    Baby powder is put on the rubber netwrap roller to prevent it from wrapping up with net. Even the least little bit of stickiness or, worse yet, RAZOR BLADE CUTS/NICKS in the rubber from removing wrapped up net, can grab the net as it goes through the mechanism and cause wrapping around the rubber roller. BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL removing wrapped net on the roller so you DON'T cause any cuts/nicks or anything else that can grab the net. IF it's rolling net around the roller, a nice rub down with baby powder to make sure it's NOT sticky, will help with the issues... AND it's not just a JD problem-- it's prone to happen on ANY baler with a rubber roller in the netwrap mechanism. Later! OL J R :)

  • @farmcentralohio
    @farmcentralohio 3 роки тому +3

    Jacob, you too could be a baby powder user :) It's not just a JD thing. Sprinkle a little on the rubber rolls and it's helps keep the netwrap from grabbing onto it and getting wound up where it shouldn't. I was told it's sort of a conditioner for the rubber.

      It soaks the moisture out of the rubber roller. And if that rubber rolls is wet it’s an absolute nightmare

    Oh, the baby powder is so the net wrap doesn't stick to the rubber roller in the net dispenser. It's really a lot simpler system than New Holland.

      It sure is. I have a buddy making my hay now until I can get a really nice baler. He has a new holland br780. I was running it one day and just crossing my fingers I didn’t have to change the net roll. It looks so confusing 🤣 my Deere 458 was very easy. Still hated the baler but it did load net easy

    The V-rake setup looks like it works pretty well for the round baler. I need to find a 260 rake like that for my operation. Rolling them up with the dual 258's I have now, the windrow is lopsided and I have to weave a lot.

    Farmers are often victims of looking over a neighbours fence and copying them, they will often buying shiny new kit to keep their son or sons home. They then become hostage to a never-ending need to upgrade their kit to keep their boys happy.

    Fun fact. That chaff that drops on top of the Bale. Is by design. That was in a New Holland brochure. A pan at the bottom of the door collects it. It's deposited on the Bale, instead of leaving it in the field. In hopes it will make it to the cows. I never did think to much of it either?🤔😜

    Hope you let that stuff sit for a week before you stacked them close. That wet makes me nervous about going through a heat and lighting off. Seen too many barns burn around here getting in too big a hurry to get it in there. Yours looks drier in the bale than the ground did though.

  • @John-hd5ex

    Bale getting stuck is likely due to your big windrows filling the baler all the way across and making tight bales. If it gets to be a problem some balers have wedges basically 1/2 inch plate pieces that bolt in the bale chamber to compress the hay so it isn’t so tight to the sides of the baler

    • @boehmfarm4276
      @boehmfarm4276  3 роки тому +1

    I recently got an 847 with auto tie that makes 5x5 bales. Had to do some repairs to the chain. Loosened it up pretty good to try to make sure the chain wouldn't break and didn't make full bales but it keeps breaking the chain after a few bales. Just cost me 35 acres of hay over the weekend after it broke the third time with only getting 12 bales completed.....
    I'm sure its the original chain. Is it really worth the $1500 to buy a replacement upper chain? Thanks for any advise.

    I certainly did not watch his video. I saw it and read the title and it turned my stomach. The pressure sensors should be the same for the engine and the trans. On my 706 the oil light is for trans and engine. It's a grounding switch. Either you have the sensor wire worn through and touching metal or a faulty switch. The switches were $9 each when I bought a pair a couple years ago. Switch is located on the multiple control valve on the left side of the tractor.

    Ever seen a few round bales in a field with a red strip on the center of the netwrap? A center green company puts that on there for the last few bales so you know you're about to run out. It's kind of nice, not totally needed but would be handy if all the companies did that. Not a fan of the rural king wrap, it doesn't seem to be as sticky and comes off a little to easy when moving them after storing outside.

    • @boehmfarm4276

      I finally found the red stripe in a future video.

    • @farmcentralohio
      @farmcentralohio 3 роки тому

      @@boehmfarm4276 The fun part about the red stripe is I swear it's not always the same length. It's close but there's been times I was surprised how many more bales I got wrapped before it ran out.

    @boehmfarm4276 Jacob, did you need to do anything special to your 848 to run modern netwrap? I bought one last year and the previous owner uses black plastic net. Its a dealer item and I'm looking to switch over to the stuff i can get at the farm store. The previous owner said some modifications were required he thought lol

    Have to be careful if that’s the transmission lube light. Worked for a guy with a 1086 and the light started coming on a lot come to find out the suction tube broke and tore up the pinion bearings. Better confirm pressure

      George, We have the same problem here in Mississippi. If it's border line dry. Sun starts to set. Just have to stop. It's always a judgement call. But I feel like as long as it's still in the field. I have a chance at getting it dry. Bale it too wet. It's game over. Hungry cows this winter😳

      @@rogercarrico4975 can be hard not to bale hay here if its 95% the way dry .......you might not get another crack at it as it could rain for weeks at a time ......we only bale swamp hay here as the grass is very easy to save , upland hay is a lot harder got fit for the baler .........hay that heats bad is rolled out for bedding ....its amazing what they will eat out of it after if they are not forced to eat it .............only ground thats a distance from the yard is baled for hay , medows around the yard are cut for silage or baled green and bales are wrapped ...... wrapped bales are expensive but are good feed ..........

      @@georgedoorley5628 I completely understand. So hard to quite on hay. When there's a 100% percent chance of rain over night. Hahaha!! But if I feel it's too wet. Then experience has taught me I have to stop. It will mold!! Cows want eat it! Also a danger of spontaneous combustion if it gets too hot. Plenty of stories of guys burning their barn down. Putting hay up that was balled too wet.
