My Dad served on HMAS Melbourne three tours on HMAS Sydney to Vietnam and one on the Gun Line on HMAS Hobart. DDG 39. RIP Mate.
Thanks for this. Miss the DDG's & the Daring Class Destroyers, E.g. Vampire/Vendetta.
While in the USN and on the USS Ranger CV61, we visited Australia and I was delighted to see what I thought were Australian Charles F Adams DDGs still in service, as DDG8 USS Lynde McCormick was my previous and first assigned ship and I felt I had a good idea what those fine men were working and living with.
Shackles was the best CO I served under on the steel cat. Loved that ship great crew
I was on HMAS Perth in '85.
