I NEARLY DROWNED MY NEW CF MOTO 450MT

  • I was out on a mission of discovery exploring new roads and places while taking it easy running in the engine on my new CF Moto 450MT. I'd planned my route and was excited about the day ahead. I was about 15km from home when I turned on to a gravel road "Rouchel Gap Rd". Only 400m or so along this road I came to a treed area which was hiding a creek. I thought cool a creek crossing. When I got close I thought "oh wow it's wide. How deep is it?". It was at this point I noticed how fast it was flowing and realised I was at the point of no return, I had to take it on and pray that I made it through. I got pushed cross and off the concrete causeway and was able to battle my way back on and out the other side. The rest of this road varied from hard packed gravel, then got rocky as I climbed up the mountain then it was a smooth slippery muddy surface which gave me many but puckering moments as the tyres protested as they slipped and slid across the road. Once I was back on the bitumen I decided that I stay on the black top today and changed plans on the route. I rode to Upper Rouchel then turned around before hitting the gravel and rode to Gundy to hit the Ling Longa Inn for lunch. Unfortunately it was closed so I turned and headed home.

You made those slippery wet clay roads look easy. Luckily the air filter/intake is high up on the bike, anyone wanting to know how deep a water crossing can be for the 450MT to pass just has to watch your video.😁

Thanks mate. Those roads were terrible, was all over the place. I must have had about 30 slips, unfortunately the camera only caught the big one where I had to put my foot down to stay upright. Being completely new to this riding I was crapping myself on about 50% of that road not knowing if I was going to crash my brand new bike which doesn't have any protection yet. Thanks for watching and commenting mate it's greatly appreciated

Glad you made it through the water, ive done close to 2000ks on mine now and i can say the bike just gets better once everything loosens up. Cheers.

Thanks mate and I'm glad too, I didn't think I was going to make it at the time. It only had 200km on it at that point. I've done just over 500km atm. I'm looking forward to getting the 1st service done, but it won't be going back to where I bought it. Thanks for watching and commenting mate.

You and bike handled it no problem. If more adventure riders passed landowners livestock/animals etc at a respectful pace like you we’d get less stick - it was good to see you purposely in a higher gear with minimal noise/speed in that opening sequence.👍

Exactly mate respect the environment you riding/driving in and you wont have any problems. But act like an idiot and you will ruin it for everyone. Yeah I think I got lucky in the creek crossing, I really thought I was gone and bike was done. It only had 200km on it at the time. Thanks for watching and commenting.

@@FlatBrokeAdventures Interestingly think on a dual sport, that’s much lighter than even the 185kgs of the 450MT, you might’ve been swept into that creek - there’s situations like that the little extra weight actually works in your favour.

@@RichardS-qh8mi Yes exactly I was originally looking at getting a DR650 which I think are 165 - 170kg wet. This bike is 175kg dry and about 195kg wet so you Im probably lucky to have the extra weight. Luckily I'm 110kg too

Hi ,took one for a demo ride on Friday and the suspension felt a bit firm on the bitumen...seemed to just sort of skip over the top like the first few cms of travel were not working....any ideas you have about this would be good as I really like this bike ..maybe a shocks tweak or something 🤔. Good videos have ridden in similar areas in Queensland ..Cheers

The front and rear suspension are both fully adjustable. On my 1st ride I noticed the same thing but I haven't noticed it since. IT's still a bit firm so I'm going to look into softening it up a little. Thanks for watching and commenting.
