- The etc Unicorn is the ultimate big guy shortboard. At up to 6'0 with 44L of volume, this is the best option that i have found for easy wave catching, unparalleled speed and still the ability to flick off the top.
This is a high performance surfboard, not a grovel board.
If you are carrying more weight, lacking paddle fitness or just like to surf a shortboard with a bit more volume - this is the board for you. It is unbelievable in shoulder high+ conditions. And Steve says that it is good in up to 3x overhead.

I love Steve's boards too- I've got a 6' 2'' pickle and it's hands down the best board I've had. It's super light, paddles like a dream, gets up and going with one quick pump. The sidecut makes the tight turns a breeze. It's also the most comfortable board to paddle- Steve puts a slight dish in the deck which just works perfectly. Attention to detail is next level! Highly recommended.

Agree, the slight concave in the deck makes a big difference to paddling comfort that you do not notice until you get back on a normal board. Steve's attention to detail is next level.
@@bretttarlinton4446 He definitely knows what he is doing. I found that handling one of his boards up close shows his attention to detail. Beautiful boards.

Great review, stoked to see others discovering Steve's magic. Been riding a 5'10" for the past 12 months. Just an average punter. I'm anywhere from 70kg to 75kg, 5ft 8 inch tall and 49 years old. Steve suggested a 5'6" for me but I couldn't get my head around a board that short, was coming down from a 7'0". When it arrived I couldn't believe how much board it was for a 5'10". It goes mental ridden it from shin high to decent overhead on nice north coast NSW point breaks. When it is above waist high or steep faces it flies. Mates have commented on the spray I'm throwing, that has never happened before. Any questions hit up Steve, he is a total legend to deal with. Been surfing for nearly 40 years, best board I have ridden. If you check ETC boards on Insta mine is the orange one with the mint stripes.
Thanks for watching. I have also noticed more spray when doing turns. Especially off the back hand.
I agree they do also feel much bigger then the volume suggests.
Hey Brett, I'm looking for something with plenty of float (I'm 95kg's) but still "High performance". Do you think this board would fit the bill? I'm not looking to cruise just yet!

With the construction, foil and outline it rides 3 - 4+ litres bigger. I was on the 44l and it felt loads more volume
