Kurt's playing is so amazingly beautiful here. What a sound with that D'angelico. Lucky to exist in a world where this transcendent art is being created
Seeing how Kurt turns this song into a whole seven minutes is amazing. When I play it, it just sounds the same as Horace Silver, but on guitar. Inspiring!
Not to be pedantic, but it starts a few seconds earlier. First note of the melody is the top of his ascending run at about 1:40. The note is around 1:43
Too Much! The more I listen to it the deeper it gets. He's so spontaneous with his chord melody reaching for what he hears at that moment. This is a Masterpiece version of this song! He's so fresh and modern with his ideas - cutting edge.
The jazz guitar world before and after Rosenwinkel’s revolution. It’s his time now, he indicates the path for the new generation and takes everyone by surprise. Even the masters cos’ jazz must go on.
Josh Ferguson have you heard charles altura or mike moreno or adam rogers or miles okazaki or julian lage or lage lund or jonathan kriesberg or jesse van ruller or gilad hekselman or ben monder or yotam silberstein or kurt rosenwinkel?
still kurt and metheny are probably the ones who revolutionized the jazz guitar the most with innovative aproaches and new vocabulary, joe pass, kreisberg, mike moreno they all kept the sense of tradition but evolved it to a contemporary aproach but kurt completely made one from sratch from influences of others like metheny that did somewhat the same thing

Interesting to hear him without the attack removed these days. Still such a great tone and feel.
I gotta say I hate having the attack when recording but it's completely necessary playin live...kurts good regardless tho
I agree. I like this so much more. I hope this is the tone on his new trio record
oh yes. His sound today is a little too much (or to less??:D) for me.... But still unbelievable wonderful player!
he is using EHX HOG2 and POG2. both work well in removing the attack. it kinda gives you softer touch to each note
so much better!!

For me he is one of the most gifted of today’s players ,
What he plays up until the melody statement starting at 1:47 is confounding and beautiful. Wow.

Kurt's extraordinary musical imagination has no bound
He has put on an absolute clinic 😮

Could listen to that all day.
his best sound imo

Lovely, intimate footage highlighting an incredibly gifted jazz guitarist---thank you for sharing!!
Thank You!
Wish he'd go back to this tone. I don't care for his tone nowadays, only his content.
1:29 very nice.
Absolutely beautiful!
That was absolutely delightful.
Beautiful

👏👏👏
Amazing play. That´s a very light pick , less than 1mm gauge most likely, any clue what does he use?
I have one of his picks, not light. Medium. Also have Methenys and Jim Halls.
Wow that's all
From when is this? Is there more footage? This is awesome!
Jazz Messi...The greatest guitar player entire jazz history!
Wow I respect your opinion but have you heard Jack Wilkins Joe Pass Jim hall or Barney Kessel
Josh Ferguson have you heard charles altura or mike moreno or adam rogers or miles okazaki or julian lage or lage lund or jonathan kriesberg or jesse van ruller or gilad hekselman or ben monder or yotam silberstein or kurt rosenwinkel?
Kurt is the best period!
and to add to the list, some of the fusion guys. Pat Metheny, Shawn Lane, Allan Holdsworth, and John Mclaughlin

Year on this anyone?
What model of d Angelico Is this?
Deluxe KR signature model.
Actually pretty sure that’s Kurt’s D’angelico NYSS3B from the early 2000s
@@trevorgiancola6054 oh, then my bad
Nice sound after he adjusted the amp. What type of D'Angelico is this?
I'll answer my own question. It's probably a D'Angelico Excel SS. I just bought one, which is almost exactly like it. Even the same colour. :)
New Yorker?
@@bluesful Thanks!
Its a NYSS3B made in japan in 2000's. They still make a bunch of them every year and costs like 2600$, search for the japan shop if u want to be sure
@@hugomenendezhermida817 Thanks so much for sharing that info!
