorism towards darker skin women I’m just saying that bleaching isnt the way to bring awareness
You don’t make sense! They did understand her but they were trying to tell her she didn’t need to bleach her skin to bring awareness to the situation. If that was anyone else that was dark they would’ve been “cancelled.” Keep that same energy with everyone!
@@iamaprilparish ok first of all she didn’t actually bleach her skin it was a CONCEPT PHOTO for her so which is called BLACK HYPOCRISY which talks about the colorism darkskin women face. I do make sense bc instead of understanding Mimi was yelling at her and even in her confessionals and in the scene itself she constantly shows that didn’t truly understand why Spice did what she did, she just didn’t want her to do it. Like Spice said she dissent understand bc she is a lightskin women. Idk wym by keep the same energy bc i am a darkskin women and i fully understand what it was the she was trying to do so if it was anyone else i would have understood. Maybe there’s a reason as to why YOU don’t understand🌚
People are sooo foolish its about showing how women are being treated as a black woman. Not actually bleaching her skin. She is portraying herself as a white woman in the video to show this is what Hollywood wants us to do in order to become successful in their eyes and it's the weaker ones that fall for the trap lol.
As a Trinidadian I can assure you that she is the definition of a hard working and mature woman of the Caribbean, one must never mock a countries accent, she is a depiction of the natural beauty in the Caribbean whether big, small or medium we don't necessarily body shame down here not even the men, so I can understand why she didn't know. And everyone please remember to love yourself for the way you are before changing anything about yourself, don't listen to others and know that God loves you. Big up TT 👌
I grew up in Jamaica people do body shame caz dem used to call me chubby before the chubby soft drinks come out. The thing about it, it's not looked at as body shaming but as a way of running jokes. The mindset if the people just take it as jokes or pet name. Come to the states with that iish everyone is hyper sensitive.
@@CapreDiem42 your right but half of the time, it's used as an identifying marker. Because truth be told girl, we all know Caribbean ppl love all body types. @@khevalishimaka7744 Exactly, to me she's already a big artist. I'm from UK & she's known well here, been a fan for over a decade. She never needed to step onto this show.
Spice turning white to show what a lot of us black girls go through everyday was a big thing & I respect her so much for spreading awareness on our behalf 🖤🖤🙌🏾
Akbar is talking about she's the queen of Atlanta and starting all this kind of drama when she should be worrying about getting all her kids under her roof. And if ur the Queen of Atlanta then u should welcome the competition that the other ladies bring and get on that stage to show them that ur the queen of Atlanta instead of trying to fight with every damn body
Akbar, for the most part, has seen her parental rights terminated, with her behavior. No family court's gonna give her kids back to her. It's sad, but I think her kids are better off with family/foster care. Anywhere or anyone but their breeder.
Spice had a point about colorism, my momma had 5 girls. Me being light skin with hazel eyes and some of my sisters being darker skin with dark brown eyes. I see the difference in how black people in my community look at us. Colorism is real, so I feel what Spice saying. At the same time, as I’ve told my sisters. Stand up as yourself and make sure people see you as yourself and always be the best that you can be.
She needed the show to let America know who she is & let them know she's a powerhouse artist across the rest of the world.. You saw that tiny ass venue she performed in.
As someone from the Caribbean, I can tell you that it doesn't matter which island you're from we all understand each other's accents somehow😂😂 and the interactions between them from 21:34 - 24:22 are some of the realist I've seen on reality TV.🇹🇹
I'm so sick of men, especially industry men telling talented women what they should look like. Not everyone is built the same ! There is Beyonce , Lizzo , and Keke Wyatt. None are the same , but they are talented. Spice as a darker skinned woman deserves all the success !

Having followed Spice for years and knowing that she loves her skin color I don’t think she meant she was going to bleach her skin. I only think this because one MiMi and Rahsheeda were coming at her hard. They wouldn’t even allow her to explain nor did they care to see her point of view in that scene.
Thank you for understanding
Yes!!! Mimi got all upset and defensive...girl bye!

How won’t we understand??
And I’m not saying darkskin women don’t struggle because although I’m not darkskin I’ve witnessed Colorism towards darker skin women I’m just saying that bleaching isnt the way to bring awareness
bro it made me so mad that they weren’t understanding her point w the colorism thing and that speaks volumes to me
Exactly and then Mimi was trying to justify why she got her breast done
Big up TT 👌
Yes big up Trinidad we the bomb 💣 yassss
I grew up in Jamaica people do body shame caz dem used to call me chubby before the chubby soft drinks come out. The thing about it, it's not looked at as body shaming but as a way of running jokes. The mindset if the people just take it as jokes or pet name. Come to the states with that iish everyone is hyper sensitive.

@@kaceyhartling1422

Having followed Spice for years and knowing that she loves her skin color I don’t think she meant she was going to bleach her skin. I only think this because one MiMi and Rahsheeda were coming at her hard. They wouldn’t even allow her to explain nor did they care to see her point of view in that scene.
