    Today I'll be discussing how we acquired these 3 broken snow blowers.
    In the upcoming weeks, you'll see us taking parts from each of them to build 1 good snow blower for our personal use here at the shop.

    I brought a Bolens snowblower home that had wore through the nylon axle bushing on the sprocket side causing the chain to snap. Those bushings are no longer available so I cut 6 inch by 6 inch squares from a Craftsman with bronze bushings and bolted them over the existing bushing holes on the Bolens which fit perfectly. I swapped engines to the 318cc flathead Tecumseh after swapping camshafts and sump covers because it's the counter rotating pulleys type. I can do this thanks to you and other people that share knowledge so thanks again.

    Well worth the purchase price provided they come with the engine, even if it is blown up parting it out makes a lot of money. As an example those fuel tanks list around $190 Cdn and the chute control assembly is $189 Cdn. Well done cant wait to see the finished product hopefully before it snows again.

      Unbelievable what used parts can be sold for, just have to wait until customers come forward with equipment that requires what we have on hand. In most cases we sell used parts for 50% of list price but some of our equipment we have purchased only had an hour on it (no oil installed prior to use) and those parts go for just under list price normally save the customer the tax.

    • @EliminatorPerformance

      Yea if I had to buy one comparable, it would cost $1700 easily here in Canada, plus tax. We'd be into it for $2000 by the end of it. Once this one is done, not only will I have a nice working snowblower, but we may make a small profit too

    Interesting as they appear to be ayp/poulan. We had a 27 inch poulan dropped at our church dumpster. It had a blown 9 hp tecumseh flathead. I bought a used briggs 1350 blower engine. It turned out to have a wider mounting bolt pattern. I made up a 1/8 steel plate and bolted it to the chassis using tecumseh pattern and over lapped the mounting area for 2 of the motor bolts. Those bolts are on right side where the chassis angles down to the side.

    • @EliminatorPerformance
      @EliminatorPerformance  Рік тому

      Yes these engines are incredibly easy to remove and install, 6 bolts!

    • @kenhilson786
      @kenhilson786 Рік тому

      The side angling down was why there was no space to simply drill new holes in the flat mounting area

    • @kenhilson786
      @kenhilson786 Рік тому +1

      @Eliminator Performance what's the distance between the side to side motor mount holes on the 1450 and 1350. As said, mine were wider the flat mounting surface. Chassis box is 10 inches wide but top mounting surface is only 6 or 7 inches wide due to side tapers. Bolt distance was 7 or 8.

    • @EliminatorPerformance
      @EliminatorPerformance  Рік тому

      @@kenhilson786 Measured ours, same width, but I can confirm you are correct. They technically take different mounting plates. I will simply swap them around if needed. The holes they drill for the engines are the same though. Everything looks similar other than a cut out on the back of the 1450 plate and some overhang. While the 1350 plate has no overhang and a small cut out on the bottom. The 1450 takes a 436146X615 and the 1350 uses a 423185X615 in case you were wondering. Will investigate further before part 3, as I'm just editing part 2 now.

    I like the video and I have a 26 year old MTD snowblower that is in great condition, looks like new and runs like new mines garage kept. I did the same thing you did I bought one that needed a new carb cheap, I stripped it and now I have spare parts. I got a question about a Craftsman carb #951-12705. There is a adjustment screw by the mounting hole can't find out anything about it, what does it do, what's the setting for it (how many turns for fully closed)? I hope you feel better soon my wife and I were sick for 2 weeks, hopefully you can point me in the right direction for this adjusting screw.

      That screw all the way in will protrude the needle inside the carb and close off that jet. I personally have never had to adjust one but i believe when i last ultrasonic cleaned one it was 5 to 5.5 turns out from all the way in. Jake may know more about this i will pass it on.

      The 20M engines have issues with the connecting rods breaking. Both the 1450s had this failure. However, as you'll see in my next video, it's not related to the lack of throttle control, as 1 engine had one, and the other didn't.
