I finally got to see Axl perform live this past May. I was right in front and he walked in front of me and planted his feet to sing through a verse of "Don't Cry". Being 10 ft away, I could see that he still looks like the Axl everyone loved 25 years ago. The press loves to expose unflattering photos of him. The hell with the press cause to see him up close in person...he still has those eyes and the finesse that makes him one of the best rock n rock front men. The best in my opinion.
I loved Guns N' Roses then and I love them today. Axl has an incredibly talented group of musicians with him who have earned the name GNR! Music isn't about rehashing the same experiences. I mean, Axl is 51 years old now for Christ's sake! I'm 39 and I sure as hell don't look at everything the same way I did when I was in my teens. I can look back on this with fondness, but people are not frozen forever in time. That's not the way the world works. The MTV sucking now thing is spot on though! :)
Slash has a fair amount of gear in his system, can hear it in his voice. Being a former addict, currently weaning off subutex, it's hard not to notice this stuff.
axl is really a great guy and gnr wouldnt exist without one of em they all brought somehting to it....its cool to see em like this tho...great post! i love it!

He was a close friend of the band, he co-wrote "It's So Easy", "Yesterdays", "Bad Obsession", "The Garden" and a couple more that were never officially released plus he was in a side-project band with Izzy and Duff.
It's insane just how much chemistry the original GNR guys had back then! Then they fired Steven and it started going down hill from there. It sucks that there aren't any bands like this nowadays...
Totally Agree. I hated Matt and I think most people did, the only good thing about him joining the band is that they were able to tour and continue for 2 more years. But Steven and Izzy were irreplacable! When Steven left it marked the beginning of the end of GNR without them knowing it. And when Izzy left, that was definitely the END!

thats a fair point, im willing to accept that. axls always seemed like the angrier guy tho, even now izzy is the only one still making appearances with him. Meanwhile the rest of the band are still meeting up and playing music with each other. From the outside looking in it looks like Axl is the one pushing everyone away to do what he wants.

@Vingalinga It's not as complex and bass is generally very easy to play if you can play guitar. I don't find it too tricky but I wouldn't want to write anything in bass!

I bought an acoustic Guitar when I was 18. Then my Sister's first Husband gave me his Guitar. It was smaller. To this day I cannot find them I left them at my Patents

Axl sings so fine... its so fuckin hard to get that hight pitched voice... its not like ACDC... just screaming... i am not dissing ACDC... they are legends... but Axl's voice needs more power more energy more feel and more strength to do so...
Duff is actually left handed but plays a right handed guitar, must have been hard to overcome but he does it so well. Incredible band, I wish Steven could have sorted himself out like Slash and Izzy did. Once he went GN'R went downhill, in my opinion at least.

Izzy hated doing stuff like this. He was actually in jail when they recorded it, but I doubt that he would've taken part in it even if he was able to.
