When Alan was looking at the keys, then reached into his pocket, I thought he was going to pull out a cellphone. It was an address book. OMG! my lines got blurred for a second. Lol
Lol. Whenever I watch something Pre- Cellphone or Pre Internet I play a game and look for all the situations where a Cell phone wouldve really made life much more easy for the characters lol. It would make a great drinking game too lol.
The complexities relating to Alan Spaulding are well exemplified by the Hope/Diane scene. No woman represented Alan's good side better than the beautiful, blonde Hope Bauer, and no woman represented Alan's dark side than the beautiful brunette Diane Ballard.
Clearance at 9:50 was on Ryan's Hope in 1978 as one of the Doctors who looked over little Edmund.. Nice seeing Early Floyd..!! I loved Barbara Berjer on the show !!
I agree. Ron Raines eventually became a great recast in the role. But No one could really "replace" Chris. He was one of a kind. He passed away way too soon. He couldve gone on to doing prime time film or anything. He was a true actor's actor not just a soap actor! That also goes for Michael Zaslow, Mart Hulswit and Don Stewart .
The closing theme is a 2-minute crawl!! Wow!! I remember long closings wayyyy back when!! Not today!! That's about $350,000 in lost advertising revenue today!! Ha ha!!
Yes and they moved slower so I could actually read them lol. I did that alot as a kid. I was fascinated with learning the actors names and the writers and producers.
I had forgotten Tom Nielsen (Floyd) had been married to Lisa Brown (Nola) for nine years, until they divorced in the early 1990s. Apparently they met on the show. They had two children together. Brown has since remarried. Despite his being made up to be a bit scuzzy and having somewhat unruly hair, Nielsen was a good-looking guy, especially in profile.
It did...The date on this one has to be wrong. M*A*S*H aired after GL until 9/17/79, when it was replaced by "One Day at a Time". As staytunedfor said, "One Day" moved to 4:00 on 2/4/80, but it aired at 3:30 until then.
Thiy was a great episode,Mike and Ed,Alan and Rodger.

@@hoagie1978 Ah, yes! I remember it well.

I ENJOYED WATCHING THE GUIDING LIGHT WITH MY GRANDMOTHER
AND AS THE WORLD TURNS!
Everybody who remembers hitting the TV when the picture would roll like it is at 27:27, raise your hand!!! :-D
Yep! And if was was prolonged, we'd get on our knees and adjust the horizontal control knob on the back of the set.
Yup and my dad was the master at it... he "fixed" it
Heaven forbid if any of us tried it..........we would "break" it
Hellurrrr!
Lol....Alan always lurking around a phone with anxiety 😁

Ew. Diane not exactly beautiful.
@@soulshaker9018 She Was consumed by WAY TOO much hate !!
Alan liked Rita OVER Diane too !!
@@soulshaker9018 Diane did not have much of personality. I never liked her character.
Diane the coquette casually lounging at home reading the papers in her negligee.
That was a scene I COULD have done without !!🤣🤣
She was waiting for Alan to call or visit. She had a long wait. Lol.
Its from 1978 (not '79) because of the New Times Roman font credits and the stay tuned for MASH part
Thanks for the upload 👍 !! "There is STILL More" !!.

Unfortunately Lisa Brown passed away a few months ago.
I felt sad when I heard about Lisa. She was very talented. RIP
I loved Floyd on the show He was good comic relief. .Until the show made him a impromtu Killer in 1985 .
I thought One day at a Time came on next.
I guess it would depend on the affiliate.

@Linda(open): In New Orleans, where I lived at the time, *The Joker's Wild* came on next... it came on at 2:30pm, right after this soap, on WWL(4).
Floyd is a true romantic.
