The police failed to interview witnesses, didn't secure the camera footage, dismissed the parents and gaslit them, ignored complaints of decomposition odour from the area the missing person was last seen at, and showed no interest in this case.

There is absolutely no way she pulled one of those lids off by herself, climbed down in there, and then pulled the lid back closed, again, by herself. She was most definitely placed down in there. We used cranes bolted onto the beds of our heavy duty trucks to lift, move, and load the frames and lids of sewer manholes. They weigh several hundreds of pounds. I’m from Little Rock & this is a good overview of the case. The LRPD was completely incompetent. Ebby’s family, specifically her mother, who was just advocating for her daughter, quickly developed a contentious relationship w/the police. I think they even told her to stop calling. The mother had some connections & went around the police which pissed them off even more. I think they also thought of Ebby as being kinda wild & just categorized her as a runaway. It’s like the police were so damn lazy and incompetent on purpose. True that finding the body sooner might not have changed her death, but all that time decaying, losing vital evidence, and not giving the family any closure is a colossal insult to every cop that takes their job seriously regardless of who’s involved. One of the guy’s HAD TO have a connection with the police department.

I know I don't have all the info, but the info that is available makes me think that someone involved in assaulting Ebby was protected by the police. I'm from the southern US, and it's not uncommon for the police to protect the 'good old boys' and think that a woman's life isn't as important as some man's career or reputation. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the men who assaulted Ebby was the son of a local politician or prominent person, or the quarter back of the local football team.

Regular people like you& I cannot comprehend how they could ignore obvious evidence in order to solve the case. However, most of the time, it's just pride& laziness!

As a former criminology student who passed the course, her phone could be used in some form of evidence against those that sexually assaulted her. Its a clear motive given she had info and could easily ruin their lives with it. Obviously it's not really concrete evidence like a murder weapon having her blood and their fingerprints on it, but it's a start. I am disturbed by the fact that Ebby Steppach went undiscovered for so long. Her poor family. Why didn't the police check that sewer when they had complaints about the smell? There is no excuse - I hope the police apologized to the family. Great video - sad, but as usual - well done.

My hunch is that the killer is one of the SA perps and the son of a cop.
The delayed reaction so recordings and destruction of the evidence by leaving the trunk open were intentionally done by the department.
So the son is likely the son of someone with pull in the department and protected the killer.

Kansan here. The reason Kansas and Arkansas are pronounced differently is because they are named after two different Native American tribes. The twist is that they should still be pronounced similar if using the langauges the two names came from, but the French happened 😅

that police department should be forever shamed, and honestly should have gotten reprimanded. Did they not go through her phone records and texts to find out who she claims assaulted her? Wouldnt that at least be a possible step in the direction of possible suspect? What a sad story that kinda makes me shake at the thought of my own daughter growing up.

Right? House parties, Police, and Overall shady people; something is bound to happen with these things in the mix.
When I was in high school I always had trust issues, I had a small group of friends, and most of all I was an introvert, so only time I’d go to a party was when it was for a close friend or when it was for the band I was in.
I’ve also had the valuable experience at a young age, that people are shit. Being bullied in elementary school made me realize that NOT everyone wants to be your friend.
Some people want to use you or target you with malicious intent.
