    I've done three winters in Breckenridge and two in north Tahoe and I've been toying with the idea of staying closer to home on the east coast. I think you just sold me on Killington. I could make my daily rounds on that terrain!

      I am looking forward to tearing up the slopes with the young'uns :-) Killington is my favorite Eastern resort of the ones I've visited (Sugarbush, Okemo, Stowe). They're all good, some more family friendly but Killington offers the most difficulty and variety for skiiers craving steeps, bumps and glades. With the large area and multiple gondolas it has a pretty Western feel for an East coast resort. I've heard good things about Maine resorts but they're just too far away; I'd rather fly out West at that point.

    You hit most of my favorite woods runs, and one I've never done (The Stairs). Cover looks a little thin, but you're lucky you got some freshies during the week. Sounds like surf music

    Now I see why Warren liked the K.
    Never skied back east , but maybe I'll have to this season.
    How dry the west is , it maybe the only skiing around.
    I've only been told stories of landfill slopes out your way.

    • @BenCarterWM
      @BenCarterWM  2 роки тому +1

      I'm so glad they got some fresh snow for your visit! Big Dipper skier's left may be totally different, now, as this was five years ago and some vegetation has probably grown up. I also have no idea if the left path I went down is even part of the trail or what! I just remember that cat track I got on was progressively narrow and fast; I was feeling a bit out of control so I purposefully washed out on my side before I ran into something :-D Enjoy your trip!

    This video, although excellent doesn’t do you justice. You handled some of the toughest trails in the entire east coast, if not the USA like a pro. I wish there was a way to have a second person film you and do a split screen. By the way, this is how you get great. Start really young. That goes for everything. Well done sir. Subscribed.

      Thank you! You are very kind. Killington certainly has some legitimate terrain and it's my favorite of the East coast resorts I've skied so far. Sadly I haven't been out skiing much in the past few years, but I'm hoping to get to Utah next year.

    I may be going here soon what where the best trails in you opion that had fun rock drops and stuff like that

    • @BenCarterWM
      @BenCarterWM  2 роки тому +1

      Skye peak liftline has a decent sized rock drop off midway through and Devil's -Den- (edit: Devil's Fiddle) has numerous smaller rocks as well as one larger area that you could jump off from different places. Both are in this video but I'm not sending big air or anything, so it looks pretty tame on the helmet cam.

    What would you say is the most challenging slope at killingrton.

    • @BenCarterWM
      @BenCarterWM  2 роки тому

      It probably depends on the skier. I love moguls - you may have noticed the only two groomed slopes in this entire video are Neffland park and the bunny slope. Still, Outer Limits' steep pitch (30-35 degrees over basically the entire length) and more than 1100' of vertical tested my endurance for sure. Devil's Fiddle is even steeper near the very top, then matches the same 30-35* pitch for a while, but flattens out near the bottom. Devil's Fiddle also has rocks and boulders to jump off of, but they're optional and easily avoided. Growler, Anarchy, and some other tree runs aren't quite as steep as Outer Limits, but still steep and are more technical.
      If someone doesn't ski moguls, I wouldn't say any of the groomed slopes are particularly challenging, though for being a single black I remember being surprised how steep Superstar got at a few points (near the bottom, maybe? I only skied it once). It's pretty universal that the hardest runs will be glades or mogul runs as there's a limit on how steep a run the snow cats can work on. Though, some runs at other resorts are groomed by winch cats which have an attachment at the top of the slope to help them up. I wouldn't want that grooming job :-)

    awesome video, love Killington! What would you say is the best gale run for a beginner to the trees?

    • @BenCarterWM
      @BenCarterWM  3 роки тому

      Thank you for watching! Twister, near the top of Ramshead mountain, is a perfect beginner glade trail with a gentle slope and well spaced trees. I love that run - even for more advanced skiers, it's so much fun to just float through the trees and not have to worry about nailing your turns :-)

    • @BenCarterWM
      @BenCarterWM  3 роки тому +1

      Actually, Squeeze Play on Ramshead mountain may be the trail I was thinking of. Regardless, those blue glades should be the right area to learn!

    • @BenCarterWM
      @BenCarterWM  4 роки тому

      It's no pushover, that's for sure. It's not sustained steepness from top to bottom, but parts of it are fairly steep. It also depends if you head to the right or to the left. I only skied it twice (both runs shown). The right path is far more open, and I would say it's easier. The left path is narrow and gets quite steep before rejoining a trail below. This was also three years ago, so what was cleared out through the trees then may be totally different from now.
