I love the poetic ending for Lester about how Wrench and Numbers were going to put him in the ice but Lester escaped and then eventually wound up there anyway
I think Lester's main issue was that overcoming his loser problems felt so good each time. It fed his ego and made him feel like a winner for the first time in his adult life. Every time he made a high risk/high reward move and got away with it, he thought he was just that good.He literally started to feel like the odds didn't apply to him. The Solverson/Grimly combined family is awesome, Adoptive grandad/grandaughter guarding each other on the porch is precious! On to Season 2! It's not a spoiler to say it's even better than Season 1.
Season 1 is pure perfection for me from start to finish. I honestly don't understand why people say season 2 is even better. I don't want to spoil too much, but that _one_ thing in season 2 ruined it for me. I hope you know what I mean. The movie and season 1 are all about human stupidity and how everything can spiral out of control when stupidity meets greed, hubris and recklessness and then one "unfortunate" event follows another. Season 2 has that too, but this *one* thing has no place in Fargo for me, because for me it takes out part of the chain of "unfortunate" coincidences of human actions and replaces it with something else. Sorry to be so cryptic, but I don't want to spoil anyone too hard. I hope it's obvious to people who know the season what I mean by that one thing. With all that said, I would even rank season 3 above season 2, tbh.
I have been more hype for this than anything else on UA-cam hahaha; this has been an AMAZING reaction series. Loved getting a young creative's thoughts on one of the boldest, most underrated pieces of 2010s TV. Can't wait for you to see the other seasons.
When the Dad says he's gonna protect his granddaughter man he was solidified as my favourite character I just love how even tho he's only known her for year he's gonna do anything to keep her safe. That's powerful stuff
if you notice Lester's clothing throughout the season, it gets progressively darker in colour as Lester himself gets progressively darker, culminating in the completely black outfit in this episode
Loved your appreciation for this series, this is at the apex of tension/drama TV. An amazing story with amazing characters and actors to bring them to life. You are going to love season 2.
Lester was always on thin ice. The guy strapped to the steering wheel was the guy lester was trying to sell the extra insurance just in case the unexpected happened in episode 1. You will love season 2.
The grandfather IS awesome, so good to see Keith Carradine. You should definitely check him out in Ridley Scott's first flick, The Duellists (1977) which still stands up.
Keep 'em coming bruh.....hit the play button on season 2 and buckle up , only this time double up on the episodes. I'm so glad that you decided to react to this series, it really is some of the best television ever made.
Dude i love the show and you're the only person on UA-cam i enjoy watching their reactions to it , I'd love to see you reacting to the next season's they're wild af you're gonna really enjoy your time Love your videos dude
Season 2 is crazy but Season 3 is a bit different but I think you'd really appreciate how the main villian in season 3 is done, he's probably the most relevant villian for these times ever
I love season 2. “Sioux Falls, ever been?” I wish I could patron for that but I’ll have to be patient for the next season. Loved the series from your perspective. Also, the score for this is incredible. Tell me that violin opening isn’t tattooed on you brain, but in the good way. Reaaaaaly looking forward to season 2.
Thank you, James. Something *very* relevant to S2 of Fargo: The Original Twilight zone ep "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street." (And the Coen flick The Man Who Wasn't There). Both are unnecessary to see...but...
Lester solving the word problem with the rabbit, fox, and cabbage is a wink to the UK version of The Office. Martin Freeman solves the same problem as the character Tim in a team building exercise.
In Native American myth from the region, the wolf is a noble creature representing courage and nobility, and the fox is a trickster who can sometimes lead someone to their death. In some stories the two are opposed to each other. I don't think the wolf actually represents Malvo, or at least stops representing Malvo part way through the season, I think (as his name actually means) he is the fox, an evil trickster. Off the top of my head I remember the wolf appearing shortly before interactions with Gus. As the two get closer and closer the wolf becomes more and more prominent. We see a wolf in the video playing in the van of the guy who sells Malvo the radios. The radios Malvo uses to figure out where Gus lives. Malvo shares his theory about Rome and wolves shortly before he spots gus in the street. Malvo has Don tell a story about a wolf during the last blackmail message, shortly after Gus goes to the store to ask the store manager for information. After the riddle of the wolf the rabbit and the cabbage, we see Gus hunting around for Mavo. Finally the last episode a wolf literally appears and leads Gus to Malvo. It's like the Wolf has been looking for the fox to end his mischief.
Shout out to Billybob. One of the great unsung heroes of cinema. James, if you liked the Malvo character, you've got a serious rabbit hole of BBT material to dive in to. This was stellar, but you haven't seen his best work. Slingblade bruh, will knock your socks off. Bandits with Bruce Willis. A Simple Plan with Bill Paxton. Princess Mononoke... Yeah, he's even got epic anime wins on his record. Plus, he banged Angelina.
James I have a recommendation for you. I think you'd really appreciate the film-making in the movie "Little Miss Sunshine". Also has great performances and pulls at your heartstrings, would love love love to see your reaction to this :)
2 film suggestions 1, uprgade (2018) real cool camera work in this one. 2, no one lives (2012) its an often overlooked movie thats really good and puts a nice spin on the slasher genre.
I wanted Lester to become the villain of next season and start doing what happened to him to others to start forcing others to show what they really are... wolves among sheep.
This season is so good! Love Martin Freeman in this. Watched a film calles Passing on netflix yesterday, starring Tessa Thompson and Ruth Negga. I think you would enjoy it, interesting film! Hope you do a reaction on that one, would be interesting to hear your thoughts!
Season 2 is also amazing, though not as good as S1 imo. It is also, somewhat related to S1. I however, cannot recommend S3 and S4. But maybe you'll find them to your liking.
@@JamesVSCinema Bruh, I hope you start watching season 2 next week. Season 2 is even better than season 1, universally recognized. It has a 100% on rotten tomatoes compared to season 1's 97%. The editing is better the cinematography definitely better, the scale is larger more epic, more characters and even better more nuanced writing.
I love the poetic ending for Lester about how Wrench and Numbers were going to put him in the ice but Lester escaped and then eventually wound up there anyway
Gotta admit, this was quite a satisfying ending. Gonna miss Lester, though.
Definitely gotta do season 2!
Seriously! He’s gonna be so into it. The cinematography, the music, the villains. Top tier
and 3. super underrated!!

Your going to lose your mind at season 2 and season 3 is actually my favorite so it's only good things to look forward to. So exited to see more.
I have been eagerly anticipating this one and then moving on to number two, classic series

The grandfather is the main character of season two which takes place in the 70s.
"Kill and be killed. Head in a bag. There's the message"
I'm happy you enjoyed it. Again, one show I more than recommend is by David Lynch: ABC's Twin Peaks from 1990.

Speaking of wolves, Malvo does a voice over narration in the intro for S3E4, reading from Peter and the Wolf.
Baaaaased. Congrats on finishing S1. S2 is also great for different reasons. We finally see some stuff alluded to in this season.
I subbed to you when you started watching this series. I really hope you just keep going with it as S2 and 3 are just as amazing!
I love that the Wolf got taken out by two “Sheeps”
