That's very interesting. Jack the Ripper is such a fascinating topic. I have often wondered if there have been any reported hauntings/ghosts of/by the Ripper's victims.
What an interesting piece of information Dave, thank you for sharing it. Would you believe it but back in the 1950s, my late Dad was one of the thousands of Irish navvies living in London. He lived in a boarding house in Cricklewood with a whole bunch of other Irish lads, said house run by "Mammy Walker"....an Armenian lady who had married a gentleman from London named Walker. Anyway, Mr Walker was originally from Bethnal Green and his Dad, Mr Walker Snr, lived in the house as well. He often chatted over a cup of tea and a cigarette with my Dad. Anyway, it seems that old Mr Walker could remember living in the east end during the Autumn of Terror and could vividly recall the period....even remembering seeing the remains of one of the Ripper victims being taken away. In the late seventies and early eighties I was train crew on the Piccadilly Line. At that time Covent Garden station was closed on Sundays but the signalling caused trains to slow down but not stop. The standing instruction to guards was that they must not open any doors, not even their own. One of my colleagues was asked if he knew why we weren't allowed to open the guard's door. When he said he didn't he was told it was in case the guard dragged one of out. He went very, very pale. 🤣🤣🤣
I always feel uncomfortable going to the London tube. It’s too deep, making it warm and suffocating for me. Smells bad generally, which is expected considering the volume of people using it everyday and not much way to fresh air. It feels and smells like being inside a toilet to be honest. But it’s too important to the city’s transportation.
Hello Stephen, welcome to the channel. My brother has done some work in the past on the tube but some of these stories came from TFL folks and people like your good self who had relatives employed many years ago. It’s quite amazing because they don’t want to be regarded as unprofessional or under the influence as such when they report such incidents for fear of losing their jobs right? So I suspect there are many more tales lurking behind the scenes 👻🤔
Wow, that was fantastic. Your narration is wonderful, so relaxing and the stories very interesting indeed. Great work; thank you Nicola. Cheers and take care. Neil 👍

Wouldn't you just love to go to parts of stations that have been bricked up or locked for many years. I always look for doors and gates when on the underground. Great videos. Has anyone watched the program which was on tv a few years ago. It's on youtube called ghosts of the Underground. Workers tell there stories, some have never met each other but have had same experiences. It actually scared me watching it
Really interesting stories, well done you, pretty scary empty underground stations, what gives me the eebie jeebies is empty theatres, have worked in a few in the past in glasgow, no likey, scary atmosphere, great work again, cheers
Glad you enjoyed it and I think I’ll do a video on haunted theatres as there are so many stories. Thank you so much Robert as ever for your kind words and encouragement 🙋♀️👻
Some sad tales, especially the Sullivan children, poor souls. That was interesting about the man in overalls and being seen on the cctv...would have loved to have seen that...I think...lol...Great video, thanks so much for your diligent work. Look forward to more when you are ready.
Excellent videos very professionally made.. The underground is truly an awful place when you think about it.. all the horror of its history, glossed over with those white tiles and blanched by bright lights.
One could say of the ghostly girl at Elephant and Castle station that she always gets on (the train), but never gets off ! Excellent video, very well produced and presented !
I really enjoyed this! Thank you Nicola for another brilliant video - they get better and better with every new upload! Covent Garden is said to be haunted by the murdered actor William Terriss…..perhaps you could do a part 2?!?

I truly love the London Underground, or "Tube" as it is also called from the tube like tunnels. The Underground is fascinating in many ways, from the old historical stations like Baker Street station, to the trains and the distinct atmosphere one gets - only not during the rush hours, to be avoided if possible ! 😊
You have a great program, and you've taken a lot of time with it. I do hope you get enough views to make to worth continuing as UA-cam has so much crap.
Liked and Subscribed. Thank you for posting, Always wondered about the amount of activity surrounding the tube. Traveling to London later this year and may have to spend time at some of these locations.
Hi, I’m absolutely loving your stories about the ghosts/spirits, and you mention Bedlam, I’m in Australia and I thought that in England you have or had a hospital that’s actual name was Bedlam, and not just a nickname. Please feel free to correct me if I’m incorrect
Hi Geraldine and thank you. I had a look and Bedlem was the nickname for Bethlehem Royal Hospital and I’ve just copied and pasted this little snippet for you. I’m so pleased you’re enjoying the videos 👻🙋♀️ From Bedlam, alternative name of the English lunatic asylum, Bethlem Royal Hospital (royal hospital from 1375, mental hospital from 1403) (earlier St Mary of Bethlehem outside Bishopsgate, hospice in existence from 1329, priory established 1247), since used to mean “a place or situation of madness and chaos”. Bedlam as name of hospital attested 1450.
Hiya Nicola, my sister was at the top of the stairs talking, this was about 2.30 in the morning, Mam was wide awake, mam appeared at the door, Mam said to Leanne "Who are you talking too" Leanne replied "The old lady at the top of the stairs" when Mam appeared the ghost disappeared "Leanne said "the old lady says she'll knit Dad some socks for work", The Ghost was wearing a Winceyette, like what Kate Bush wore in the Wuthering Heights video, this is Paul in Whitehaven, Cumberland, England
I really love all this sort of stuff I am an amateur photographer and have spent a lot of time photographing the London underground Can you please tell me what passenger tunnel is used for the title screen I would like to capture this composition for myself Many thanks in advance

Thanks for all your wonderful ghost stories. Wondering if you could research a ghost story about my distant cousin, Lord Dufferin (Frederick Temple Blackwood). He was the 3rd Governor of Canada (1872 - 1878), and the 8th Viceroy of India (1884 to 1888) that was appointed by Queen Victoria. The ghost story is in books and on the internet. It is set in Ireland and moves to France for the ending. Thanks!
I do know the story but I haven’t found a great deal on it. His story appears very briefly in a tiny video I made on an Usborne book, right back at the beginning where I show the page with the man carrying a coffin 👻🙋♀️
@@ghostcasebook1266 Thanks very much. I missed seeing that video. That is the story I have heard. When I was a teenager, I was at a horse riding camp and a girl brought a ghost book to the hay loft. I was totally shocked when she started reading that exact story. The hair salon I go to in Canada is haunted. The building was built in the late 1800's. My stylist has seen and heard the ghost.
A fantastic video in every way.. from the stories (some of which I knew and some i did not) to the photographs chosen to be used Those little children at Aldgate though :( Do you think that perhaps the station is where their Home once stood ?
Interesting stories. I would assume that by now there would be loads of video footage and photographs taken with mobile phones of these incidents. Also, CCTV now is better quality so should be able to record all kinds of things. The incident about the person alone on the train with a supposed person next to them that only shows up in the reflection should be easy to record.
That's easily explained to differentiate between those who want to leave the underground and exit onto the ground street level and those who are transferring to a different line connection underground.
I love your videos and your voice .... i would love to meet you as you interests are very similar to my own. So If you are ever in Covent Garden area and fancy a coffee i am your guy :-) .... btw Daniel Defoe was mistaken, my neighbourhood of St Giles was worst affected by the plague of 1665 as i have looked at the bills of mortality and in addition to that ,the very first recorded case was just off Drury Lane as far as i am lead to believe . Really love these videos though ! So well made and narrated ! Have you ever done a video on Berkley Square Mayfair and the 'most haunted house in London .... i is quite a thing to read about. I stood outside it and it genuinely gave me an intuitively bad feel even in 2023. Worth considering !
Hello James and thank you so much for your comment. I suspect that Defoe’s comment was his opinion at the time and subsequent parish records after the fact and documents might very well indicate that other areas were hit harder. I’ve not covered 50 Berkeley square yet but I might add it to my list 🙋♀️👻
Hi Neil yes there are some other stations that I might cover, including Aldwych and also some transport hubs that are not the underground might find their way into a sequel 👻🙋♀️
I don't believe in ghosts as there is absolutely zero definitive falsifiable evidence for either ghosts or souls but this was interesting and I enjoyed watching as I enjoy a good ghost story, thanks for posting.

Regarding St. Botolph's church, you misspoke. It's Botolph, not Boltoph. Sidenote: you know Boston, up by the coast in east Mercia? It's named for him. It was originally St. Botolph's Town, later Botolphston, then that got Anglo-Butchered to Boffston, then Boston.
The ghost of the woman at Aldgate healed the man on the third rail so maybe she was a Saint or a Healer we could look up from the time of the plague perhaps.
My son and I stayed at a hotel 1 short block from Aldgate station. In the morning we took the Tube. I got a definite creepy feeling at this station - didn't want to stay there any longer than I had to. A strange and prominent thought entered my head as I waited for the train on this sunny morning: "Jump! jump!" (onto the tracks). Those were NOT my thoughts. I wondered where they were coming from as I looked around. It was if I could almost see spirits around the station. I am not usually interested in ghost stories - not my thing. I had not heard of any of this. When I came back home to the US, I Googled the history of this station.
What I wonder is why no priest or bishop from area parish churches have not gone and blessed these stations to send these poor souls Home? I don't know if the Anglican Church has a service for blessing structures, but the Episcopal Church here in the U.S. does. Since the Book of Common Prayer has a prayer or collect for just about anything, I think that it's worth a try. Even a deacon could do it.
This is actually when I was in London in 2017. I did not expect these feelings and sensations that there were many souls (ghosts)on the streets and underground in the metro. It was a very strange feeling, a feeling that people had been killed especially women killed for unknown reasons., and I felt ghosts when I went on the streets.
👻🚇I find this topic especially intriguing and have watched "Ghosts of the Underground" (BBC? c. 2005) more times than I can remember. I appreciate your research and presentation. Now I have a new video to watch repeatedly. I enjoy your narration and look forward to future uploads! ❤from🗽(Off the northernmost stop on the #1 train.)
Speaking from a Christian Worldview, I find difficulty in attributing these sightings to deceased human beings still walking the earth. Great content and narration nonetheless. Coming from Texas, it is incredible to hear things like "the plague pit was dug up in the construction of the train station...and below the cemetery is the Roman Road." Things here aren't older than the 1850s at the earliest. And indian burial grounds aren't as common as the movies make them out to be. I can't imagine how agonizing it is to live in a place where history steps on older history and then both are bulldozed!
Thank you so much and I appreciate your perspective here. I understand about the contrast between UK history and the history in your location but I must admit I find the history of North America fascinating too! I hope you’ll enjoy some of the other videos on the channel too and I have plans to cover some stories from abroad too 👻🙋♀️
It means that one Fire Alarm has been activated, if it’s hasn’t been acknowledged within a certain time period, the station will go into evacuation mode.
@@mehchocolate1257it’s what it sounds like. A ghost or paranormal event associated with a disaster of some kind, either a mass disaster as in the many reported premonitions recorded before the disaster at Aberfan in Wales, or individual cases like phone calls made from a person in an accident that were proven to be made after they had died, or a sighting of someone who unknown to the viewer, has died.
Listening to the information about Jack the Ripper and the removal of vital organs with medical precision makes you think that the person must have been some kind of health professional either by trade or training.
Hi Neil it definitely sounds like they know anatomy well. From what I’ve read there were many butchers in the area and it wouldn’t be uncommon to see people covered in blood from their trade. But there are specialists and Ripperologists (don’t t like that word tbh) who say the speed and accuracy of the murderer might be somewhat more skilled than a commercial butcher. Not nice!
I asked my partner one night about that issue with Jack the Ripper. She pointed out in order to reach such a vital organ takes time, skill and an understanding of human anatomy in order to navigate the countless circulatory branches. Jack may have been a physician trained in pathology.
In 1976, I had the privilege of being in London for two weeks. I had just turned 20. I got sick with a sinus infection the second day, but the first I was able to roam around. I took the underground and had just rushed into the car midday, last minute. I threw myself into my seat and we took off. I began to look around and realized I was the only one on the car. I also realized that this car was not your usual, at least not for me. It was a bench seat, upholstered in a rough type of velveteen, stuffed with horsehair and wooden bits instead of plastic or metal. It was certainly old, older than me. I didn't know much English history then and it was later on that I recognized it must be Victorian. No, no ghost story. I didn't see the car again, just for that ride, but I was happy that I was able to ride in a piece of working London history.
People rehash what Vic Tandy said trying to look smart to others to explain ghosts. Those of us who have seen them, heard them, felt them, seen objects move etc or do mediumship, know its not true what he said to try to explain them.
Like the Jack the Ripper reference. Dont accept the double event. Different killers. Likewise Mary Jane Kelly different killer. Folk used to report hearing Steam Trains on the Underground and considered it ghostly but they were in common use i believe into the dreary Seventies on the tube. Well not for passengers!
Chris did you ask me about Murder Casebook? I don’t think I can find your comment but the plan is to release 3 murder casebook videos in due course. In truth, I genuinely thought GC would not be very popular in the summer months and I thought I’d do the murder casebook videos instead, then resume the GC videos in the autumn, when people might be more interested on spooky tales. But I obviously got that prediction wrong and because GC videos are becoming a bit longer and more detailed, murder Casebook went on the back burner but I am working on it. The other thing is that I might put some videos on Ko-fi in time, a bit like Patreon, especially if the subject matter isn’t quite right for YT. for example, a video of some ghosts of very steep cliffs in Sussex with a reputation might sit better on Ko-fi than YT. 🙋♀️👻🙏

My Late Father worked on the Tube in the 1950s. I recall him telling me some of these stories.
Thank you Stephen. 👻🙋♀️
Neil 👍
Neil I might be wrong here but I’ve got a horrible feeling my cat might have just deleted your most recent comment and I apologise for this. She is a disaster around technology. I am so glad you enjoyed the stories, despite them being so sad. I always appreciate your feedback too, so thank you! Nicola 👻🙋♀️
@@ghostcasebook1266 Haha, I Luv cats, bless her. No apologies needed. My comment was merely a reply to your comment. Saying thank you and how incredibly hard life was for some folk in the 18/19th centuries.
Your videos are really so professional, I never fail to be impressed; thanx for entertaining us; your hard work is appreciated.
Looking forward to your next production.
Mind how you go.

You too Neil. Sorry about my cat but yes you’re right, the poverty, when you really find out the details is so sad. Thank you for you kind words as ever and so glad you enjoy the videos. I appreciate your time to comment too 🙋♀️🙋♀️🙏🫖

Absolutely excellent presentation as always..and such a beautiful voice 🌼
Many, many thanks Chris 👻🙋♀️
This is quickly becoming my new favourite UA-cam channel
Thank you so much Tone F, that’s so kind. I’m honoured 🙋♀️👻🙏
i love the history of the tube, and I love the paranormal. I really enjoyed this.
Thank you so much! I’m so pleased you liked the video and perhaps I will do a part 2 🙋♀️🙏
Moorgate is the best one !! People down there late a night say thay can hear the screams of people trapped in the 1975 crash .
this was really interesting.. I hope one day you may do some ghost tales from Suffolk
Hi Julie, yes I do. lots of interesting stories from Suffolk and the surrounding counties. 👻🙋♀️
I'm in Suffolk. We have plenty.
What a great channel. I'm in Suffolk and Liverpool Street is the station we arrive at when visiting. I'll listen out for the screaming woman next time. And maybe leave an old coin for the other lady.
Thank you Mike! I plan to do a Suffolk video at some point. One of my earlier hotels video had the Bildeston Crown. Liverpool Street station really has an interesting past. 👻🙋♀️
Thankyou love these ghosts stories, can’t wait for the next one,
More to come Sue, thank you so much 👻🙋♀️
Wouldn't you just love to go to parts of stations that have been bricked up or locked for many years. I always look for doors and gates when on the underground.
Great videos.
Has anyone watched the program which was on tv a few years ago. It's on youtube called ghosts of the Underground.
Workers tell there stories, some have never met each other but have had same experiences. It actually scared me watching it
Yes I’d love to tour the underground to see the hidden locations too! I have seen the channel 5 documentary. It was very good. 🙏👻
Really enjoyed this. Well presented and tales told with honesty.
Glad you enjoyed it Neil! Thank you so much 👻🙋♀️
It's So Sad the Loss of Lives and their Graves Disturbed to Build the Railways, Thanks for the Video Nicola Brilliant Work👏🚉
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you ever so much 👻🙏
Really interesting stories, well done you, pretty scary empty underground stations, what gives me the eebie jeebies is empty theatres, have worked in a few in the past in glasgow, no likey, scary atmosphere, great work again, cheers
I am sometimes a tourist in London, and I love going on the tube!
Your UA-cam are brilliant 👏 👌 love watching them x
Oh thank you so much! 👻🙏🙋♀️
Excellent videos very professionally made..
The underground is truly an awful place when you think about it.. all the horror of its history, glossed over with those white tiles and blanched by bright lights.
Thank you for your kind comment and I agree, there are sad layers of history in the underground 👻🙋♀️
I love mysterious channels like this. Just need to remember to watch it during the day and not before going to bed 😂
Thank you and welcome aboard! 👻🙋♀️🙏
Excellent video and narration thank you x
Many thanks Barry! 🙋♀️
One could say of the ghostly girl at Elephant and Castle station that she always gets on (the train), but never gets off !
Excellent video, very well produced and presented !
Yes indeed! Permanent passenger maybe? 🙋♀️👻
Thank you so much please keep them coming
More to come! Thank you so much 👻🙋♀️
Just discovered your channel. I subbed, and am really enjoying all your videos so far. Great work!
Thank you so much and welcome aboard! I only started the channel in the autumn last year so it’s still early days in a way 👻🙋♀️🙏
I really enjoyed this! Thank you Nicola for another brilliant video - they get better and better with every new upload! Covent Garden is said to be haunted by the murdered actor William Terriss…..perhaps you could do a part 2?!?
Hello and thank you Michelle. I plan to cover The Covent Garden haunting in a haunted theatres special so stay tuned 👻🙂. I’m so pleased you enjoyed the video. I think there might be a part 2!
Great! I look forward to that! 👍🏻
I truly love the London Underground, or "Tube" as it is also called from the tube like tunnels. The Underground is fascinating in many ways, from the old historical stations like Baker Street station, to the trains and the distinct atmosphere one gets - only not during the rush hours, to be avoided if possible ! 😊
Yes I love the tube too. It has such an interesting history and some really interesting stories 🙋♀️👻
4:28 - The Ripper sure had beautiful handwriting.
Thanks for subscribing Jason C and I a, so glad you’re going to have a look at some of these stations. Welcome to the channel! 🙏🙋♀️👻
I’m so pleased you’re enjoying the videos 👻🙋♀️
From Bedlam, alternative name of the English lunatic asylum, Bethlem Royal Hospital (royal hospital from 1375, mental hospital from 1403) (earlier St Mary of Bethlehem outside Bishopsgate, hospice in existence from 1329, priory established 1247), since used to mean “a place or situation of madness and chaos”. Bedlam as name of hospital attested 1450.
These are fascinating but troubling tales!
The Scariest Spector on the underground by far is Sadiq Khan
Hiya Nicola, my sister was at the top of the stairs talking, this was about 2.30 in the morning, Mam was wide awake, mam appeared at the door, Mam said to Leanne "Who are you talking too" Leanne replied "The old lady at the top of the stairs" when Mam appeared the ghost disappeared "Leanne said "the old lady says she'll knit Dad some socks for work", The Ghost was wearing a Winceyette, like what Kate Bush wore in the Wuthering Heights video, this is Paul in Whitehaven, Cumberland, England
Interesting episodes.... Tubes scare me anyway!...
Very fascinating. I would have loved to see the footage of the man in white overalls. 👀👻
You and me both! It’s interesting that in the channel 5 documentary (Ghosts on the underground) they talked about it but it wasn’t shown.
I don't visit London often, but my last trip this year involved both Algate and Liverpool Street stations and I shall look at them anew when I return.
Yes it’s really interesting to uncover the history of the stations. 👻🙋♀️
Another excellent episode.

Glad you think so Leslie and I really appreciate your kind words 👻
My stylist has seen and heard the ghost.
loving these videos
Thank you so much Kerrie 🙏
I love London! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
A fantastic video in every way.. from the stories (some of which I knew and some i did not) to the photographs chosen to be used Those little children at Aldgate though :( Do you think that perhaps the station is where their Home once stood ?
Their home was in a street opposite but it’s all been redeveloped now. Glad you enjoyed the video for sure 👻🙏🙋♀️
Thanks very interesting 🧐
Glad you enjoyed it David. Thank you so much 🙏👻🫖
Interesting stories. I would assume that by now there would be loads of video footage and photographs taken with mobile phones of these incidents. Also, CCTV now is better quality so should be able to record all kinds of things. The incident about the person alone on the train with a supposed person next to them that only shows up in the reflection should be easy to record.
I had no idea the Underground was so haunted!
It’s got a very dark history for sure C Casey 👻🙋♀️
LOL! I love how the signs don't say "Exit". They say "Way Out". 😂
That's easily explained to differentiate between those who want to leave the underground and exit onto the ground street level and those who are transferring to a different line connection underground.
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you 👻
I love your videos and your voice .... i would love to meet you as you interests are very similar to my own.
You could do a second installment, Aldwych(originally known as "Strand") is a station you could've covered.
Hi Neil yes there are some other stations that I might cover, including Aldwych and also some transport hubs that are not the underground might find their way into a sequel 👻🙋♀️
@@ghostcasebook1266 Cheers!
Such sad stories
Yes, I agree. Very sad stories but they are part of the fascinating history of the underground 🙏
As sightings are recorded in the station logs, how frequent are these occurences?
Infrasound is thought to be responsible for many "ghost sightings" as similar reported phenomenon.
17:25 Does anyone know of a written reference for the coin story?
Awesome
Brilliant 👏
I don't believe in ghosts as there is absolutely zero definitive falsifiable evidence for either ghosts or souls but this was interesting and I enjoyed watching as I enjoy a good ghost story, thanks for posting.
I’m so pleased you enjoyed the video, thank you. I absolutely appreciate and respect your opinion regarding ghosts, but I hope you’ll stay tuned to the channel for more content that might be interesting to you. With kind regards, 👻🙋♀️🙏
The voltage on the underground rails is 650V not 20,000, otherwise very interesting video
2:50 Foundation sacrafice and builders rite.
Death leads to freedom of painful life but joy and a different consciousness of being.
Bloody hell that was creepy, I’m always using the underground
The ghost of the woman at Aldgate healed the man on the third rail so maybe she was a Saint or a Healer we could look up from the time of the plague perhaps.
For elephant and castle, I’m sure the woman story was for the Bakerloo line, not the northern line.
There is, I feel, a bit of an odd feeling there. I can’t put my finger on it but understand what you mean for sure! 👻🙋♀️🙏
Thank you for sharing this. I love the London Underground but it can feel very eerie for sure 👻🙋♀️
Fascinating videos. I love them, but have you ever considered ASMR? Your voice is dreamy.
Hello Karl and thank you. I haven’t considered ASMR but I do like it. Not sure my family would say my voice is dreamy ha ha! 👻🙋♀️👍
@@ghostcasebook1266 you should, I nodded off to this video earlier 😂 had to come back to finish where I left off!

Thank you so much annika, I’m so glad you enjoyed the video 👻🙋♀️
I think it was channel 5, Michael Praed narrating.
Some very interesting stories here, not included in that show.
I love that narrator's voice! I imagine that whenever she speaks, gold coins pop out of her mouth.
I wish Vincent! 👻🙋♀️🙏
I hope you’ll enjoy some of the other videos on the channel too and I have plans to cover some stories from abroad too 👻🙋♀️
Attention Mr. Sands please report to the office immediately.🔥 I know what the term Mr. Sands means notice the flame.
It means that one Fire Alarm has been activated, if it’s hasn’t been acknowledged within a certain time period, the station will go into evacuation mode.
Have you ever heard of the phone calls from the dead before
Hello, not specifically but I have heard of ghost stories involving phone calls, usually as a sort of crisis apparition. 👻
@@ghostcasebook1266 what is a crisis apparition anyway
To mehchocolate12: Hope you all don’t mind me answering this but yes, I have.
See the Hammer film "Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde" for a ripping good time.
Bank station lifts from northern line..I will say no more.
@@ghostcasebook1266 I did comment as I noticed you were going to do a murder Casebook. Not sure what happened there. To be honest Nicola much as I love ghost stories I find true crime more interesting although it's interesting that your seasonal predictions of Joe publics interest in the paranormal weren't correct! Folk like a ghostly tale whether its hot or cold! Regardless with your murder channel I've got loads you could investigate. Nasty one in Colchester. In fact first murder occurred when I was working a night shift near the Castle Park 🏰.
