No matter how far or how many hits you make - you and Sam are doing it together and that right there is precious time well spent with the short time we have on this earth.
We are grateful that you put in so much effort to take us along for the ride. Thank you both.

😊....I have a place in central Arkansas that I have permission to shoot out to 850 yards and I have to leave as if I never arrived so I carry my 8×8 or 12×12 steel and frame out to set up. How on earth you are able to manage a 24×24 is impressive. Good stuff as always.

There should be a couple of options available. If you are willing to take the trip to VA you can go to bangsteel and they go out to 2165 yards at times. I also know there are a couple of ~1k ranges in the east TN area. Hope this helps.@@joeseph6399

Your are so right that it is the precision (group) and accuracy (center of tgt) that matters. If you (the group) is within one MOA thats extremely good even if not all shots hit the plate - standard deviation dictates that not all shots do. Glad you are explicit about that.

Excellent reasoning on target dimensions, as well as the thought that went into the logistics side of things.
Your target frame or chain ever catch a round and topple or fall?
    Mark, “
Sam, can you pop down to the frame and re-hang the target? I’ve got to look after the kit here…..”
Sam, “ You shot it, so do it yourself”

I compete at the 1,000 metre range and am always amazed at your long distance shooting. I would feel the 24 inch square target really brings the realism to the accuracy of the shooting. I would say the wind is more of the trying factor of its inconsistency. Thank you for your information.

I used to program lasers (and the 60 foot plasma and torch table) and my guess was going to be that a 24" square fits nicely in a grid on an 48x120 inch sheet. Sheet metal comes in various sizes of course, but that was a fairly normal size. We did do a lot of 60x120 as well. The big table did a lot of 96 x 240 and longer, but that was mostly heavy plate. 3/8 inch and thicker.

I love the channel first and foremost. Im retired Army Infantryman and one of my hobbies Ive picked up is long-range shooting. Unfortunately I don't have an area to go pass 1000 yards. I shoot at a AR500 steel silhouette that 12x18 inches. I shoot for tight groups also. We had a saying in the Army, Aim small, miss small 😅😅😅

I have no idea why or when I decided to use moa diameter size targets but we generally shoot to 600 max yards although there’s targets to 1000 for giggles/grins. There’s five of us that do this and mostly to the 500 yard target or less. None of us have any custom quality rifles. After market triggers and some very nice scopes of various brands. Our main goal is to be able to take out coyotes beyond normal yardages. lol, I even made a 3/8” plate coyote metal cutout shape for a 500 yard shot. There’s a couple of us that reload but mostly Hornady ammo. Lots of times we will bet a pot of a dollar or two per round per shot. Makes a fella pay attention to his shooting lol. I did put a 20” barrel on one of my ar15’s and it’s a total tack driver. Gotta love this stuff 👍👍

So started putting the large plate behind the smaller targets so atleast its easy to see a miss.

Now, I haven't watched but 15 seconds of the video. My initial thought on the target size is X by X inches target at a specific distance equals equals whatever at 100 yards, or the like. I'm going to laugh, if the real reason is something like, "it's the largest target we can carry or haul in our car." 😃
